Elon Mask just does not need bitcoins. He is passionate and makes money with completely different types of business, and his business is much more global and more significant. Musk cannot simultaneously engage in many activities. Therefore, even if it has only 0.25 BTC, this is absolutely normal. hard to believe when he had been so active in the community as a believer. he knows BTC will be valuable in the future so why not get as much as he can since he is an investors who believes unlike Warren. there is a reason why he claims to have just a fraction of BTC and it could be because he already had untraceable stash of BTC somewhere.

Doesn't matter what Musk holds anyway, the guy who owns and uses $100s of dollars every week is still the one who's going to do more for Bitcoin than any Musk holder on some custodian account ever will.

I think it's extremely unlikely that he holds 0.25 BTC. For a person with a normal amount of wealth, 0.25 BTC is a reasonable amount to hold. However for a billionaire it makes no sense whatsoever. You would hold either zero, or else an amount that is at least a reasonable proportion of your wealth.

If someone has $10 billion (Musk reportedly has $35b), then 0.25 BTC is roughly 0.000025% of your total wealth. Which means it is absolutely irrelevant to you whether or not it increases by an improbable x1000 to give you 0.025% of your total wealth. In which case there is no point in holding it.

Even 10 BTC would only be 0.001% of your total wealth. So a x100 increase would make it 0.1% of your total wealth. Even with 10 BTC there would be little point in having such a comparatively small amount.
Maybe 100 BTC, which would be 0.01% of your wealth, and x100 would make it 1% ... but that's still a tiny amount.

It always depends. Regardless how rich people are, if not that interested investing in bitcoin or just trying out small amount before buying more is really possible.
Elon Musk is not an exception. Either he is telling the truth or not, he himself can only know that. But the fact that he still invested in cryptocurrency is still an optimistic view.

Who knows? Maybe he only own .25 btc but he owns huge amount in other coins.

well if you think this is recent them it makes sense since the amount in dollars is reasonable and makes sense. also you don't have to invest billions in bitcoin if you are a billionaire!

but OP's mistake is that he thinks this is recent whereas there is nothing recent about Elon Musk showing interest in bitcoin. and considering he started a very long time ago having only 0.25 bitcoin means he has invested something like $20 to $70 in bitcoin which makes absolutely no sense.
the only logical conclusion is that he is either trolling readers or he is protecting his privacy for some reason that we won't know.

Personally I think that he owns much more, he is a type of a person who craves technological progress and probably he would save some of his fortune in Bitcoin because this way you are a little bit on another level in management of money (banks can't touch you and you are fully responsible of your keys). He was recently very critical of the US government because of the lockdown/Tesla controversy, which makes me think he'll likely hold more BTC in the future, even if it's just to make an anti-government statement. I admire the way in which Elon Musk thinks and the innovative ideas he has, i really do think he is saying the truth about the amount of coins he is holding as there is no point for him to lie about his investment in BTCitcoin.

The reason is he is a self made billionaire and he is not an investor, he made his billions through his inventions and he is pretty damn good at that and if he says that he just is holding 0.25BTC just to check what is all about, i believe what he is telling. Most of his wealth is in the form of Tesla and SpaceX stocks.The Tesla stocks were pretty volatile a few months ago.If he sells some stocks just to buy a large amount of BTC,the stock prices of his companies might collapse.
A guy like Elon Musk likes to build things-automobiles and rockets.Buying a cryptocurrency just for the sake of speculation and trading profits isn't in his style.Even though he has some interest around Bitcoin,he is the co-founder of PayPal(even though he sold his shares).I think that PayPal can be considered as Bitcoin's archenemy. This is a joke of the year that Elon Musk hold only 0.25 bitcoins. Even if he did not wanted to tell the truth he could have announced some reasonable amount. No one will believe that a millionaire is holding such a small amount of bitcoins.

Elon musk claiming he have 0.25 bitcoins is strange. Atleast he admitted of possessing bitcoins. That would make him poorer than myself. Elon is a intelligent person and a tech enthusiast. Has talked about bitcoin and Ethereum on several occasions. It would not be a surprise if he's saying he have 0.25% of all bitcoins.

I also posses more bitcoins than Elon musk. I wonder why people speck false statements with so much confidence. Don't they think that people will make fun of them once they will hear such statements of popular personalities ?

What is strange though? we really don't know if he is a crypto investors or just joining the bandwagon.

For us, its really hard to believed that a billionaire like Elon will have < 1 BTC, but hey, who I'm I to judge this guy? For all we know, he may have stash more BTC but he just want to keep it quiet because maybe some of his friends are going to bash him for investing on crypto. Elon Musk has a special sense of humor, and he often said provocative things about cryptos before. It might be another joke of his, I don't know. Or perhaps he personally owns just 0.25 BTC but his relative/company owns way more... It could be that 0.25 is all he has, though. This guy is a typical trickster, IMO. Even now, saying that he owns only 0.25 BTC, he made the news because of telling Rowling that Bitcoin 'looks solid' in comparison with fiat, basically (see here). But in the same sentence he called bitcoin 'internet ghost money' which might be offensive. He keeps his crypto opinions well-balanced, so his neither a supporter nor an opposer in the end.

Do we really need to know how much BTC Elon Musk hold? Yes, he seems to be very bullish about it but I guess it doesn't matter though. It won't push the price, it won't get the needed adoption. And again, bitcoin is pseudo-anonymous, we only have bitcoin address to rely on. Anyone can claim that they have 1 or 10 or even 100 bitcoin, but we really don't know if that is true, unless he signs that address. And even average Joe doesn't want to revel how much bitcoin they have. So we can't really say if this is true or not.

Well, we can take his words to be the truth, or we can speculate that he is just hiding whatever Bitcoin he is holding. In the world of business and investing, there are many ways one can own something without really technically owning it. Now, if the man is telling the truth then maybe he is not really convinced that he needs Bitcoin or as one poster here is speculating the man just does not need Bitcoin as he has many other business interests being pursued. Still, the industry and community owed this man some thanks as he is a known supporter and promoter of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general.
