You have your seed phrase, delete the old wallet, install new one using this guide and make sure you verify its signature using the same guide. Then, import your seed phrase on newly installed Electrum wallet and see if it works good.

Hi, longtime Electrum user, 1st post.

Trying to upgrade from Electrum 2.9.0 to 4.1.4 on mac Big Sur. 2.9.0 was in 'synchronizing' mode and was no longer connecting.
Ran the 4.1.4 dmg. During the upgrade (with all default settings) I was not asked for the seed phrase, just the password, which I entered and 4.1.4 opened up, connected and all looked ok (my test transaction that I sent from Coinbase last night was also there).

Closed the new version, then later reopened Electrum from my dock, but the icon must have been pointing to v 2.9.0. I thought 4.1.4 would replace all 2.9.0 files, including the .exe, but I guess it did not.

I got an error (don't remember what is said-prob something about wallet being upgraded), and closed it. When I look for the 4.1.4 executable in the apps folders it's not there, only the 2.9.0 version (based on the Date Modified - 2017). When I open it up, the top of the window has 'Electrum Install Wizard' and after I enter my password it gives me the 'Electrum Error' with Open Console or Terminate options.

When I try to upgrade again and run the 4.1.4 dmg, the install starts, I enter my password click next, and the window freezes with the mac beachball and program not responding.

How can I fix this?
Appreciate any help you can provide.
Thank!
