I think ETH and BTC can now be compared to gold and silver in traditional markets. Both coins have the highest market demand, but ETH will not displace BTC like silver will not displace gold. I think this discussion is useless, because BTC always was and always will be No.1 and all other altcoins come after it.

One important thing is that you just have to think that all the coins have their specificity. Bitcoin and ethereum both are assumed to be advantageous coins and in coming month they will be hopeful to give lots of revenue to its users. May be ethereum rise in price than the bitcoin but there is no surety as the condition of market is not constant it is unpredictable.
We have different kinds of altcoins that is doing well so if we will have your own coin then you choose you can be physically select your own perfect coin which you think that we did very well than any other coin that is why some people go to wrong investment of coin by buying a coin that is not relevant

ETH will never ever be worth more than bitcoin ($ value). That’s my simple prediction for you, I could get boring & talk about POW being a million times better than POS but I won’t.

Up to date, there is no coin can beat bitcoin value in cryptocurrency market.
Even for Ethereum that have #2 position in the market, it still can't beat bitcoin. Im afraid the Ethereum value will go down after PoS.
PoW coins are usually more valuable than other coins that have different algo.

These days Ethereum continues to be green and becomes a trigger for the market, if this happens until the end of the month then I am optimistic that the price of ETH can reach $ 2000 and this makes me optimistic that the target of $ 3000 this year can be achieved, and to be able to pass Bitcoin, of course it needs a surprise that bigger because marketcap is still half of Bitcoin

I think that Ethereum is on its way to gaining more trust from organizations around the world, although the update will make it more centralized and controlled by a few influential people (Whales).
The world's policies tend to reduce energy consumption in general as a necessary step as long as the exploitation of clean energies is not currently sufficient to meet the planet's energy needs. Therefore, many legislations will aim to reduce the current consumption.

^ Definitely right and I agree with you.
It seems we have heard hundreds of articles or even here comparing both BTC and ETH, I did not see any potential of the ETH that can surpass BTC at all.
It is always a matter of supply and demand and I think ETH cannot do that, regarding the technology behind BTC, it always has an advantage on the BTC side and I think that is the best asset.

I think yes, you're the only one seeing such a thing for now. Ethereum has a big potential but it can't reach the same path as Bitcoin. Ethereum has had huge development for years but it can't take over Bitcoin because Bitcoin is also continuously growing and being known and adopted in most corners of the world. Eth still has a lot to prove and things to go through before it surpasses Bitcoin's spot.

Af far as I can see with the price chart of Bitcoin and Ethereum, both is almost the same so I wouldn't say that eth could take over. For now, it won't happen but who knows that in the future it will take over BTC yet no one will know when that will happen. All I can say is that Bitcoin is the father of all cryptocurrency so, taking it over won't be an easy task in my opinion. You didn't even provide the analyis you did that you said eth is decoupling from btc.

After drop suddenly under $1,000 last few weeks ago right now ETH success break out $2,000 and most profitable if you have been an investor on ethereum coins, looks good alternative way when investing with ethereum because price always break up and have chance back to higher price again if bitcoin success touch higher price above $30,000. Ethereum looks consistent reaching higher price if bitcoin not get drop suddenly but best time keep reinvesting with ethereum when get moment at lower price. I think few days later if bitcoin keep stable reaching higher price actually ethereum will allow with bitcoin price and make higher price again above $2,000.

No, they can't be compared like that... not if you know at least something about how BTC works and what ETH can do! Different dimensions!

If this happens and Ethereum becomes a better target for institutional then it is finished

And when will that be? Last year I decided to stop using ETH and their tokens, after years in the Ethereum world, I assume as many others! We who really use crypto find some other chains much better, read cheaper and faster transactions! Why would we pay so high fees on ETH chain when we can do the same on some other chain?!

I am afraid if Ethereum doesn't do something fast it will be taken over by some other similar projects that are making incredible progress in the last years!

There is no way Ethereum can take over Bitcoin which had been in existence in the market since the beginning of the crypto world. Well Ethereum has so much importance and uses compared to Bitcoin but still yet Bitcoin will still continue controlling the market as long as the cryptocurrencies market exist. There are other good crypto projects like Ethereum too which will still be in competition with it just like the BSC network. All this coin projects are there to compete with Ethereum not Bitcoin in particular.

It is a paradigm shift. Ethereum is leading current mini rally of crypto market because final date of merger has ben announced as mid September-22., This news has created new enthusiasm in ccrypto maket & even other alts like Matic has gone almost 100% up during the past 2 weeks.I think Ethereum price might reach $2500 by mid September. Once Ethereum merger process is completed successfully, then we might see some correction in its price. DYOR

Perhaps by now we should now why is there a hype on ETH right? it's because of the merger, a move to POS model for their network. And then you have to ask yourself, do we think that it is enough news and hype to overtake BTC?

Yes, it's the second biggest crypto, but we can't just simply see a power shift just because they will have the biggest and important event in their history. I will admit that it should be the news of the year specially if it will become very successful, but it's not enough to dislodge BTC if that's what their proponents is trying to drive at.

It seems that it still takes time to beat Bitcoin, if we count then the Bitcoin marketcap is still 2x from ETH, but a good thing is this week the increase in ETH is more than 14% while Bitcoin is only 2%, if the trend like a week continues to repeat then I'm sure the end of 2022 the difference Marketcap with Bitcoin is no more than 10%.
maybe bitcoin could be altcoin in this mid bullish trend, it eth price could maintain its growth another altcoin will follow. Strong fundamental that released and eth fork be main trigger at this moment. Eth price currently maintain from dump although btc dumped.this year will be golden moment for eth.

It would be risky asset for institutional investors because it’s emission is unlimited and it can get out of demand very quickly. In fact it is more volatile than bitcoin and no institutional investor would risk their clients money at such high volatility.

On the other hand bitcoin makes up perfect investment asset due to its limited supply and ever increasing demand for the same.

I am pretty sure even if there decoupling, BTC stays the best target.

I think whole market depends on top coin or leader project which is bitcoin. Yes eth is a good contender for that but its a lot difference in terms of marketcap. With the upcoming changes on eth, we still unsure what would happened if the institutions are gonna put their trust on eth or pick another player replacement for that. Theres a lot of L1 rivaling eth on tecgnology, who knows which one will stanf out and tie on its position.
I do not think that it would be big enough to takeover bitcoin. I mean sure it looks like it is going to be big, and it will stay at second spot and it will be a strong project to invest your money into and none of that is a bad thing for it, I support buying ETH all the time and I have a lot of it my own.

However, that doesn't mean that ETH could take over, just because ETH will do nicely and well doesn't mean that it will do nearly 3x marketcap while bitcoin does absolutely nothing, it would be silly to imagine that as a possibility, we will end up with something that is much smaller in the scale, or at least movement that is parallel to what bitcoin does.

ETH deserves to be first. ETH has the most used utility of all cryptocurrency community of any altcoin. It's just that bitcoin is too historic to go down, but it doesn't matter we can claim that ethereum is ranked very high in terms of utility.
NO, Ethereum remains as an altcoin no matter how useful it was - Bitcoin is also very useful in other areas.
To be 2nd in rank is already enough to recognize ETH and serve its dominating power over altcoins while Bitcoin dominates the entire crypto market. But for me, it was not important who is the 1st or 2nd, what is important is that people know them, their purpose, and their potential. In fact, the majority had just considered them as an investment, not of any other consideration.

I like to know the parameters to access ethereum doing better than bitcoin. The record we can expect is eth having a value above 0.13 BTC. Maybe also the coinmarketcap of ethereum above bitcoin and perhaps in dominance. Bitcoin knows how to manipulate the price more than
People were not comparing it based on the price of ethereum against bitcoin but people are seeing it based on the marketcap. that means if you are aware if mostly of people take marketcap as a parameter to take a conclusion whether ethereum can surpass bitcoin or not. Yeah ethereum may impossible to surpass bitcoin in term of against bitcoin price not marketcap but when it comes to the market cap and it may possible.

Though Ethereum still depends from Bitcoin, ETH has considerable chances to become a maket leader. It may happen in case ETH transactions become cheaper, faster as well as the speed of ETH minting goes down after Ethereum difficulty bomb activation.

After activating POS, surely the gas fee and speed of ETH will be cheaper and faster, but what does that mean in helping it take over BTC?. You mean it will be more commonly used. No problem, ETH is still at the forefront of dapps development or do you mean about its supply.
All that is still not enough for it to surpass BTC, BTC is still the most widely used and accepted coin. BTC is still there and it's been 13 years no one has surpassed it and it still is.

Many tokens depends on the ethereum blockchain but it doesn't mean the whole altcoins, already BSC and others are here to become ethereum killers anyway still the market trend following bitcoin and it only manages to lose after every bull bear cycle so I don't think it will be changed in the near future.

The token that are depending on ETH is the token on their network.  Another token that is outside of the ETH network is not dependent on ETH.  I am not seeing ETH decoupling from BTC anytime soon.  ETH is still affected by the rise and fall of BTC prices.  I don't know where you get the idea that ETH is decoupling from BTC.

I like to know the parameters to access ethereum doing better than bitcoin. The record we can expect is eth having a value above 0.13 BTC. Maybe also the coinmarketcap of ethereum above bitcoin and perhaps in dominance. Bitcoin knows how to manipulate the price more than
They just look at the price trend since ETH is moving high while Bitcoin dump, they are moving in different directions quite sometimes. But honestly, this is not how we measure it. Perhaps, we don't need to compare them as they are not competing with each other as they don't have the same network. The idea of saying ETH could take over will not really exist as we know that this never happens, maybe IF Bitcoin will die and only ETH will remain.

Are you sure it is moving that way?  As far as I know ETH started to recover after BTC got its relief rally.

Second to Bitcoin, but in the altcoin market Ethereum is the king of them. The target let's say in the current hype is $2k, but it doesn't mean that it can overtake Bitcoin. ...

In order for the capitalization of Ethereum to surpass the capitalization of bitcoin, it is necessary that the price of ETH increase by 2 times, but at the same time the value of BTC remains the same. No one doubts that the price of Ethereum will increase by 2 times, but it is impossible to imagine that the price of BTC will remain the same.

The possibility of this happening is almost impossible. Most likely, the ETH merger will help ETH soar, and if the spike is strong enough, it will help ETH x2 but if bitcoin remains the same then I think the upside will soon be stopped and corrected shortly after.

In the absence of a rise in bitcoin, the market has no reason to FOMO and build investor confidence. Bitcoin is still king, we are still looking at the movement of bitcoin for investment so it will be difficult for ETH if it wants to go it alone or wants to take over BTC.

Agreed, ETH need to go against the current trend and instead score its own rally so that it could ever surpass the valuation of btc otherwise it would never surpass bitcoin and this could only becomes real if the investments flow from the institutional and investments companies are flowing in ETH instead. btc has always been the first choice for investments so far and if ETH could ever take over that, then it could easily surpass the valuation of btc in the future.

I think for now ethereum still dominates the price of bitcoin, and this will continue to happen in the future and the chart that is happening at the moment remains still the same movement that occurs and bitcoin is always moving faster and ethereum and other altcoins always follow the flow of bitcoin, to take over from The movement of bitcoin is certainly very difficult to happen because whales always rely on bitcoin in changing market movements.
For some point, the assumptions seem right seeing ETH is up a little bit while Bitcoin is declining. But, we can't just think this becomes a forever scenario, yet it is likely to change someday once the bear season comes. The merge is unbelievable making a good trend for ETH, which creates some hypes and we can't deny from that but this is not the only thing to consider on why we can say ETH could take over Bitcoin, several things we need to see - price, long-term incline, demand.

Yes now everywhere Ethereum is trending and it's look like that many institution will adopt Ethereum like BTC but it's will he very hard to overthrow BTC . No one now that this Merge will prove positive or Negative for Ethereum. We will see Massive buy and sell. I believe the price will go up massively, especially in the long term. I think the price can go up quite a bit more in the short term as well, but it’s hard to takeover BTC.
Yes, maybe because it is a trend, and both cryptocurrencies have their respective interests with unique features, bitcoin is known as a store of value and is also very rare.
whereas ethereum is famous for its unique blockchain features, hundreds of smart contracts, dapps, tokens run on the ethereum blockchain, which makes ethereum unique. And no doubt its value will increase over time, but that doesn't mean ethereum can overtake bitcoin.

You mean ETH could flip Bitcoin? Yes it is possible, but it could take many years for that to happen though ETH making good progress this year because of their Merge thing and with that it started a good rally today. Still bitcoin is the King but putting away the competition aside, crypto truly has a great future ahead for us.

For now we think this is impossible, but if one day happens then this is better so that people will not only focus on thinking about bitcoin, besides that the developer will continue to be excited because it will think that the opportunity to become the next king is very likely to occur.

Yes, the flippening is real. ETH going to overtake BTC in marketcap. Come on, it's too soon for ETH to x2 its total marketcap (220 billion vs BTC 450 billion) and took over the no.1 spot of BTC. Sure the hype over ETH PoS is very strong but very unpredictable to say ETH could x2 its marketcap and flip BTC just like that.

The last 10 days the performance of ETH is very good, and has increased significantly, even the percentage increase reaches more than 2x compared to Bitcoin, now the price is approaching $ 1900, if positive performance continues to last at least a month then the marketcap is the same as Bitcoin, it is interesting if the ETH beats Bitcoin .
ETH movements are good for now compared to BTC movements. But indeed, the price of ETH hasn't broken through $2k yet but I think it will happen in the future. Maybe this is because of the upgrade of the ETH network which can give investors optimism to invest in ETH. The price of ETH in the market is still good to buy and we can buy it immediately or I suggest waiting for a while after there is a correction. If a correction can come, it's a good moment to buy it and I hope you don't miss it.

But be careful because if BTC gets a correction, this could affect the price of ETH, so always analyze BTC movements instead of ETH movements.

Well, it seems that many people love ethereum over bitcoin so much that they are looking forward to Merging event that will help ethereum overtake bitcoin. Let's say your expectation is that ethereum will increase continuously for a month which means ETH price will reach $3k8 at current price and also provided bitcoin stays where it is then ETH has a chance. This sounds like a myth since ETH will rise and bitcoin will stand still. I think the merge will definitely create a FOMO and take the ETH price high but it will correct soon. So don't expect too much for ETH to take over BTC and forget about the risk it brings, a lot of people become liquidity pools in the merge.

The fact that Ethereum came in second on the ranking of coins does not necessarily mean that it will outperform bitcoin in the future. They function differently, and bitcoin determines how Ethereum moves along its chart. Ethereum is once again increasing quickly, but it is still tied to Bitcoin. Similar to how they depend on bitcoin, many alternative cryptocurrencies are depending on Ethereum. Although the Ethereum network is excellent and has a sizable market cap, it cannot compete with bitcoin or have the same widespread impact as other cryptocurrencies.

We should understand that they are very different in terms of the support and it's better not to compare them or think that Etthereum will someday become number 1 because it's highly unlikely. So just enjoy the rise, if you have made money already, that's not bad. Let this hype settle down a bit though and see where the price is going to be. $1800-$2k is not that bad.

Goerli one of the largest and most active Ethereum test networks underwent the “Merge” on Wednesday evening. Most likely, Ethereum will continue some growth until September 19, 2022, but this is just the result of the hype surrounding this event. After switching to POS, the price is likely to correct.

For me, this is expected. Especially if you take a look at all-time-high of the both Bitcoin and Ethereum, Ethereum dumped too much from its all-time-high compared to the all-time-high of Bitcoin. So expecting that the ROI for Ethereum from its all-time-high is high for Ethereum compared to Bitcoin, just my 2 cents.

ETH is not the kind of crypto that benchmarks the rise and fall of all Altcoins, ETH can't take over like Bitcoin, that's the ETH network he created like opposite coins like ETHHEGDE, ETHDOW, ETHUP and many others, because they believe they can't influence all crypto prices, in terms of influence I don't think they can compete with Bitcoin, about the highest price of Bitcoin a lot.

I personally believe anything can happen in the crypto market, but for now it's still not strong enough in my opinion that ETH can take over the market, although there is now an update on POS.
Bitcoin is still a solid leader in its place.
so far ETH market capitalization is already big enough that it could quite literally take over btc in the future bullrun if it could somehow increase its market capitalization better than btc and that's true there's a big chance for ETH.
Regardless though we should also take into calculation the other similar coin like BNB that could eats ETH market capitalization if it has massive rally somehow moreover btc usually increase its dominance at every rally.
there is definitely chance for ETH though it's uncertain considering market capitalization always fluctuates.

How?, check on CMC, the capitalization of bitcoin is twice the capitalization of ethereum. You might think that ethereum will rise and grow and bitcoin will stand still for eth to take its place. While bitcoin is still dominating the entire market, I don't believe a single coin will perform well if bitcoin drops in price. The merge event will make a strong rally for ETH but will it last if bitcoin goes against it?

what do you mean by ETH decoupling from BTC ?
what i see is they have different networks and ethereum will still be the 2nd best coin after bitcoin.

If this happens and Ethereum becomes a better target for institutional then it is finished
indeed at this time ethereum is the best choice for long-term investment after bitcoin. for me there is nothing better than bitcoin and ethereum will never replace bitcoin

many altcoins depends on Ethereum but the whole market depends on BTC, what do you think will happen
that's right. because some altcoins stand on the ethereum network so almost all altcoins depend on the price of ethereum. because ethereum is the boss of altcoins and ETH will depend on bitcoin. because bitcoin is the boss of all coins

What does it mean by "it's finished"? Look carefully at the market it's the same thing. Ethereum may have been increasing at its own phase like what you are saying but that's because of the trend that is happening which is the merge. But, next to it is also Bitcoin pulling up which provides the image that Ethereum does it all.
It's not different from altcoins that pump whenever they are discussed a lot of times on social media. Same scenario.

August ETH looks very promising, early august when I bought ETH the price was around $1700 and the current price is around $1880, I hope ETH will return to the level of $2500 soon and this year can reach at least $3000. if ETH goes up, the ERC20 token will automatically go up, and this is what I'm really waiting for.

And yet you didn't put argument that ETH could take over BTC because this is what the OP is trying to say?

Majority knows that it will take a lot of money to go into the ETH market, and it's going to be very hard for now. So I would say that there is no way, or impossible for ETH to simply overtake the dominance of BTC. It's better for ET to just remain the top altcoin and we should leave it like that and abstain from thinking it will happen unless we are really very close to it. Right now it's not even 50% happening, in my opinion.
Yes, it is easy to speculate, but if you don't believe in it, it is difficult to get to the goal. It is easy to be happy when they bring profits, but the opposite is the same. With what has been happening with ETH over the years, we have seen very positive changes, and I think there is a high chance that in the future, its position will still be consolidated and generate great buzz. I also just saw the announcement of the POS testnet from ETH, one of the positive moves in its own right, and indeed, I have absolute confidence in it, second only to BTC in this market..

"IF" means it is unlikely possible. Actually, I don't see any instances that ETH will surpass Bitcoin. Perhaps you are right that the entire market is depending on Bitcoin which means that ETH still follows Bitcoin. Clearly, we have to understand that Bitcoin still dominating the crypto market, despite seeing that ETH pumps but never means that it already had passed Bitcoin for this is not going to happen for long, it changes eventually after a few days or just hours.

You aren't the only one seeing this mate, as a matter of fact quite a lot of people saw the same thing years ago, they called it " The Bitcoin killer", what they saw and said then was that in a few years Eth will be better than Bitcoin in every respect, a few years came and went, but still there was no sign of their prediction coming into fruition; what you are seeing is very common, the only thing is that it can never come to fruition.
this is true, for eth that was being called btc killer it really hasn't come into fruition ever since really long, even with the migration and the massive trends like NFTs recently it still couldn't over take btc moreover btc instead increasing its dominance in every bullrun.
I'm sure once the bullrun comes again market capitalization of btc will increase again.

It's too difficult for Ethereum to beat Bitcoin, because whatever Ethereum has done it always fails to end Bitcoin's dominance. In the end,
Ethereum had to settle for always being second, because it was impossible to beat Bitcoin. After all Bitcoin was the first crypto coin and
has a very high popularity, so Bitcoin will always be the choice of many investors. What you say is true, when the bull market comes
the market capitalization of Bitcoin will increase even more, we can learn from the history of Bitcoin movement. Therefore we buy Bitcoin
at any price can make a profit, because Bitcoin is indeed the best crypto coin and too difficult to replace.

You have to give us data and chart, not your speculation, its market dominance is growing or going up and there will be changes on Ethereum coming but at this point its still speculation until we've seen them in full POS and they fix their price we'll see if they are decoupling from BTC and can stand on their own, the market still depends on the strength of Bitcoin and will continue to be so, but we'll never know in the future if one coin/token can do that its Ethereum.

But I don't think this hype about ETH if are different from the past, it seems like just the same as it is because they just want to try to pump the market back even though it's clearly a bear market so that they could gather more investors.

It's the people's job to do their own research if they want to risk something since it is how risky it is when you join the crypto market.

I don’t see it happening at the moment. Though ethereum is set to create better improvements for its own network, but that won’t guarantee that it can already overtake bitcoin’s domination. Bitcoin will always be the future of the market. If ethereum becomes a good choice for institutional investments, that won’t change the fact that bitcoin still remains the most favorite and most profitable asset in the crypto market.

It is believed that Bitcoin has a Max supply of 21,000,000 while according to the recent article I read (https://www.gfinityesports.com/cryptocurrency/does-ethereum-have-a-cap-max-cap-total-supply-future-limits-eip-1559-bitcoin-ether/) Ethereum has 119.58 Million in circulation as at July 2022. I don't believe Ethereum can compete with Bitcoin. It's true that many Altcoins depends on Ethereum. The issue of gas fee in the past months on the Ethereum network made some Altcoins projects bridge to other network, Ethereum has hold lot of altcoins since it's development in 2015. I believe is going to be chose over other network but Ethereum is no match for Bitcoin.

Ethereum lovers have argued for a long time that ethereum will one day replace bitcoin at the top so in a way what you are thinking is not really that surprising, however I do not believe such a thing is ever going to happen, ethereum is a good coin but it simply does not have what it is necessary to surpass bitcoin at all, this market was created by Satoshi and the first mover advantage bitcoin has over all other projects is not something which can be overcome that easily, so I would suggest you drop your expectations as otherwise you will be severely disappointed when this does not happen in the future.

I have not seen the "decoupling" just yet. We cannot compare these two anyway. If there were no rankings in CMC, people might stop doing comparison between the two in terms of anything (e.g price, market cap, etc.)
I had seen these similar discussion already since 2017, so maybe I already found out my answer from that 5 years, lol.

Not quite, Ethereum is not separated from Bitcoin as is the case with all other coins, the dominance of Bitcoin is what controls the crypto market, but it often happens that the movement of Ethereum is the leader of the movement of Altcoin in general, when Ethereum starts moving, Altcoin follows, so You might think there could be a break with Bitcoin but that's wrong.

I actually don't see the same thing. Bitcoin will always dominate the market and it will be hard for Ethereum to take over the lead. There's a huge gap on the value of the two coins. It's been actually years that others have been saying that Ethereum could replace Bitcoin but it didn't happen. Bitcoin will always be on top simply because it's the most trusted coin of all time. Ethereum could follow Bitcoin's path yet it will take time for it to reach the same achievements that Bitcoin had.

Recent info about Ethereum has brought up many questions and worries among many people and it’s obvious for the questions.
But as already said before, ETH cannot takedown BTC, no matter what the situation becomes. But not possible in the next 10 years. I mean I am not saying this from thin air, the numbers does. Comparing BTC and ETH’s marketcap we can easily see that ETH has to cover a long distance in order to take over.
Also the recent charts shows that how ETH still follows the path of Bitcoins. So it’s clearly impossible to take over.

If this is true then why did Ethereum loses its value today? Decouple my 👣, Ethereum is now down to 1600+ per coin and you are saying Ethereum is capable of decoupling? BTC is still the king and Ethereum can't do shit on its own.
Most likely, this can only happen if the capitalization of ethereum grows as a percentage of bitcoin. So far, nothing has changed in this regard. Now the capitalization of bitcoin is 40.4 percent, and ethereum is 19.5 percent. This has been the case in recent years as well. Therefore, I do not yet expect that ethereum will be price independent from bitcoin. Let's see how the end of the ethereum network upgrade will affect all these parameters, including price and capitalization. That's when we'll see.

I don't know where did you see this ETH decoupling BTC, but from what I saw on Coinmarketcap, the marketcap gap between BTC and ETH hasn't change significantly. I don't say that it's impossible for ETH to take over BTC, but it will not happened in near future, the Bitcoin adoption is far ahead ETH and ETH price is still depend on BTC price.

So sorry, but there wil be no decoupling that is going to happen with Bitcoin and Ethereum. All the altcoin are moving in synch with Bitcoin, there is no question about it. As to why, the very obvious answer is crypto trading is based on the price of BTC.

Of course, Ethereum is an independent asset, has it's own supporter from this community, they still have to follow the king of cryptocurrency whether they like it or not. Maybe some pattern will show the Ethereum moves by it's own, but in the end, most of the time their relationships exist.

Nothing special happens in such scenarios. If Eth picks up pace then the entire market will start moving upwards including bitcoin. ethereum was never coupled to btc, they are seperate and they have their own market even if the trading pair exists. On what basis are you making this statement anyway?

Of course the altcoins would also go up but don't take it for granted that eth going up means every dead altcoin will be profiting. They may crash before you get the chance to sell.

If eth is getting institutional attention good for its holders. Don't think that has anything to do with it taking over or below.

I think ETH can still hold on and keep up with the movement of BTC and even ETH seems to be able to go up again.
And when the price of bitcoin rises again, ETH can follow BTC and increase as well as other coins.
But maybe, for now, the price of ETH has not been too high because the price of BTC has also not been able to rise high.
But for future price increases, there is still a possibility that the price of ETH will increase again and I think the price of ETH can exceed yesterday's high.
So if you want to buy ETH now, I think it still provides an opportunity to make big profits later.

Bitcoin was going back to the 23k and ethereum was also doing the same like going back again to the 1700. So what's the difference? i can't even see where was aspect that makes you think ethereum already decoupled bitcoin. it's not even happening right now.
Try to realize the fact if leaving from bitcoin is the most difficult thing that can be done by altcoin. Ethereum is different compared with binance that has active business that can always generate profit for its development and expansion.
Ethereum was a non profit organization. Bitcoin is still dominating everything now. It seems you are wrong.

The journey of Ethereum is as good as Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the king of Cryptocurrency, while Ethereum is the king of altcpins
Although there are so many new coins competing Ethereum, in fact, none can really defeat.
But if it is about defeating Bitcoin or changing the focus on Ethereum in the market, this may be probably. But, Bitcoin will still become the major factor of tje crypto market, with its up and down will really influence the market condition. Altcoins will still depend on Bitcoin. So doea the Ethereum.

their charts looks the same and the trend are still following btcs in general so i'm sure that even in the future they're still gonna follow btc trend.
moreover the big institutional investments flowing in btc instead of these coins like eth and bnb, until this days the big fund management companies are still prioritizing investing in btc than the other like eth and bnb because they think btc is definitely good choice than the others meaning that these coins will hardly take over the capitalization of btc in the future.

For ranking top 2 on the list it doesn't mean that it will decoupling bitcoin since at this point many people still trust bitcoin and if you talk about crypto bitcoin first will be in minds of all people. So may be Ethereum will struggle or find hard ways to over power bitcoin because if this coin dump all of the coins including ethereum will dump to so we cannot see this one happening although Ethereum is best alternative next to bitcoin.

BTC will still be dominant, and even if ETH is the king of altcoins this is still not the basis of the trend because Bitcoin is still where most of the altcoins depends. ETH can’t take over the market though it follows the trend of Bitcoin about the recovery but I think its not enough, ETH needs to update as well so the investors will stay with this using their network, there’s a lot of problem with their network that needs to be fixed.

Am I the only one seeing that ETH is decoupling from BTC? If this happens and Ethereum becomes a better target for institutional then it is finished, many altcoins depends on Ethereum but the whole market depends on BTC, what do you think will happen
Ethereum will always follow bitcoin at the back, bitcoin is the king of the cryptocurrency space, no coin can take over bitcoin. Ethereum cannot decouple from bitcoin, no matter how great it become in future, all cryptocurrency will continue to do whatever bitcoin wants them to do, bitcoin dictates when the bull and bear season will be, no other altcoins can

Until whenever Ethereum will always follow Bitcoin, it is impossible for Ethereum to decoupling from Bitcoin, let alone to replace Bitcoin is
impossible to happen. Because after all Bitcoin is the first coin in the crypto market, so all altcoins will follow the movement of Bitcoin.
If we find altcoins that do not follow Bitcoin, it means that the altcoins are manipulating and even then the manipulation is only temporary.
No matter how many institutions start investing in Ethereum, Ethereum will not replace Bitcoin. In fact, not only Ethereum, many projects
have been created to replace Bitcoin, but they all ended in failure. Bitcoin to this day is still the best crypto and Bitcoin still dominates the market.
So don't expect too high Ethereum will replace Bitcoin, because it will never happen. As you said Bitcoin is the king of the crypto, so it will always
dominate the market and Bitcoin is irreplaceable.

Am I the only one seeing that ETH is decoupling from BTC? If this happens and Ethereum becomes a better target for institutional then it is finished, many altcoins depends on Ethereum but the whole market depends on BTC, what do you think will happen
Altcoins power of acceleration is dependable to Bitcoin acceleration. Because it's Bitcoin that possessed it power of moving round the corner of increment. From my definition of altcoins, it's seems like bitcoin subordinate indecencies that Bitcoin is the first in cryptocurrency that is been introduced and any other one's is following the full steps of cryptocurrency to gain its propagation. So in summary Ethereum is under the class of altcoins and theirs no time it so well than Bitcoin

Even if Ethereum turn 20,000$ per one its bullish momentum will still depend entirely on Bitcoin, it's that simple, we need to stop thinking that a coin can replace Bitcoin or a new smart contract can replace Ethereum, it's never going to happen.

No, I've seen some that said it before.

If this happens and Ethereum becomes a better target for institutional then it is finished, many altcoins depends on Ethereum but the whole market depends on BTC, what do you think will happen
Nothing.
Bitcoin will remain as the top and stop all of these thinking that bitcoin will be replaced even by ETH. They're conquering both markets and that's already enough to look at.
People always intend to think about switching bitcoin over the past years and it's not yet stopping. I don't know what makes you think that it will. I'm holder of both but understands the dominance of bitcoin.

Decoupling or separating? But the two don't have a special relationship. It's just btc is known to control every crypto, that's it. Maybe you mean is the price of eth is slowly increasing, leaving btc behind? Well that's fine and we are happy for it. I think this because of the upcoming updates on eth. Btc can still catch up soon and it can leave eth behind once bull run returns.

On this part, im not sure if you mean they will invest on eth and prioritize it over btc or you mean they will put restrictions over btc? But either of the two, it is still fine. Like I said earlier. Btc can still catch up no matter what and if ever they put restrictions with eth, we stil have a btc. Also I don't think the restrictions will be permanent, same with that they did with btc before.

You came to this conclusion base on this few days eth performance! Don't get your hopes up just yet, I think this little spike was as a result of the eth merger news, overall price performance will still depend on btc a lot. Perhaps there is a possibility it will change in the future but for now i doubt that.

This is a dream that will remain a dream forever because nothing can decouple from BTC in this crypto market, BTC movement will forever affect every other crypto projects and that's the way it should be, Ethereum can added more value after the merge but do not expect the project to be like BTC on it's own.

I think there's a kind of awe and respect with which altcoins hodl Bitcoin. For that, I don't know if that which you're speculating will ever happen because for a very long time ETH has shown itself useful as a smart contract with massive utility, yet its price hasn't measured up to what benefits it presents to the crypto industry. Sadly, there are new projects coming out with their own blockchain and smart contracts and that's beginning to split the strength of Ethereum through competitiveness. If we go by what utilities Eth has for this industry, its price ought to be as high as what Bitcoin is now or even higher than that.

Ethereum merger is a mega event that can potentially take it to new highs because is likely to  attract huge institutional investment and this is the reason it is leading the market and surprisingly Bitcoin is following its trend. The news of further increase of interest rate by 75 basis has caused selling in stocks and crypto market which I hope will be absorbed soon & market will resume its upward journey.

I don't see ETH taking over bitcoin, ever! Bitcoin is a true pioneer of the crypto market and the current market dynamics is very much dependent on bitcoin itself. ETH has a long way to go and with its ongoing transaction fees, ETH can never become a market leader.

We may start seeing some institutional interest on ETH once it moves to POS algorithm which may increase its price. But when comes to driving the market, ETH is still too small!

If this is true then why did Ethereum loses its value today? Decouple my 👣, Ethereum is now down to 1600+ per coin and you are saying Ethereum is capable of decoupling? BTC is still the king and Ethereum can't do shit on its own.

Some uncertainty still ruling the market which is still bearish, don't forget about it. Nobody cancelled price fluctuations.

Though Ethereum still depends from Bitcoin, ETH has considerable chances to become a maket leader. It may happen in case ETH transactions become cheaper, faster as well as the speed of ETH minting goes down after Ethereum difficulty bomb activation.

I seriously doubt that we will see ETH decoupling from BTC, perhaps just on few occasions that you may have seen right now. But the whole altcoin will still rely on the price of BTC no matter what as obviously trading is based on BTC price.

The recent news on ethereum has been bringing various sentiments and people are taking it too emotional. We all know that ethereum is a great project and has an excellent usecase, but that doesn't make it any better than bitcoin. The information we have now is still unclear and several persons are taking advantage of the situation to spread unfathomable rumors. Let's be guided as we look forward to what ethereum has for the industry.

Perhaps this is the case, but it's going to be short term though. Maybe there are news about ETH protocol change. Yes, it's a big chance, however, I'm seeing ETH taking over, BTC will continue to remain on top. Back in 2017, (for those who have been here already), there is this so called "Flippening",  when BTC was about $1k-$3k price and ETH was about to break the $1k barrier. But in didn't happen as BTC remain the dominate coin.

By the caps, it impossible to see ETH taking over. ETH has its own market, all the ERC tokens are paired with ETH in the market. It doesn't even need to decouple, it already have its own  market.

I have read it many times that institutions will come to ETH because they merge to POS but so will many institutions go for BTC. BTC is just more secure than  POS network.

Well it's not easy to decoupling the ETH from BTC. As we see the chart ETH mostly following BTC. Now BTC is at 23k and ETH is at 1693. Both trying to recovering but not in comfort zone till now. Today both coin make red candle that showing the dependency on each other.

Coin circulation of ETH is much more than BTC. But from it's not better for ETH to decouple from BTC.

How did you come up with that? Do you have some links for reading materials so we might as well be enlightened just like you.
I mean, because I doubt that will happen. Just because it will change to POS doesn't necessarily mean it will not be affected by the Bitcoin price.
We have many POS in the market, remember that and they are not as dominant as Bitcoin nor Ethereum.
I want to see the logic behind this claim but if it does happen then I would be also joyful about it since I have been an Ethereum fan for ages.

Many tokens depends on the ethereum blockchain but it doesn't mean the whole altcoins, already BSC and others are here to become ethereum killers anyway still the market trend following bitcoin and it only manages to lose after every bull bear cycle so I don't think it will be changed in the near future.

Yes you're. I didn't even see ethereum was starting to leave from bitcoin's domination. You must also aware if the chart is looks very similar between one to the each other. Decoupling bitcoin was not easy. I think that you are judging it too early. You shall take a look at the chart between both again. Ethereum was still following bitcoin anytime. There's no reason for it to decouple from bitcoin. At least not for this time but anything can happen in the future.
