So you have mined coins using CPU alone?

I like Cryptonight lite for energy efficiency. My Ryzen 1700X uses less power, runs cooler, and hashes higher then on any other algorithm I have tried with it. The same is true for my i7 6700K when mining the same coin(s).

Thanks guys for all the input..

I also researched Botnet's but there was a time when even mining BTC with a Botnet was worth it to some. Now its pointless.

Also when I say energy efficient I mean we would be using electric that would other wise go unused with a Desktop. Also for people who don't own a GPU rig they would lower ROI by not even having to invest the 1-2k.. Again everyone is not a miner. So this would allow someone to mine without the initial investment. We have far better Algo's for CPU also since Magi was developed.

I agree it takes money to make money but I see the potential that a coin like Magi does have. Also all coins can be mined from the beginning but once the GPU arrives to mine its pointless.

Biggest problem with cpu algos is that they get raped by botnets, operator gets all the profit and someone else pays the bills.

With energy costs for traditional Mining Algorithms on the rise why haven't more CPU friendly algorithms been adopted? An average person could mine with the use of a laptop or workstation. Instead the scales have tipped in favor of GPU friendly algorithms. The average person can't even enter the market due to the cost upfront of building a Mining Rig. After the mining rig is finally assembled most new comers have to wonder if they will even make a ROI.

I'm currently working on a project utilizing one of the more friendly CPU Algorithms and wanted feedback.
A pure cpu algo is a good idea even for gpu miners , instead of those rigs cpus just idle we can use this cpus to make some profit and actually some help in roi , but every cpu coin must turn into gpu minable , you have to do something in the algo to lock it to cpu only...i don't know if this can be done.

You can build a 6 card mining rig these days for around $1400-1600 if you shop around. This is not a lot of money. For example a 6 card RX470 rig mining ZEC or ETH makes ~$250 a month at $0.10/kw power. That is only a 6 month ROI time. On top of that the residual hardware value means you can turn around the day you hit ROI and sell the hardware for pure profit. I would like to see people list any other investments that can grant you a minimum 150% return after 6 months so I can get in on it.

If people cant afford that inital investment they shouldnt be entering the mining market for profit. There is an old saying....it takes money to make money. If you want to make a profit you have to first make an investment into whatever you are doing. The days of mining a random algo for a decent profit on whatever shit hardware you have laying around is long gone.

Go check out Magi XMG

Be weary of anyone claiming an algoritm is energy efficient for minning. It usually means the CPU
can't reach its optimum performance due to some bottleneck in the system (usually memory access)
which is actually less efficient.

You've got it backward. CPU mining is not about energy efficiency. If you want that go with ASICS.
CPU mining has the advantage of flexibility and ubiquity. A CPU can mine any algorithm and everyone has one.
But it is the worst for energy efficiency.

An energy efficient algorithm just means that it produces more hash with less energy. That's fine for most
encryption/decryption applications but doesn't mean anything to mining.
