GPG come pre-installed with Ubuntu.
you need to have the "public key" of the person you are messaging. You can just PM and ask him. What OS are you using Win/Mac/Linux? On OS X you go download an app called gpgtools. install it, reboot, then read the readme.
OS X (GPGTools Instructions):
copy and paste the public key into TextEdit app. select format menu and select "make plain text." then save as UTF-8 and append .asc instead of .txt. Double click the file you just saved. It should open GPG Keychain Access and import the public key. Then you have to enable GPG tools as an os X service. To do this:
you have to go into the system preferences-->Keyboard then click "Services" from the left scroll box. In the right scroll box, find the "Text" heading and click to check all the "Open PGP options."
Then go back to textedit app, type the message you would like to encrypt (make sure you format-->make plain text). Then highlight your message. Click the "TextEdit" menu -->Services -->"OpenPGP Encrypt" then you can check box the PGP key you just loaded in GPG Keychain Access. The text will change to an encrypted message box.
you can also generate your own PGP key in GPG Keychain Access app. I recommend generating an RSA key of at least 2048-bit. To send it to some one, just "export the key" Note, DO NOT check the box to also export your secret key. you hang on to that and use that decode messages encoded by your public key. so just export the key without checking to also export the secret key. It will export your public key as an .asc file. U can open it in text edit by selecting open from the TextEdit file menu, or renaming the file with a .txt on the end and 2x clicking it. paste this into the PM message you will send along with the encrypted message itself.
Windows:
Don't use windows with bitcoin. I know people do it, but dont there is so much malware and keyloggers out there. just don't
Linux:
In linux open your package manager and look for an app GPA. Install it. Read the readme. I'm not running linux right now so i can't walk you thru it.
