ETF, whether directly or indirectly, will in time have an impact on Bitcoin movements because any news that occurs will always have an impact, even though the level will be adjusted to the current situation. Because the halving period is approaching, usually movements will always occur, so the news will not affect anything else; we just have to wait for the movement from the halving period to occur. Let the SEC determine what will be done with the ETF, so currently there will still be people waiting for it.

Well, the Bitcoin ETF has been approved since last month and its already hit $10B milestone in a month.
Please do some research first before you bring back the old thread, because this topic is not relevant anymore.

I expect a great deal of those advisors to take long positions on bitcoin way before an ETF approval, because if they were to really wait until the SEC gave the green light, by the time they bought the amount of bitcoin they needed the price would have gone up significantly already, and in fact it can be said that the current upward movement that started back at the end of October of the previous year can be attributed to the rumors of a bitcoin ETF approval being imminent.

The OP ended up making himself look a bit stupid, didn’t he. Making up BS that he had sources the Bitcoin Spot ETF’s would be rejected.

Maybe the OP wanted to buy cheaper and he was hoping for a big wick down if they were rejected. He might have been trying to spread FUD to encourage selling so he could buy cheaper (not that he could affect anything with very limited reach).

You had more than enough time to fill your bags OP.

Even though I don't make comments on economy topics much I absolutely agree with you. There have been many people in the recent times who are making this kind of posts to spread fear. I think that we will continue to see this kind of topics as I think Bitcointalk is still more effective than most social media platforms.
The OP is not the only one who fears the rejection, many economists feared it too and some dropped their reasons as well. Now, I think we should leave it behind us, it has passed and the approval has finally been won. The ETF saga was really shaky and confusing, even the crypto market felt indecisiveness from the last weeks of 2023 to the very first 2 weeks of 2024. If the OP didn't get it right this time due to one thing or the other, that doesn't mean good information can't still be dropped by the same person next time, so I don't mock. Well, it will continue to be a lesson for us all, we only conclude when we see an outcome, and even if we go by speculations, we should be careful about it and not be too hasty for any decision because of it.

About Bitcointalk and social media, there is a wide difference here as we are more refined with our revelations than over there, we should only be more encouraged to weigh our information before we propagate such.

I believe that the best thing you could do regarding this would be just realizing you are not going to end up with anything that would be fair, it's just not that possible to make it work if you have no idea how you could do it. I believe that the best thing we could do right now would be just making sure that life is not all that complicated and ETF is not a must.

We should not go down in price just because ETF is not getting accepted, we should be considering that as nothing but just a helper, it would make sense for it to go up if it gets approved, because we would all be happy, but that also doesn't mean that it should go down if we are at a stage where it is not getting accepted should equal to sadness and drop, that should not happen.

Here we go!

Bitcoin ETF approved, and price surges past $48,000

And here we go, Bitcoin ETF approved and after a few more hours price dives below $43,000.

Yeah, and so far since the news, the price remains at $43k. But despite that, at least we heard that good news already, maybe it's price in already, or we need the market to just settle down a bit first and then wait for the halving to happen first before institutions pour their money on the market.

And just like any good news, the effect might not be felt instantly as we all know that everything is pure speculation in the market and there are also some entities that is going to manipulate, sell the news and FOMO. But at least the price is above $40k'ish before the halving and for me that is good news already.

Well I hope you are not right about that. I think we are all waiting for the approval and think there will be big gains when this does happen.
New survey shows 88% of financial advisors expressed interest in acquiring BTC after approval. That is alot of money to come into the market.
https://www.fxstreet.com/cryptocurrencies/news/bitwise-survey-almost-90-of-financial-advisors-plan-to-buy-bitcoin-post-spot-btc-etf-approvals-202401042100

The ETF approval was done today and you can read on some other threads in th bitcoin discussion board where the thread that announced the ETF approval was made and already in the news so let see what impacts the bitcoin ETF approval will be on the market is the days roll by, this approval have been waited for quite a while now and even though when the sec gave the green light the approvals is going to come in January 2024 many did not believe that and for sure it was a great news when I saw that thread some hours ago.

Just take a look at the news on check the thread to get more updates and I am sure that thread will be at the top of the board since the discussion will attract alot of attention since this is what we have being looking forward to see.
Whether ETF is approved or not, there will always be bitcoin. There has been Bitcoin before the ETF approval news came up. Even if the approval fails, the bitcoin price will just dip and still rise again because there is bull run. From all indications ETF will be approved and if not approved already.

@Wiwo, did you say that ETF bitcoin is approved already? Where is the thread or the link?

Bitcoin ETF approved, and price surges past $48,000

Bitcoin has surged by more than 8% since the approval of the ETF. We've been eagerly awaiting a development like this for quite some time. Bitcoin had already gained a lot of attention in anticipation of this ETF previously. I anticipate a correction coming soon, at least that's what I hope for. It's a classic "sell the news" scenario, and there might be a rotation toward BTC.

Its not really that hard to make some simple google search and trying to find out on whats the result of that ETF application whether its been approved or not.

Its been approved and 11 of those applications had passed and thats a good news.
Lets just see the inflow of those institutional funds that would flow into this market, yes it does sounds good but we shouldn't forget
on what are the things that will really be affected.  Cool

ETF will probably not approved yet, so BTC and the others crypto will go down !!

I heard it today at night from the man, who has that supposedly from a trusted source... Of course it is not guaranteed information, but why risk. When I sell the crypto and the news will confirmed, it will save me thousands, and if not, nothing happens, I just buy it back before the price rises. When I think about it, the more people will sell, the more the price drops, so even if the message will not confirmed, it could help too, because at the same price everyone would get more ...
Hope it will help to people...

We are hearing rumors both ways. Some say it will be approved others say it will be rejected.
Exactly. As long as there is no official announcement from SEC, we will always hear rumors whether it will be approved or rejected. I think it is not so surprising why people too much focus on this case. People expect much on the good news from ETF in the near future, but I personally don't think it will be announced by SEC very soon. Even if they will announce it, I guess they won't claim to approve or reject it! They will postpone the decision.  Grin

But if you look at the chart for the last few hours, we hit a new yearly high and we are still going up. Seems some news might of leaked and I think some people are trying to get in on the action before it’s approved officially and prices go even higher.
The price of Bitcoin looks quite stable, it just fluctuate around $43k -$44k. I think most people prefer to see & wait about the news from ETF. They won't try to speculate too much to do certain decisions now.

We did have recently that SEC account hack
Bitcoin ETF hopefuls still expect SEC approval despite social media hack
https://www.reuters.com/technology/bitcoin-etf-hopefuls-still-expect-sec-approval-despite-social-media-hack-2024-01-10/

We are indeed still hopeful that ETF would really be that approved despite with that recent issue that have surfaced out. Honestly, it was really that unexpected on which no one really have thought
that they would be able to play out with those kind of game or manipulation.  Grin

They are just to wise on making use this ETF approval or event for them to milk out money. Yes, we cant really make out some conclusion that this is really that a
manipulation but the way it looks then it is really just that too pretty obvious.

Price and talking about events then im not sure that every news that would come out will really be that believable on which it could really be
giving out that kind of doubt.

It's obvious that you made the post before the sudden fall that caught people unaware last week, I am so sure that a lot of buy positions would have been liquidated by it. It happened unexpectedly and it is a result of the mixed position of the ETF approval and rejections where it eventually had more rejection views than the approval, which is why the market sold off sharply. Ever since then, Bitcoin has been moving in a tight range and has been below the much-anticipated $45,000 of the end of last year again. Staying below this level which is perceived to be a strong resistance level now is not a good call for the coin, however, the outcome of the ETF is still very important.

Holding below the level and the ETF is rejected can't be a good sign for Bitcoin as it may fall shortly to hit $40,000, and breaking below the level means more ill for the market. However, if the ETF is approved and Bitcoin moves higher than $45,000 and even close above the level, I don't think it would be long for it to hit the $50,000 psychological level or even breach the level high.

The prices has gone down, and I do not think that it is a long term one, I am sure that it is just a correction and the price will go up even more. I know that it is not that easy, but we should see this as a chance, and that means we are going to end up with a good return one way or another. I hope that we could make some profit by going higher, and that starts earlier, if we keep risking it, then we can't really make any big changes all that quickly, so we should be careful.

I believe that a 44k or so level would be good enough, it is not too high, it is not unrealistic and it gives people a hope that we are recovering anyway. That would allow people to have hope again, and they would feel easier about buying, and they would feel less likely to sell.

For sure majority of us are already prepared with certain things to happen with that ETF approval and if its denied then expect that the price would really drop since maybe there are lot of people will get dismayed for the result. But don't spread to much fear since it will not work here since a lot of people experience those past ETF rejection and this is not really a big deal to anyone especially for experience people. But if it happens that it gets denied again then be it there will be more ETF submissions will happen in future and for sure one of that will get approve then we see bitcoin hit another level of adoption since there's something like this exist already. For now there's nothing wrong to follow with latest update about this news and I think this is the best thing to do especially if we have balance to use for DCA.
I dont know if its true or not but it seems it didnt really give out such impact when it comes into its price. Yes, it did really make out some correction but not really that too deep.
We have witnessed and experienced decline percentage on the price on yesterday as far as i remember but eventually it did really make out some immediate recovery.

Here's some headlines that i have seen out.
The marketwide decline came after Matrixport published its analysis claiming that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will reject all the Bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded fund (ETF) applications this month
https://crypto.news/why-is-crypto-down-today-matrixport-and-other-fud/

Dont know if this one is already final or really just that still rumors on which if this one would really be having that kind of delay or rejection.
Then we might be seeing another correction which might be able to touch up that 37-38k support but not really that going lower.

Eloncoin.org - Mars, here we come!

But as I already said, ETFs will be approved soon. OP is just spreading FUD with his throwaway newbie account for whatever reason.
One thing is only sure to happen and that is OP will never come back after posting this and with that You
may be right that he is just spreading FUD here and nothing to support His claim about the
No Approval thing of Spot ETF.

Regardless if the SEC will reject it, that wouldn't alone drag bitcoin price down and selling at this early because of such reason is definitely not a good idea. You might not be able to buy back at a more affordable price than last year.
That is totally what will happen now , like yours I also thought that the news will drag the price dumping but
just to know it was only correction as there are many who sold their holdings to cut their profits and may see another climb again back
at 45k .

There has been rumors or rather an assertion that the SEC will reject bitcoin spot ETF in the last 24 hrs, but I believe It wasn't the main reason why bitcoin have dropped almost $4,000 in just 12 hrs after the news have surfaced in the internet. It was just a coincidence where a lot of people have sold at $45,000. Look at how it bounce a couple of grand again today. So, there's no way bitcoin could go down the OP was trying to portray to get to a good entry point or in other words, bitcoin will not go $30,000 level or below especially now that we are closely approaching the bitcoin halving.

I don't think anyone will help you rebroadcast this as it is not a fact yet, and neither is any evidence to back this up. Well, all I know is that it is either the SEC approves it or rejects it, one must happen, but you are right that Bitcoin will fall if they reject it, and so are altcoins. Despite the outcome, I do not think that it can be so devastating for cryptocurrency, that time is not now, there is FOMO everywhere, and even if there is FUD, it would be doused pretty soon, the sentiment of the market outweighs every other thing.

Bitcoin might sell shortly if it is rejected, but I do not see it breaching $35,000 lower anymore, which is fair enough. It might continue to hover around that level when the halving happens and the post-halving effect will help it to grow over time. Nonetheless, we should prepare for the worst as we are only speculating, who knows, the actual event might be better or worse. Also, I do not expect Bitcoin to buy so much after the ETF approval, it will buy but not as many would have expected. The anticipating time has priced that expectation in effectively, so I believe that Bitcoin might not react so well after it.
I feel like that's quite true, I do not think that it will go down just yet, not that much at least. Look at how the price goes up, and that should be the indicator that people needs to realize that ETF is not a must for it to go up. Way too many people think that it will go up only if ETF gets accepted, but that's not true, it is not accepted yet and even without any ETF, the price still did a x3 increase  from the bottom, which is the proof that we need to understand that ETF is not a must.

If anyone out there waiting for ETF to get accepted before they invest, then they are making a big mistake, they should invest before that. I believe that price is still at a good place right now and it could potentially go up even more, we just need to make sure that people are attracted to it good enough. I believe that if we end up with something that will benefit us, then we are going to end up with something that should be just bitcoin itself, be attracted to that.
The people that are still at the sidelines waiting for the approval of a bitcoin ETF are the same people that were waiting for the bottom to take place before buying and they have not done so yet, those people are always looking for the perfect moment to buy, not realizing that when it comes to good assets if the price is far away from its previous ATH and a bullish season is coming then that is a good moment to buy, so they either take the risk now or they will have to buy bitcoin when it is way more expensive.

I don't know the source of your information but that is your own opinion. Everything investment has a level of risk attached to it. I don't really care about the ETF because Bitcoin doesn't rely on it to be profitable. Bitcoin reached  all-time high price of $68,789.63 without these institutional investors, so the decision of the SEC is not my problem. Even if the price goes down, it will surely go up with time.

ETF will probably not approved yet, so BTC and the others crypto will go down !!

You're an idiot for selling your crypto because of unconfirmed news.  Selling cryptos based on rumors rarely pans out well.  While the excitement around a potential ETF approval is understandable, acting on unconfirmed news tends to backfire and  instead of panicking, the wiser move is simply to hold steady. Whatever happens with the ETF the market will respond accordingly.

You don't call somebody an idiot for making a decision. The money is his own and not yours so he should be allowed to make his Investment decision. The Bitcoin space also needs people like this to make the market profitable. At least somebody will buy at a cheap price from people who want to dump their coin because of FUD.

Unfortunately, the one you are saying "trusted source" has lied to you. Tongue

One thing more is that do you think ETF is the only reason for Bitcoin to go up? I mean we still have the halving event, and just based on history, the price of Bitcoin tends to increase a few months after the event happened. ETF approval will have a huge impact on the price of Bitcoin, but if "ALL" of the Spot Bitcoin ETFs that have been applied to SEC get rejected (which is highly unlikely), it will only have little to no effect on the price. Maybe we will see a sharp decline for a day, but many will just take the opportunity to buy more Bitcoin at a lower price.

Overall, OP is just one of the anti-Bitcoins out there remaining. Instead of spewing nonsense, focus only your life, and just buy Bitcoin. Cheesy

He hasn't been wrong yet. It is still just speculation that the ETF is coming. There are a lot of rumors, but still no official statement. There has been a phase like this before and then the speculators were caught on the wrong foot. I'm neither pro nor con on the ETF thing, but I would remain cautious if I'm just betting on a short-term bull run.

We are hearing rumors both ways. Some say it will be approved others say it will be rejected.

But if you look at the chart for the last few hours, we hit a new yearly high and we are still going up. Seems some news might of leaked and I think some people are trying to get in on the action before it’s approved officially and prices go even higher.

Yeah you are right the rumors have been heavily strong and many ETF experts have been so much predictive that a sec announcement will be made this week or at most 10 of January last I read, this has made the market so bullish. Other thing affect the price pump is the bonds facing bearish period and the likes of real estate and stock looking too over bought and many institutions are leaning towards the bitcoin as a safe heaven for now.

It’s all looking good but should a postponement happens then we will be taking a little correction in the market

this means the movement now is just a BS market? https://coinmarketcap.com/ that is
frustrating for my side that expect great return as the market showing constant increase?
There are less than two weeks left until we know the news, but the only constant is that, no matter how positive or negative it is, by the end of the year we will be above $50,000 unless something very bad happens. Approval of ETFs will make the price rise dramatically, and non-approval will make the price fall and it will rise in the end. In 2020, we had a V shape due to covid19, and it took several months until Bitcoin reached 69k, starting from 6k.
we almost broke that 50k in 2024 so maybe we will be seeing this at the middle of 2023?
or we will be facing dumping first before it will finally hit 50k again?

I don't think that if bitcoin ETF is not approved before the halving that the price of bitcoin will fall drastically. The halving is also what is triggering the price but I know that ETF  rumors is also playing its own role on the high price of bitcoin currently.

Years before now when bitcoin price was still doing great and follows history even without any news on the approval so I believe that we will still have a good price even though SEC failed to approve ETF and the bull run bitcoin price will hit above $100k, but if finally SEC approves it, the price will skyrocket and it will be a win win for investors.

Remember, Bitcoin price isn't only affected by ETFs approval, the halving event will give a huge effect. The last bullrun happen during recession after Covid pandemic, right now the world economy are more stable than before, so I don't see any big thing could deny the bull season which will expected to happen this or next year.

Go ahead, spread this baseless information around so that everybody can buy at a cheaper price. You will be helping a lot of people as well as BlackRock and other huge financial institutions that are already positioning themselves for the upcoming bull run and wider adoption.

I doubt if you have much, but sell what you have if this is what you believe in. However, if you still want them back, be ready with a bigger amount because you will be buying them back at a higher cost.

There is indeed a possibility that a spot Bitcoin ETF won't be approved soon. But that doesn't mean the price would go down. The US spot Bitcoin ETF is a story of rejection after rejection after rejection. But, hey, look at the price of Bitcoin. It's approaching $50,000.

Investors relying on ETFs must face losses if ETFs are not approved. But there is no information that the ETF will be approved or not. Various types of fake news exist on online platforms. Some are assuming SEC will give approval and some others are not. There will be mixed reactions in the market with the issue. But as an investor you have to make your own decision considering the loss. It should also plan in advance what action should be taken if the ETF is not approved. The current market condition is positive and if ETF is not approved at this point then the price may change for a short period of time.

Don't pay too much attention or rely on ETFs because the ETF problem has been around for a long time and in reality does not affect the price increase and growth of Bitcoin, And the big picture over time. more and more people are seeing Bitcoin as a valid reserve asset, and not subject to inflation and if you believe this, Bitcoin should not be based on an ETF or anything else.
And if the ETF doesn't agree for the umpteenth time, there will likely only be a short-term price decline. However, in the long term, Bitcoin will continue to rise and develop because investors or everyone realizes that Bitcoin is an investment and also the best asset among others.

If Bitcoin ETF is not confirmed, then what? Do you think that the majority of Bitcoin holders will cry and sell their Bitcoin because they are afraid that the Bitcoin price will drop when it is not/has not been confirmed? only speculators are afraid when this happens, because they invest only for short-term profits, like you do. On the other hand, holders who invest for the long term will hold their Bitcoin and don't care whether the Bitcoin ETF is accepted or not, because it doesn't really affect Bitcoin's future development.

The price of Bitcoin isn't dependent on a Bitcoin spot ETF. Whether a Bitcoin spot ETF in the US will be approved soon or not, it doesn't matter. Bitcoin has reached almost $70,000 even before an application for a Bitcoin spot ETF was filed. It could get back to that price and even surpass that with or without a Bitcoin spot ETF.

But the question of a Bitcoin spot ETF is a matter of when and not if. So whether all the applications will be rejected soon, they will all just refile their applications. And many more will join them. Meanwhile, Bitcoin doesn't care.

There will always be people who try to spread FUD about Bitcoin. These individuals aim to make people into selling their crypto holdings, causing them to incur losses. It is important to remember not to trust such individuals, and some even ask for help to spread FUD on social media platforms.

much better to buy when there lots of rumors and when the news comes for sure the price will go up, because new and panic traders will try to bag a lot , that will be the time to sell, since I have witness etf being rejected many times, although this time big and well known company like BlackRock is in the picture, so I'm 50/50 in this situation but we must always be cautious of the situation.

Well, this strategy only works if the ETFs are going to be rejected again and again. If once it got approved you are going to FOMO as many others too. If I would bet on a long term success of Bitcoin (meaning positive price development), this strategy would be too risky for me.

It's funny news I heard for the 1st time this year. I just know it from you if the bitcoin price is very dependent on ETF. You have to know In 2021 ETF news not massive as now, but the bitcoin price was create a new ATH of $69K, so what does that happen?, is that effect of ETF?, I think not because bitcoin price is not influenced by one side news, but from several people who just bought bitcoin which understand the bitcoin technology, not because of the news or awesome thing.

You won't be easily influenced by small things, ETFs are just whales' trinkets to get more profit. Because the Bitcoin price will be rise if the people really buy original form on the spot or p2p market.

Lots of ETFs have been presented and rejected over the years and we are still posting good gains year over year. ETFs are not the only ones defining the trend on bitcoin prices as there are always other factors entailed to it. Also, with lots of approval in the past years, I'm pretty sure those who applied recently have checked the boxes that other applicants prior have failed to check. As I see it, there isn't anything that is getting in the way of ETFs to be approved, just the SEC or their counterparts on other countries.

There is absolutely no way that ETFs are not going to get approved. There just is not anything of substance blocking the approval.

If anything, if it did happen (somehow), a non-approval will be for the reason of pure market manipulation. Once the price of Bitcoin is lowered down just enough, and all the shady characters have filled their wallets, the ETFs will get approved at a later date.

But as I already said, ETFs will be approved soon. OP is just spreading FUD with his throwaway newbie account for whatever reason.

final updates of 29th december:
we are very encouraged by our partner 21share, we had crossed every T dotted every i to the secs satisfaction. i think the message about the 29th is, 'look if your not ready to go on or around january 10th, then do not submit any more to us, because we have too much to do here'. this is also encouraging because it seems like the SEC is setting a deadline for itself, which is great

there is other news. like

It is simple. We are all speculating and there is definitely no confirmation yet whether it will be approved or not. And as someone who is just also speculating depending on the mood of the approvers, there is nothing for me to worry about because with or without these ETFs, I am no doubt going to hold for long term. We shouldn't be discouraged if it gets declined or all of it didn't get an approval. We've got the best factor for BTC's bull run and that is halving.
