I managed to solve the problem but I think I'm going to use that client anyway since the standard wallet wont sync with the network.

"syncing" means downloading the whole blockchain wich take like 30 or more hours. So yes, using a lightweight client is a very good idea.  Cheesy

Multibit ( https://multibit.org/ ) or Electrum ( http://electrum.org/ ) is the way to go, no blockchain download and are ready to use in a few seconds. The original client (Bitcoin-Qt) is only recommended if you need some more advanced features, like running a server.
I have been running 64-bit Windows with several Bitcoin clients (including the original) for many months and did not had any problems.

Can always just use Electrum client. Search for the posts about it here

So I want to get into bitcoin however I can't open the wallet because i keep getting this error. I was just wondering what 3rd party wallets i could use and can they set up new addresses?
