Can Ethereum surge past Bitcoin in this upcoming Bull Market? The supply has dropped a lot and it's no more inflationary, I think with this, Ethereum will make a new all-time high we have never seen before, do you think I am wrong?

bitcoin will always be on top no matter what happens in the crypto world.
because the price movements of all altcoins are affected by btc prices.
therefore btc is irreplaceable.

I'm sure that the next bull market will definitely make the price of Ethereum increase very high and even make a new ATH price, but for Ethereum surge past Bitcoin I don't think it's possible, because the price of Bitcoin will definitely increase very high and make a new ATH price too, even my prediction if Bitcoin price increased higher than Ethereum.
Seeing as Ethereum can pass Bitcoin I guess it's only a small possibility,
indeed there is no guarantee that Bitcoin will always be on top but we also have to see how the movement of the two coins after the bull market,
let's see what happens in the future.
I don't know if Bitcoin will stay where it is now. I think Bitcoin can do better. But Ethereum will never compete with Bitcoin. Because of the popularity that Bitcoin has.  Ethereum doesn't have it. So what will happen in the future can't be said.

It is deflationary however the supply is still huge for ETH. The amount that gets burnt is very small compared to the total amount of ETH out there. And keep in mind that if the fees goes down then the ETH fees burnt also go down. There is no guarantee that the fees will always be high. Days like today they were low.

The higher the marketcap, the less chance of a coin to increase in price. Little amount of money pumped into low marketcap coin can result to high increase in the price of the coin.

Ether is having lower marketcap to bitcoin, definitely the price may increase than bitcoin, but many other altcoins too. Many other altcoins that have lower marketcap to ether can increased in price than ether also.

Altcoins can pump more than bitcoin generally because they have low marketcap.
Yes, I agree with this point. Altcoins, including Ethereum, have the potential to experience more significant price increases due to their lower market cap compared to Bitcoin. However, it's essential to remember that the cryptocurrency market is highly volatile and unpredictable. While Ethereum may indeed surpass its previous all-time high, it's not guaranteed that it will outperform Bitcoin in the upcoming bull market. Factors such as adoption, technology improvements, and market sentiment will all play a role in determining the performance of each cryptocurrency.

ETH. It’s still easier to grow than BTC and with more upgrades and integration of DeFi/smart contracts/NFTs into the mainstream, I can see it having a better % year than BTC.

so much money wasted on gas fee alone already making this blockchain unsustaining logically but until now it seems many projects are kept choosing ethereum for some reasons.
eth perform better because it's the first ever smart contract based blockchain and huge amount of users still heavily prefer this blockchain.

The deflationay was making ethereum become even more stable. The ability for anyone to stake or unstake their ethereum has been also making the price is going very high. It's remain even more stable at this moment. I think that the price of ethereum is still depending with bitcoin.
Bitcoin is still showing stable performance this time. Eth could outperform btc due to the deflationary but this also depends on how big the hype.

Q Blockchain redistributes gas fees to Q holders instead of burning them. This is a more sustainable model for the longevity of the chain because it reduces friction for users. Several other L2s and chains have 0 fees, which will soon make Ethereum uncompetitive.

Ethereum is like a queen and Bitcoin would still be a king. and now Ethereum become more efficient has dozen of layer 2 and transactions are cheap and fast since becoming PoS and you all already know that Ethereum has a bunch of Decentralized Projects like DeFi, GameFi, and lot other.

But the Ethereum still had unlimited supply and the new system like deflationary and tx burn maybe slow down the supply but now it reached more that supply of bitcoin so replacing from number one is not quite there yet but has possibilities in my opinion.

But altcoin like etherum is good to watch maybe if bitcoin reach 100% from current price eth can perform higher like 150-200% so it always good to wacth

Ethereum will not pump because it is unuseable due to gas fees. Users have moved to newer chains with low to 0 gas fees. Polygon has low gas fees and Q Blockchain has free transactions when you consider that they have gas fee redistribution.

I disagree, people used ethereum even during times when gas used to cost in hundreds (when eth was around $4k), this very gas spikes show that ethereum is being used a lot. I am pretty sure it'll reach $7k in next bull run.

While I think that Ethereum won't be able to surpass Bitcoin in terms of price yet, I think that in terms of potential profits there is a bit of a chance. And yes, I too think that there is a huge chance for us to see another ATH for Ethereum, not just a small one at that but one that is a lot higher that the most recent ATH of Ethereum. A lot of people may already be seeing this and are already stacking up on Ethereum as much as they can. Even the people I interact with like friends and friends of friends are also stacking up on Ethereum and has quite a positive outlook on it.

forget about deflationary, eth could perform better if it could solve the fee, there is reason layer 2 could take up huge chunk of eth market share that is because fee, if fee is not problem, then these l2 are pretty much useless, but we all know ethereum will just keep charging $200 for simple NFT minting so this blockchain isn't really deflationary.

Fee reduction is in the roadmap. NFT mint costs about $30 at current gas prices with 80 gwei. You can track the required ETH/USD for NFT mints and other things in real-time here. Ethereum is still deflationary regardless of gas costs.

L2s will continue to exist despite ethereum solves it's scalability problems, as there will always be room for further improvement. Furthermore, they have already been widely adopted, there is no going back.

No, you're not wrong because there are some signs Ethereum price has displayed few weeks ago that made holders to have faith in their holding that they will have something good to achieve this year. I don't think, Ethereum will pump more than Bitcoin in this season because whenever the price of Bitcoin is rising Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies will be rising too, show that Bitcoin will continue leading the cryptocurrencies. If you have money to invest in this period, I will advise you to invest in Ethereum because the price will allow you to purchase huge amount of Ethereum and hold until the price rise higher before you can sell to make a good profits.

...The supply has dropped a lot and it's no more inflationary, I think with this, Ethereum will make a new all-time high we have never seen before, do you think I am wrong?

Ethereum is considered one of the undervalued coins, so it would be right to expect a new ATH, which we must see on the bull run. And the fact that Ethereum has become deflationary after the merger only adds to the confidence that the price of ETH will increase.
I still believe that ETH will be able to reach another ATH in this coming bull season, it grows together with others but yes, somewhat not far from the previous ATH. Honestly, the merger disappoints us investors/holders as it never helps the situation and sadly it causes huge fees as well. However, despite what we face today, we know the trust of the people remains and more people will take the opportunity to buy ETH while the price is still low.
Demand will continuously grow as per to see when the halving is coming, this is also the situation in the previous years and comes to happens again.

Ethereum has seen significant growth and adoption over the past few years, driven by its ability to enable smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps) on its blockchain. In contrast, Bitcoin has been widely recognized as the first and most valuable cryptocurrency, with a significant market capitalization and adoption rate.

It's worth mentioning here that the performance of both cryptocurrencies will be influenced by a range of factors, including their adoption rates, network effects, technological advancements, market conditions, and regulatory environments. While Ethereum's supply reduction and deflationary pressure may contribute to its performance, they are not the only factors that will influence its value.

Definitely possible that Ethereum could surge past Bitcoin, especially considering the drop in supply and it being less inflationary now.

But In 2023, it's difficult to say exactly what the market will look like at that point. However, based on current trends, it's likely that the cryptocurrency market will continue to grow and evolve. I may see the emergence of new technologies and platforms, as well as increased regulation from governments.

I think, it's always a bit unpredictable with these markets, but I think there's a chance that Ethereum could reach new all-time highs like you mentioned. So, you might not be wrong at all, but you know, only time will tell!

According to Coinmarketcap the total supply of Ethereum has reached 120 million coins,
but we don't know what will happen in the future because Ethereum is also currently using the PoS algorithm where validators will also be very important,
maybe the total supply of Ethereum can also increase in the coming year.

Whether Ethereum can surpass Bitcoin in a bull market is difficult to answer with certainty. However, it can be seen that Ethereum is on a strong track in both technology and investor concerns. This could be a sign that Ethereum may overtake Bitcoin in the future. With a decrease in supply and no more inflation, this could help create more momentum for Ethereum's price increase in the near-term. However, whether the market goes up or down is very unpredictable and depends on many factors. So I cannot claim that you are wrong or right in your opinion.

I think the deflationary talk is just another pumpalogy to allow people to keep believing in Ethereum, I don't see how this is going to have an effect on the price long term, there are a lot of projects in the space offering what Ethereum doesn't have especially the L2 and I can foresee in future when these L2 have moved to Beta, they will stop using Ethereum for gas but will opt for their own tokens.
If nothing made you believe into ETH then this will not be the one that will. This is a smaller reason for ETH to go up and I agree that it is not the main reason why it would be, hence if you do not believe that ETH will be higher and stay at second position, then look at the rate will not change anything for you at all.

However, for those of us who think that this will do better, I think this is a good reason and should not be ignored, I believe in ETH anyway, so this doesn't even matter. Why do I believe in ETH? I believe in it because it has done so well so far and it has provided a lot of tokens as well, all those projects will want to prop up ETH whenever they can to make sure it does well so they can do well too.

This is not the only reason why ETH could perform better. I think it is important to remember that almost all the big name tokens came out under ETH, which means that ETH grows when the projects under it's umbrella grows as well. This is what happened in 2 big bull runs nowadays and I think it is going to continue to be like that for a while longer.

People are not entirely sure about the gas fee situation, we know that there are alternatives with better gas fee and maybe projects may not pick ETH anymore. But the fact is that this was true on the last one as well and yet everyone preferred ETH anyway, that should tell you something about the situation in the market and what people are willing to do for profit.

-cut-
I would normally agree but when coin is deflationary it changes the rules with normal marketcap approach a little bit. Technically the coin amount reduces it can drop the marketcap while increasing the price. I am however uncertain if there are still more tokens burned then issued via staking it. But however i am certain that many coins and tokens out there doesn't have as sustainable and as well thought tokenomic game theory as eth.

I don't think that's ever going to happen in the market, because personally I'm picturing the whole market like a tree. And the roots of that tree can be compared to BTC, and the trunk represents the main blockchain platforms in the market, and the branches and leaves are the utility altcoins in this market.
So over time, no matter how big the tree is, it is impossible to ignore the important part of the roots to feed the whole tree.

Whether Ethereum will surpass Bitcoin in the upcoming bull market is difficult to say for sure. It's important to remember, though, that over the past few years.
Ethereum has been steadily overtaking Bitcoin in terms of market capitalization and adoption.
Just monitor Bitcoin's dominance because it may help you to identify the next move of Ethereum, remember that Ethereum got a huge dominance over other altcoins.

It depends on what you mean by that, if you mean that ethereum could grow at a faster pace than bitcoin then that could be a possibility, but if you are implying that ethereum could take the place of bitcoin as the best coin in this market then I will tell you I do not think that is ever going to happen, while many people are happy about the transition ethereum made to proof of stake I can tell you many others are not happy about it, as this made ethereum a centralized altcoin not worth to compete to bitcoin anymore.

the thing with ethereum, it could have the risk of its market capitalization being eaten up by the L2s, the presence of L2 are like a proof that ethereum just simply couldn't solve their own problems. it could literally become double edged sword.
moreover right now attention of the people are not fixated on ethereum anymore. just see the L2s statistic in their price chart the recent days they all increasing massively despite the fact that they've got some massive airdrops their value still retains quite good actually.

I don't care if Ethereum surpasses Bitcoin or not, it doesn't matter much because I am here for the gains I could make out of these coins instead of wanting to see them perform better than the others, bitcoin will remain in the first rank on coinmarketcap no matter how many billions a project gets with its marketcap, whales and retail investors always go for Bitcoin first because they understand better.

I don't know why some people are bent on seeing Ethereum surpass Bitcoin on the CMC, forgetting that there are other tokens lower in the CMC that also have the potential to surpass Ether, BNB has more potential to surpass Ethereum than Ethereum surpassing BTC. All these L2s will drive away value from Ethereum, just look at what happened with other Ethereum killers in the last bull market, Polygon, Avax, Luna, Solana, BNB, Cardano, etc. all perform better than Ethereum, I believe the L2 will be the Ethereum Killers of this cycle and will perform far better than Ethereum.

Bull market will be big but I think Bitcoin will still be the leader of crypto market.
There's a lot of new good projects under ETH network, this could be the best chance for them to rise again so its good to buy some now while its still cheap. Though expect a correction with the market right now as most of the crypto can't surpass their current resistance level, this could be your chance now to buy. ETH will make its new ATH, same thing with Bitcoin so there's no need to compare here, have both as much as possible.

In theory, I and you both believe that ETH will reach new ATHs in the future, but the issue of comparing it to BTC is, I think, unnecessary because in my opinion BTC will forever hold its current position in the future. the market no matter how many other things appear, BTC will not lose its essence of representing the entire market.
Although recent improvements are making ETH stronger, remember that other competitors are also rising stronger.

Outperforming Bitcoin - This can be a daunting task for Ethereum as Bitcoin is the first and most famous cryptocurrency to have the highest market capitalization to date. However, Ethereum has unique advantages over Bitcoin, such as faster transactions and the ability to create smart contracts that can attract more users and investors.
With Ethereum's supply declining and offering more functionality than Bitcoin, this could be the catalyst for Ethereum's rise in the upcoming bull market. However, it should be noted that the cryptocurrency market is highly volatile and no one can predict the future with accuracy.

We all see that ETH is doing very well in the market, but from what you mentioned it seems to be an exaggeration. First of all, it is necessary to accept the fact that BTC will not have a competitor in the crypto market, and that the recent changes in ETH are very good things, I think ETH's position at the moment as well as in the future will always be maintained.

Soaring past bitcoin seems too much. When bitcoin can survive in a bearish bitcoin solid state it's extraordinary. Bitcoin goes up, ethereum also tends to go up, Ethereum follows the movement of Bitcoin. So to be able to outperform Bitcoin is still quite far. The main dominance is still owned by Bitcoin and Ethereum only has a few percent dominance. Just hope that Ethereum can reach a new ATH again when Bitcoin also reaches a new ATH.

Given the problem of deflation, I think bitcoin vs pow is the best place to fight inflation, which for me is still better than removing more focus on eth.
Deflation isn't a problem and what makes bitcoin as the best asset to fight inflation is due to its supply limit and rewards being cut in half on the miners through halving.

The trend of ETH will continue to depend on bitcoin.  ETH will still perform as well as it does now, but without having to depend on deflation and probably not.
It's true, it's still depending on bitcoin no matter how good the upgrades are. But for those that are not confident, then just take both of them on your portfolios.

That's the type of diversification that everyone should have because it's securing you. You've got bitcoin as it moves the market very well and you've got ETH to diversify since it's also one of the biggest market movers that we've got here.

Nothing is off limits but i have hard time trusting that ETH would get higher marketcap than bitcoin. It will be having new ATH, that's for sure.
But people have been predicting that it would flip bitcoin and be nr1 in marketcap since eth started and every time it ends in the bear market and huge drop in eth price.
I would definitely welcome it to nr1 place but not before it has scaled and fees are fraction of the current fees.

So far, no plans to announce how to optimize eth's deflation after moving to pos?  It is understood that the deflationary structure of eth still does not achieve the same high level of trust as bitcoin.  There won't be any change to bitcoin's position, ETH may reach new ATH in future and it will depend on bitcoin for sure.  Accompanied by burning along with pushing power into the hands of the rich, eth also becomes more centralized.  I personally have always doubted it and it only increases the importance of bitcoin but ETH is still the soul of altcoins and it is still a good choice to seek long-term profits.

i don't eth will surpass bitcoin in terms of marketcap.

Yeah, BTC will always be on the first spot. No coin can beat BTC in terms of pricing, market cap and others. It may be true that some coin follows BTC but I think ETH is different among them. Don't forget that ETH is also an equivalent of Bitcoin but only in the altcoin category. We can even say that other alts follow ETH.

ETH already proved many times that it is not dependent in Bitcoin. It's a big coin and also has lots of supporters so it can always move on its own. Overall I am still proud of ETH if the coins supply have truly dropped and now more deflationary than before. Maybe the transition of it to POS does help a lot to create these these new changes.

Ethereum will grow higher than what we used to see in the past bull market but its never going to overtake Bitcoin position, the insanely high market cap of Bitcoin should be enough to confuse you, it is never going to happen, Ethereum is the best and the leader of altcoins but when it comes to Bitcoin, it stands no chance.

Well, I think you are not totally right. Ethereum might grow pretty high and even have a new all-time high but for it to surpass Bitcoin doesn't really seem like a possible feat to cross in my opinion. Ethereum is one of the top cryptocurrencies and the best one among altcoins, and no one can deny that, but comparing it to Bitcoin will be an injustice, I believe.

Ethereum can have a very high value, it has its own position which isn't really bad, and we should let things be the way they are instead of trying to replace places of coins or tokens.

It could but remember tho, BTC has always been the catalyst for the bull market in crypto overall.  The flippening depends on how much of the value that came into BTC would trickle down to ETH and stay in ETH.  I guess supply reduction helps but it really all depends on the demand.  I mean I'd like to see the flippening happen and I thought there was the possbility of it happening a couple of years ago but no.  It's a fun narrative but don't be too hopeful imo.

I am very sure that Ethereum will make its new all time high in future.

But I am doubtful that Ethereum will surge over Bitcoin in future. I believe it will never happen if you know Ethereum network has become more centralized after the Merge. Such centralization is not attractive to decentralization enthusiasts and cryptocurrency investors.

Interesting to see how supply of Ethereum has dropped dramatically after the Merge and its forecast.

even though ETH has jumped up to make new ath, still bitcoin will always lead above it.
i don't eth will surpass bitcoin in terms of marketcap.
and also keep in mind all altcoin prices depend on bitcoin.
The relationship between BTC/altcoin in this market we all know affects the price. And here the fact that ETH has achieved such success is a worthy result, its current position is enough to show it as one of the current irreplaceable cryptocurrencies.
In terms of current and future history, I don't see ETH's ability to surpass BTC, so no matter how the market moves, we will only see more and more similarity in the chart of btc and ETH.

Can Ethereum surge past Bitcoin in this upcoming Bull Market? The supply has dropped a lot and it's no more inflationary, I think with this, Ethereum will make a new all-time high we have never seen before, do you think I am wrong?
I first found that ETH works well when it comes to deflation.
However, the question is, do you feel the need to compare it to BTC again, with top cryptocurrencies like this it is a waste of time to see which is the best.
The truth here is that each is good in terms of the nature of its existence, BTC has been too cautious with the market and is almost the face of the entire market, ETH is similar after many years out. As life develops, they are growing and maintaining that.

If that's the reasoning then before that upgrade that Ethereum made, bitcoin is already known to be a deflationary cryptocurrency. In that case, if bitcoin surges, ETH goes with the flow, and yes possible that it can surge more than bitcoin but I'll hope more for bitcoin. But if bitcoin doesn't move at all then that means that altcoins including ETH will not move at all. That's why all of the altcoins including ETH are reliant on bitcoin's motion and even if there will be altcoins that will surge more than bitcoin, they're gonna do it temporarily. There can be an exception with ETH as it's at the top of the altcoins and very likely will stay there.

Nothing can best Bitcoin and it will remain this way for a long time, if you are talking about profits then altcoins will always do better because they have a smaller market cap than Bitcoin, if you want to maximize your profit go for altcoins instead of Bitcoin, you can make better money from Ethereum but Ethereum will never flip Bitcoin.

With what i can see for now, there's no other coin that can overcome bitcoin price during a bullrun no matter how they try hard the more they see lesser, the economy of bitcoin already set the pace other coins follows, as bitcoin go a little dip other coins fall massively but in the opposite way doesn't applies if bitcoin rises they also double the potential rising as bitcoin did, but their market cap and market volume during this period determines how far they can move.

You're on the wrong board, this should be on Altcoins boards or speculation boards.

To answer your question, I don't think so, IMO, Bitcoin still remains the dominant cryptocurrency with a market capitalization several times that of Ethereum.  While market capitalization alone does not determine the value of a crypto coin, though both of them have potential in the market but I strongly believe no one surpasses the Bitcoin market cap.

And I think burning transaction fees alone might not be a sustainable solution in the long run as it may lead to deflationary pressures and potentially limit the ability of a cryptocurrency to incentivize miners and validators.

Burning some transaction fees would not trigger a surge past Bitcoin and does not particularly changed how a protocol works.

I cannot predict on the next bull run and how much each currency would change in valuation, but Bitcoin wound still be the top cryptocurrency.

They have not recently starting burning supply but from few months but has ETH reach it's new ATH after that? You are making comparison with bitcoin of a centralised altcoin so it would never happen. At current the market cap for bitcoin is $533.17B with 19,320,762 while ETH is at $224.26B with 122,373,866 coins in circulation as per Coinmarketcap so do you think it can surpass it with this bull run?

I don't know with what calculations you are expecting it to happen but it will never happen and they have burnt the supply just to make their coins more valuable and if you care to look for gas (tx fees) you would not feel to make any transaction in it.The true deflationary nature lies with bitcoin not by burning supply you would make utility of your coins so bitcoin is true king.
