I use keepass to store login details for my electrum wallet so 100% correct that the password is correct however its returning a error that the key isnt valid

What key are you referring to? Do you mean electrum wallet password or something else?

It is possible for something more to be going on here than simply having the password wrong. Since I started using electrum about a year ago, I have to restore it every single time I use it, after getting an "invalid password" message. I have not simply forgotten my password each time. I think I'll download a newer version and see if that fixes the problem (and the problem of getting an error message now when I try to send coins).

Check for extra spaces in the password and also be careful copying and pasting the password. Check if keepass has a history of the password, perhaps it got changed by accident. Do you have your seed? if you do you can use that to recover your wallet.

If it says it's incorrect then it's incorrect , you probably by mistake deleted the AppData folder or updated another wallet file to electrum to read otherwise it would make sense .
I'am not sure if electrum allow you to export private keys without the need of the passwords , if it does then export them and import them to another wallet
