There is no too much thing to explain again, your questions have been answered and where you are not clear, we can still make it clear for you to understand. If you want to update 4.4.1 to version 4.4.2, what you have to do is to Open Google Play Store and type Electrum in the search bar or box and click enter. If you have installed Electrum before in the device, you will see update then click on the update, but if you not then install it from beginning. The features are the same but there are some changes of arrangements of the links on the features and that is what confusion comes in. But all is good.
Thanks for the kind response Agbe. Thanks to my seriousness in finding out in this forum from the answers from seniors and on the local board, I was able to understand after having had problems with the Electrum that I installed on my laptop as I asked about in the topic and not the amdroid version of Electrum.

For the Android version, I have no problems because the process is very easy. If I want to update to the latest version, I simply press the update button available on the play store.
I'm also currently studying other bitcoin wallets on android besides Electrum.

Since the purpose of this topic I have got the answer, as recommended then I will lock it.

Thanks to @Charles-Tim, @OmegaStarScream, @PawGo, @nc50lc, @Husna QA, and @Agbe.

Based from your full reply, I assume that you're talking about the Android version's fee sliders, yes?
Yes I am talking about the Android version of the wallet. I use the Mobile version more than the Desktop version because the Android version is easy to to move around.

If so, the three sliders has been in the Android version even in the old versions, it's not new.
They just made it "obviously clickable" in the new version; in the old, it didn't looked like the slider type can be swapped if tapped.
Well I didn't notice the sliders in the transaction box in the old version and it was on this new version that noticed that. Well they make choice of transaction, one can switch to any of the options but as for the moment I will not advise people to use static.

Excuse me Agbe.
I have not fully understood the electrum because I as a user is still very new so I find it difficult to understand your explanation.
I asked two questions. The first question is how to update from version 4.4.1 to version 4.4.2 in the portable version of electrum.
After some people gave answers, thank you for getting an answer. Likewise with my second question below it.

You explain the features contained in the old version of Electrum with a new version. Certainly not what I want. But it's okay, I will save your explanation.

The updated version of Electrum is not beautiful as the old version. In fact the whole version is confusing. Frankly speaking I prefer the old design and features of the wallet. Although they some features that I did not see in the old version is found in the new version. There are three (3) options for the reduction and increasement of fee in the transaction process and those features were not in the old version. Now once you login to the app, there are two options either to receive or to send. And when you click send, invoice scan QR or paste address. Though to some extent it is good but at the beginning it is confusing me. I know I will master to use it very soon.

I have deleted one portable 4.4.1 application but not deleted the electrum data folder.
In terms of instructions, what I did was considered not wrong.
I assume you put the portable versions of Electrum 4.4.1 and 4.4.2 in the same folder.
Even if you delete the electrum_data folder, the folder will be re-created when you open the portable Electrum.

However I'm starting to worry that the Electrum portable version doesn't guarantee as much security as Electrum other than the portable version as I participated in the ELECTRUM discussion on a local board and I tried to link here the Thomas V topic I took from a local forum -snip-
A portable version of Electrum tends to be stored on flash drives or other portable drives. It makes it unsafe to use when the portable drive containing Electrum is used on several computers, some of which may include insecure computers.

In essence, when you use portable Electrum, ensure the computer you use to connect the portable drive/flash drive containing the electrum_data folder is safe from viruses.

Security-wise, the portable version doesn't have anything different from the normal "versions".
It's just flagged to save the electrum data directory where the portable executable is.

The warning is regarding to its use-case when the electrum-portable.exe and its electrum_data directory are stored in a flash drive which is usually plugged in different computers.
But if you're using it only on a specific computer, it's no different than the "stand-alone" version except for the data_directory's location.

Thanks for all the solutions.

Since I am a new Electrum user who doesn't really know all about this bitcoin wallet, it's only natural when I ask the question how to update to the latest version of the portable application that I use.

In terms of instructions, what I did was considered not wrong.

It is not safe to use a portable version of Electrum on an insecure computer!

Don't get me wrong: I am not saying that a portable build is by itself more dangerous than a non-portable version.
However, a portable version does not bring anything more in terms of security. It does not protect you from the computer you are using.
In addition, portable builds encourage dangerous behaviour, because they make it very easy to use your wallet on third party computers, that might be infected with viruses and keyloggers.

I was never enthusiastic about distributing portable versions of Electrum.
I did it because the demand for portable versions was so high that portable builds distributed by third parties were getting popular.
That's the only reason why I accepted to distribute portable builds: I do this in order to avoid an even worse situation.

Because I still want to know more about security because it is very important to me.

I have done it according to the directions (downloaded on the website) and entered the initial seed that I saved and managed to get version 4.4.2
The laptop already has two electrum.
Can I remove the 4.4.1 version?
You don't have to restore your seed phrase to update Electrum;
It seems like you've downloaded a non-portable version which triggers Electrum to use the default data directory in your %appdata% folder.

Since your version 4.4.1 is the portable version, v4.4.2 should be as well.
Otherwise, it'll fail to find your original "electrum_data" folder and launch like it's the first time you've used Electrum.

You must have two data directories right now, one in the default location and your previously using electrum_data where "electrum-4.4.1-portable" is located.
You might want to keeps things tidy and backup and remove the unused one.

After everything is working as intended, you can delete the previous executable without any issues.

Yes, sure. As there are no major version changes, I assume even if you open wallet in 4.4.2 and some kind of migration will be performed, it will be still possible to open it in older version if you would like to use older version for some reason (for example to control RBF). Of course you may prepare wallet file backup, but having your seed, you are fine.

Once you download the wallet as explained above. Make sure that you have the seed phrase first, and then install and launch the wallet as you normally would.

You can download the file needed for the update on https://electrum.org/#download. If you click on the link on Electrum wallet, it will direct you to the official site also.

Before you update, always check the URL, make sure it is correct.

Electrum installed on my laptop is electrum-4.4.1-portable.
Today I opened electrum to create an address and there appeared information on an update to version 4.4.2, my little finger accidentally pressed the Esc button so I didn't update to the latest version.

I click help - about still version 4.41.
Below about there is a check for updates and there is the latest update to version 4.4.2.
How can I update to version 4.4.2. What do I have to do.
