Yes that is correct, and to add up to your statement ELL has a very good validation process with regards to their bank notes. The 5 steps indicated on their whitepaper explains how the team have designed a stream lined process.

You would typically scan it with a mobile device that has a wallet app that supports the StackMint protocol. Please read this article for more detailed description of how it would work. I have also explained in previous posts.

To create a new coin, miners and general public work together. Miners provide the compute resources to process banknotes provided by the general public and split the reward. This is will allow people in developed and under-developed parts of the world participate. It is also possible to use this process to generate some randomness which will come in handy for certain components of the platform; Details of this will be released in future technical publications.

StackMint is a new coin generation scheme for Ellcrys. It will allow people from anywhere in the world "exchange" their national banknotes for new coin using their mobile devices. We believe this is a fair method of distributing new coins to people who have no access to specialised hardware for mining. Please read this post for more information.

If banknotes from your country are not supported, you can still participate in stackmint as an off-chain validator. Additionally, If you own any of the supported banknotes, you can use them. You do not necessarily have to participate with the banknotes of your country.

Only a subset of global banknotes will be supported once StackMint is added to the protocol. Subsequent updates will add support for new banknotes not covered in previous updates. StackMint basically allows anyone on the planet exchange a valid banknote for new coins. You simply take a photo of a banknote supported
by the protocol and send it to a validator. There are two kinds of validators; On-chain validators (nodes) and off-chain/human validators. On-chain validators are equipped with machine learning capabilities to analyse support banknotes while the off-chain validators manually check banknotes that successfully passed the initial on-chain validation. These are really favorable conditions. But how do you implement the ban on the output of tokens? Will this be built into a smart contract?

There is no limit. The private sale (a.k.a Round 1) has the cheapest prices with about -85% discount and 10% bonus. With minimum contribution set at 0.2 ETH or 0.007 BTC. The major difference is that tokens are locked for 6 months and it is not really ceremoniously advertised like the pre-sale. It is worth noting that this is the best time to get some.

Actually, the name was gotten from a fantasy TV show named, well, Ellcrys. To us, the name signifies life, strength and safety.

This project is definitely long term like many other blockchain projects. Once operational, it will outlast its creators. A leaderless organization (a.k.a Source-Level DAO) on Ellcrys is an entity that develops software and may offer a service to end-users based on the software.

Software developed by these organizations include but not limited to mobile apps, websites, APIs, smart contracts, packages etc. Leaderless organizations have no central owner, they are governed democratically by people who contribute to it.

As a developer, you can join a leaderless organization by contributing your skills to it like millions already do on projects hosted on Github. You earn revenue if the organization generates revenue. You also take part in decision making process. As part of the platform's goal to encourage continous open source contribution, contributors will be rewarded with tokens each time pull requests are accepted.

Yes. We have to implement sharding technology to be able to handle the kind of throughput expected for our platform. We are currently working to making this happen. I think this is something existing and future blockchain projects will implement in the near future.

Yes, it is definitely crazy. We think it is one the interesting ways to efficiently distribute new coins fairly. Anyone who has access to cash can "exchange" them for new coins. The way it works involves an individual taking a photo of a supported banknote using a compatible mobile application and then they send it to the network for processing. It gets validated through a two-phase validation scheme -- First phase will have network nodes analyse and try to determine whether or not the banknote is obviously invalid (it won't accept photos of cats  ). The second phase is crowd-powered;  People manually verify banknotes that have gone through the first phase successfully. They send their validation decision for a banknote and add a stake which will be forfeited if they fail to validate "correctly". Correctness is determined by whatever the majority of validators say about a banknote. Users who failed to validate correctly lose their stake and the winning majority shares losers' stakes. This article talks about it more.



Yes, git is quite decentralized. But the issue is with remote git repositories. Most of us depend on Github to manage our repositories and to provide tools to help us interact with it. We could easily bundle our git updates/objects and transfer them by email/USB without Github but that is not very user friendly. What we are interested in is decentralizing the hosting of git repositories and providing tools for people to build leaderless organizations around them. A leaderless organization for example can be a decentralized Uber alternative where communities democratically decide what goes in the repositories, where and how the service is deployed/hosted and accessed. If the organization generates revenue, the contributors will collectively decide how to allocate or spend it. We are working on a blog post that will have more information.
