Old thread I know but really, you won't lose your wallet.  As long as you kept the "seed", the 13 words (which you should keep on paper someplace safe) it will be recreated.  Make a new wallet where you need to and enter the seed words in the right order.  You'll get a clone of the original, complete with addresses.  You can even have the same wallet on multiple computers if that makes you feel safer.  Everything that makes your wallet what it is comes right back when your seed gets looked up somewhere online.  Even years later.

But it also means that if anyone else were to get them they could impersonate you and steal your balance so keep them private and don't put them anywhere online.

In order to to load the wallet or make it online follow this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3ZvCLeeUR8

use these credentials exactly like in the video:

Autocorrect and SSL unchecked
SockS5 127.0.0.1

I only noticed afterwards that my Electrum wallet is not connected! It says “Not connected” in the bottom left of the app and the Network circle/icon in the bottom right of the screen is red!

I remember I had to fiddle with the settings on my anti-virus software and the windows firewall to get mine to work. You have to white list "electrum.exe" or something similar on your antivirus/firewall.

If you scroll all the way to the bottom, on the left, there should be something that says "move thread" Click that and move this to the elctrum sub-forum. The forum is here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=98.0 It is under Development and Technical Discussion>Alternative Clients>Electrum.

Make a backup of your wallet, and try reinstalling the entire software. Make sure that your backup is somewhere safe, and preferably encrypted. Put it on a flashdrive or copy it to another computer.

Also, this thread would best be in the Electrum sub-forum, they could provide more help there. You can move this thread there.

hi everybody!

I am hoping that somebody on this site can help me out here!?

I recently installed Electrum 2.1.1 onto my windows 7 PC and this morning elected to send about 12 bitcoins from an exchange to one of the receiving wallet addresses in my Electrum wallet…

I only noticed afterwards that my Electrum wallet is not connected! It says “Not connected” in the bottom left of the app and the Network circle/icon in the bottom right of the screen is red!

I've tried changing the settings there – it was on “auto” by default – i tried selecting one of the default servers – still wouldn't connect.

So now i'm stuck with this version of Electrum – with its wallet! I dare not uninstall and re-install else i will lose that wallet address to which my coins have been sent!

I hope that somebody can advise me on how i can get this Electrum wallet to connect!? I dont understand how such a mainstream and popular bitcoin wallet could have an issue like this which could potentially result in the user losing thousands upon thousands of dollars?
