I am a trader and a little bit investor, saving some BTC for pension:) everyday with fellows we work with crypto and we've already lost a lot of coins from our local wallets because of frauds. Somehow our damn private keys were stolen or wallets were broken. When we decided stop sitting and shaking from every rustle, we hired good Internet security officer to find out reasons. Eventually he found our laptops full of trojans and other sh*t. I remembered, those time he left us a goof advice - never work from computer were you play or watch free movies.
After that case we made our mind to divide personal and working computers with wallets. I explored a a lot of services with virtual servers or collocations from amazon, digital ocean and many others. They are all well-known and looks really cool. But i have several requirements for my working space:
- a am not a technical guy, i need remote desktop. how to trade or save bitcoin using SSH? What is it by the way? Also I am no sure i have 22 port opened
- i need virtual machine with at least 120 GB space for several crypto wallets (i need full wallets as light one are unsecure), they were quite expensive
- and i required encryption and backup to save data anyway. what if somebody looks at my working machine when i sleeping or just have to go away with my dog? Who provide warranties?
Convenience and security problems were the main pain. searching web i found guys who work under some interesting project - distributed data centre. It's quite like an Amazon, but horizontally dispersed worldwide. and it isn't like only a software, they have a business model, allowing to stand and control their servers and use blockchain to protect it. it looked interesting and i advised them to make just a encrypted cloud for my Bitcoin wallets (BTW i became their small investor too
Well, now they are on alpha stage and this is great moment to influence on this idea to make it better for community, As i know, they've already implemented some authorisation and network security, remote access to my wallets via browser, mobile or iPAD, encryption and backups. The best idea they found was to use protected virtual machines outside big heavy data centres. Firstly, i can fully control my working environment (as it is not a online wallet, it is fully protected virtual machine). And secondly, i can access it remotely from smartphone or tablet and secure connection is not my headache.
It looks not bad Take a look glance here: eggsdc.com/cryptovault
