OP send me a PM where he state he use Electrum Wallet Portable version 1.7.15.948 on Windows 10.
I tried to search for this version I have never seen version 1.7.15.984 what I think is that it could be a fake portable version of Electrum its risky if he just backup the wallet file and upgrade the electrum to the latest version without removing the fake Electrum.

Good catch, i didn't pay attention to minor numbering version. Based on Electrum's GitHub tag[1] and release notes[2], i only found version 1.7.4 and 1.8.

It's the 2013 version and I think this is right 1.7.1 version.
From the oldest version 1.5.4 in 2012 until the latest version will be found here.

The syncing problem might outdated version, back up the file immediately and download the latest one.

And I think that is why he gets the error unable to sync the AV is blocking the Electrum due to a suspicious connection.

It's too risky if your PC is already using a fake Electrum if I were the owner I'll reformat my PC just to get rid of viruses/malware/spy.

OP send me a PM where he state he use Electrum Wallet Portable version 1.7.15.948 on Windows 10. Most Electrum server no longer old support Electrum version, so OP should make a backup of his wallet and download latest Electrum from https://electrum.org/#download.

Based on Electrum's github page[1] and this forum[2], it looks you're first human experiencing this error.
The issue in the first link: MemoryError: #7501 is the result of user(s) who submitted crash reports when experienced the same error;
so far, there are four who submitted (3 users, maybe) and probably more who didn't send a crash report.

You're right, although i was sure i wrote "reporting this error", not "experiencing this error".

I never experienced this before but my guess is that you may have some corrupt files. It doesn't seem like a connection issue as it's possible to run Electrum oflne.
If running the clear-cache command doesn't solve the issue then you may need to reinstall the wallet as suggested above but make sure to backup your wallet first. I don't see why this won't work!

Some questions, just to give us more information:

Did it ever work?
If it did, when was the last time and has anything else changed on your system since then?
Are you on 4.3.2?
What OS / hardware?

As others have pointed out it's rare, but also as they said following the instructions and then rebooting the machine can't hurt.

@Gryndal Have you tried the famous "turn it off and on again"? (your PC)

Did you close the application and run clear-cache.cmd?

I'd recommend doing similar to the above but you probably just need to move your electrum data folder somewhere else and start electrum (using your nmemonic to recover the wallet).

Based on Electrum's github page[1] and this forum[2], it looks you're first human experiencing reporting this error manually. As for solving the problem, i can't give specific recommendation (aside from backup your wallet file and reinstalling Electrum) unless you give more information about your system (such as OS and Electrum version).

I'm trying to open my electrum wallet but all I get is a dialog box saying "unable to sync to the blockchain. Manually run the clear-cache.cmd and restart the application". Electrum still opens in the background but it doesn't respond until the dialog box closes. But when the dialog box closes, so does Electrum. Please has anyone encountered this before.
