There is a difference among using ERC 23 coins and ERC 20 coins in the cryptocurrency industry The reasons is that ERC 23 going to have some limitations like they cannot be sent to a random contract similarly to Ethereum, only the contracts with specified ERC 23 deposits will accept ERC 23 coins limiting their potential

The ERC20 token standard has become famous for its role in creating new cryptocurrencies on top of Ethereum, which are usually sold to the public in ICOs (Initial Coin Offerings). In 2017, ERC20 tokens have already raised more than $1B from the public. But the ERC20 standard has several drawbacks which a new standard, ERC223, aims to repair:

1.The lost token problem - when people send funds to a contract by using the transfer function (instead of approve and transferFrom), funds are lost and cannot be retrieved. The ERC20 standard doesn’t include a refund function for these cases and the transferred tokens are lost. So far this implementation has resulted in the loss of $400,000 worth of Ether.
For example if you send 100 ETH to a contract that is not intended to work with Ether, then it will reject a transaction and nothing bad will happen. If you will send 100 ERC20 tokens to a contract that is not intended to work with ERC20 tokens, then it will not reject tokens because it cant recognize an incoming transaction. As the result, your tokens will get stuck at the contracts balance.

How much ERC20 tokens are currently lost (27 Dec, 2017):

QTUM, $1,204,273 lost. watch on Etherscan

EOS, $1,015,131 lost. watch on Etherscan

GNT, $249,627 lost. watch on Etherscan

STORJ, $217,477 lost. watch on Etherscan

Tronix , $201,232 lost. watch on Etherscan

DGD, $151,826 lost. watch on Etherscan

OMG, $149,941 lost. watch on Etherscan

STORJ, $102,560 lost. watch on Etherscan

2.Energy waste - In ERC223, token transfer is a one-step instead of two-step process, using 2 times less gas and causing less blockchain bloat.

3.Allowing developers to handle incoming token transactions - For instance, allowing to automatically return funds to source.

WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ?? ARE THERE ALREADY SOME ICOs working on ERC223 ?? i so far know only one Cheesy   Wink ...
I remember mobile go was using erc223 standard compliant token but the majority of exchange sites are not supporting it and it makes exchange sites are not able to list erc233 to their exchange sites due to the technical problem.
Only a little bug already fixed in erc223 token.

ERC23 tokens are backwards compatible with ERC20 tokens. It means that ERC23 supports every ERC20 functions and contracts or services working with ERC20 tokens will work with ERC23 tokens correctly."

There are too many ERC20 tokens in the market to think they can be replaced by ERC233 tokens. In any case it can be a cohabitation, although at this moment there are only a few projects using ERC233 tokens.

My opinion about erc223 is i will support it if its better than erc20.
In the thread you said that in erc223 as been completed with refund i think this is new fitur and good to try.

I am not blockchain savvy person, but I hope Ethereum will implement this standard soon which could trigger the raise  of eth price. Let us wait and see  Smiley.

These are key challenges I face. Infact I lost some coins few days ago because I mistakenly sent it to a contract instead of my wallet and it could not be recovered again.
I think RoboMed (RMD) is implementing the ERC223 standard (according to their support).

I agree to the OP there's a lot of funds loss last year and it will rise again this year... Using ERC233 maybe it can solve the problem of lossing funds.... but it can avoid if the person is aware what he is doing.... Every individual know the risk when sending token from another wallet it can be lost once you make a wrong move... I will choose the one who have a refund function...

Your Data Belongs To You
This is the first I am hearing of this new standard and this problem with missing tokens.
I think that projects should use the new standard in order to avoid this problem.
IF the current wallets are able to support them, if not it should definitively be taken in account in next eth update.

we need a new coin --- supercoin  Cheesy this coin will fix all issues of current coins and adapt all their strengths  ..it will also run on own blockchain-multichain, will support decentralized apps asblockchain 3.0, safety wil be ensured by using quantum proof encryption and will support smart contracts via ERC223. also it will be super anonymous and untraceable  Cheesy  Cheesy

Like this, but the current big coins can upgrade a lot and possible make an Evo version like Bitcoin Evolved

Which company is using the ERC 223 Standard? and is it ready for usage?

I know the ERC223 specification has been out there for at least a few months now, and it does offer advantages over ERC20.

I am unsure if it's supported in current wallets. I know it's backwards-compatible with respect to the methods it implements (ERC223 is a superset of ERC20), however I haven't looked into it enough to know if there is anything needed for wallet/client implementation.

It's most certainly the way that Ethereum tokens are going to go at, least it's v.next.

Best regards,
Ben
