I know this is an old thread however figured I would start here rather than creating a new one based on this same issue.   Any updates?  I have made changes to the network.py file including all of the servers listed in this topic and when I launch the wallet it still does not connect.  Just has the red dot/button and does this on every server.  I sent a test of 4.95 coins over to my wallet however sadly can't get the wallets to connect.  I do see my transaction on the verge blockchain however Smiley  https://verge-blockchain.info/

So any ideas on this?

Yeah, it's still not working.

It looks like we should quit on XVG if they can't even make their own wallets to work in months :-)

Mine is working also with 46.163.118.201 ip address and ssl cheked

Waiting to see my first xvg transaction

Does electrum xvg need to download the blockchain??

Any Electrum wallet is lightweight wallet,so there is no need to download full chain but only blockchain headers file which is in case of BTC around 40 MB.I'm not sure what size of that file is in case of XVG wallet, but it should not be too much.So if you have some incoming transaction it should be visible in a very short time.

Someone had this same issue early today and this fixed it:

There are some issues with the default servers. Try to use the server 83.169.38.218 (just paste it in the first textbox), then wait a little bit and see if it works.

For the people using the MacOS wallet, in tools and then network, you paste that address instead of the electrum one, you uncheck the use ssl and that's it, it should work pretty fast.
I'm quoting here because took me ages to find something for Mac Users.

Thanks! Worked perfectly for me.  Grin

worked with this adress, but without SSL...that is not so clear for me, I though verge is secure and anonymous and going through the TOR network, but is this possible without ssl Huh

Verge is 'secure' (as almost every cryptocurrency in the top 30 at the moment) and anonymous.
SSL (which by the way is called TLS now) [1] is neither required for the security- nor for the anonymity-element.
The only possible attack (without usig TLS) would be that an attacker could rig the the TX history, .. .
This requires the attacker to sit inbetween you and the node you are connectig to (Man-in-the-Middle[2]).

without SSL it works for me too. Is that a problem? can i do something wrong when i connect without SSL??

No, everything is fine.
You don't have to connect via SSL (new name: TLS).

Just downloaded 2.4.1 from the main website. After installing and I go to tools->network, I checked auto-connect to electrum-verge.xyz. However, the bottom left shows "not connected" and the bottom right has a big red circle which I can only imagine means that it's not connected.

How do I connect to the network?
Verge (XVG) Electrum servers : 83.169.38.218 - 46.163.118.201

I have the same problem .. I hope i havent lost my verge coins -.-
Just search your address in the Verge block explorer[1]. If you see any balance there, then you have your coins. The only issue that not connecting to the server may cause is: you can't see your transactions, balance and spend your coins.

I just installed the Electrum-XVG 2.4.1 wallet (Windows version) and tried to send some Verge to the wallet's receiving address. I then realized it says Not connected in the bottom left corner and has a red circle in the bottom right corner. I clicked the red circle to bring up the Network popup and I tried all the servers but nothing works. I made sure to add Electrum to my "Allow apps to communicate through Windows Firewall" list. Can someone please help me get Electrum connected? Thank you

Edit: At first I was worried I had lost a bunch of Verge but the transfer showed up in my history this morning. So will I be able to transfer Verge from Electrum to somewhere else while not connected or what are the limitations when not connected?
