Did you try typing (parts) of the password in a notepad file or something? (dont save) It may be that the key layout of your keyboard got changed.

This happens to me every now and then when I press ctrl and shift at the same time, some of the signs get mixed up.

By typing it in notepad you get get visual confirmation that the password is correct. Or, just to be safe, try the signs individually in a random order.

It's a pity you didn't write down the seed. :-(

You could try to brute force the password.
If it is still only numbers you should have a fair chance of finding it.
try -> https://github.com/gurnec/btcrecover

P.S. should you recover the password create a new wallet, write down the seed and send all your bitcoins to the new wallet.
(You can have both open at the same time with Electrum)

Could it be that you had a different wallet file on the other hard drive with a different password?
Trye File > Open and select the old wallet file.
Are the addresses you see in Electrum the correct ones?
Did you maybe change the keyboard layout and thus characters are on a different key?

nothing was changed except the motherboard the hard drive is pluged into. it shows me my addresses and balance and whatnot but when prompted for my password it wont accept it. keyboard is set to US english and the password is all numbers anyway.

so as the subject says electrum wont accept my password anymore. Im 100% sure i have not changed it or mistyped it in anyway. the only thing i can think would cause this issue was that i swaped my hard drive into a different computer tried switching back but it did nothing.
i dont have my seed and iv pretty much accepted the loss of money but i was wondering if someone could shed some light on what went wrong or something.
