You can't lose your money if you still have your seed.

This statement is (1) unnecessary and (2) wrong.

There are a lot of ways to lose money (BTC) while still having your seed.
Especially since OP mentioned he is using v2.7.9 of electrum (which does have a vulnerability).

If an attacker is able to get access to your seed (which is possible under some circumstances with the old vulnerability) he can easily transfer all the BTC's out.
You will be left with a seed containing 0 balance.

Safe and secure do not mean the same!

Keeping a backup of your seed = safe.
Being protected against an attack = secure.

I was talking about "Wallet not connected" issues.

Remember the context.

The first time you run it it downloads block headers of about 40MB and that is the cause of the delay. If you don't have persistence enabled for the electrum data directory it'll do that the first time you run it in every session.

Electrum 2.9.7 it's not only outdated and unsafe like ranochigo said above, but also has a synchronization issue.

If you don't know how to upgrade Electrum to the latest version, check this post: https://amp.reddit.com/r/Electrum/comments/7cjjpg/electrum_synchronizing_message_on_tails/dpqflmh/

Thanks that did it!! It just took awhile to connect.

Thanks for the response.

I'm now using Electrum version 3.1.2 (and Tails 3.6.2) but the problem persists.

Do not use Electrum 2.7.9. It has a vulnerability that would potentially result in your wallet being compromised.

Go to https://electrum.org/#download and choose your version (verify it if you want to be safe). Update it, run it. If it still doesn't connect, click the bubble at the bottom right, go to server tab and uncheck connect to server automatically. Right click to choose another server and close it.

I have Electrum 2.7.9 and I'm using Tails 3.3. Every time I open it, it says "Not connected".

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. There is a lot of money that I just transferred to this wallet.  Shocked
