Following the launch of my new game Crypted RPS, the website for all my games has been improved.

I also decided to remove the 1ETH mode for matching ethers since it was far less active than the finney mode.

the finney mode seems to be doing really well with the current parameters and in 7 players we will be at 200.
Well done guys Smiley

Best gambling DAPP atm imo.

Randomness is not perfect and could be manipulated but the mechanics of the game seem to be sound enough to counter this

Yep I had to delete the DAO contract from my mist, It was freezing too much Smiley

I updated the settings for both games, rounds are on average of 8 participants. It's more balanced this way.

Also if you are the last in a round, don't hesitate to play again and start a new one so you are the one throwing the dice to resolve the previous one and may be lucky Smiley !

Regarding the gas problem some people have when they strat a new round, I have noticed that the latest version of mist (0.72) seems to calculate the cost correctly and works everytime, at least for me.

Dustbluster are your using the last one ?

That makes sense. Good to know  Cheesy

I haven't updated to the latest release yet because I saw reports that it sometimes hangs due to it's new event log getting overwhelmed by activity on The DAO.  I expect there'll be a patch for that soon and I'll update then.

Yes you are right, I'm trying to understand this.
Sometimes the transaction that should resolve the round is refused for "not enough gas". What's strange is that when it is retried, the next transaction succeeds with a lower fee overall.

ex :

success :

failure

Notice how the succeded one cost less fees in the end !

Anyways it's not a problem and all is working properly.

It seems the game really took off since yesterday, thanks to all the players.

We have a total of 15 rounds ended in the finney mode (with more than 135 players)
The ether mode is seeing some success too Smiley

I noticed that Mist (Ethereum Wallet) doesn't always calculate the gas requirement correctly when starting a new round (Etherscan shows the failed transaction and no ETH gets lost).  Getting it to work requires increasing the gas limit when sending the transaction.  I increase it by a LOT to be sure it goes through and because the excess will get returned anyway.

Wow it's active tonight on the game Smiley

Yes indeed ! We reached 100 player !
Thanks to the pioneers supporting this game : Shinysquirrels, RacheBartmoss, Jessie, and the other anonymous players Smiley

I'm "ShinySquirrels".  It looks like out of 10 plays I'm down by about 0.2 ETH.  I'll keep playing, the break-even point is pretty fair, and it's fun Smiley

Great job on the website for this; that interface is stellar.  And the game itself is quite intriguing.  Cheesy

Happy you like the website, I had fun doing it Smiley

Regarding the game, I think things are better now with the smaller rounds, we have already 4 players in the new round of finney mode Smiley

Given the preliminary results of the pool, I have decided to try smaller rounds from now on.

A round just finished on the finney mode, winners have been paid, so I took the opportunity to change the settings for the next round.

Now both modes have an average round size of 8 players !
Also the fees have been haveld on the finney mode.
It's now only 0.25% information cost.

Have fun and let me know what you think about the changes Smiley

I have started a pool on the forum to know what you think about the settings of the game, please give me your feedback there or here.

Given the first few results, I decided to refund the current round and lower the size of the rounds for the 1ETH game mode.
The round of the 1 ETH game mode are now from 6 to 10 players, so it will be much quicker.

The finney mode remains unchanged for now and the second round is almost over !
It may end in 2 players min or 6 max !

The website was down for a small upgrade tonight.

It's back up and running.

You can now check your player history.

Regarding the game, we still need more players for things to be really interesting.

Do you want me to lower the round size so it goes faster ?
currently the round size is between 16 and 20 players.

we could make it 8 to 12 for instance.

What do you think ?

Hello folks,

Let me introduce a new Ethereum game, I just launched with a full real-time website :

MATCHING ETHERS
www.matching-ethers.com

Ether Game Mode : (play for 1 ETH)
http://etherscan.io/address/0x31e13882c45c1023d9b16c3794c1a780bb6cb88d

Finney Game Mode : (play for 0.1 ETH)
http://etherscan.io/address/0x2c2e3baa2191cf325a28a01ff42340f2ae677572

It's a strategy and luck based game derived from the old (game-theory) classic Matching Pennies.
There are 2 game modes, each with its own contract, you can play for 0.1 ETH and for 1ETH.

To play Matching Ethers, when you send your bet, you also have to choose if you want your coin to be upside or flipped.

The game is round based (average size of 18 for now), and depending on when you enter the round, you will be assigned  to one of 2 teams : the matchers and the contrarians.

At the (random) end of the round, each matcher will be (randomly) paired with a contrarian:
If both bets are on the same side, the matcher wins.
If the sides of the bets are different, the contrarian wins.

Now the thing is that the latter you enter the round the more information you have and have increased chance to win. To counter this, the game implements an information cost (deduced from winner payout) that increases with the order of entry in the round. First 2 players in round have 0% info cost, Player 3 and 4 will have a 0.5% info cost, Player 4 and 5 will have a 1% info cost ... This also serves as a small house fee (~1% on average) (to pay for domain/server/time).

You can play several times per round, so don't hesitate to try out some elaborate strategies !

How to play ?
Directly :
- send exactly the value of the bet to place it upside.
- or send (a bit) more to flip your coin ! (any excess is refunded immediatly)

Via mist :
Import the contract (using the ABI provided in the links below) and use the play function.

Please don't hesitate to give me your feedback on the game and possible improvements.
I have made the contract in a way that I can easily adjust the parameters after each round to improve the game experience depending on the community feedback. We can adjust the min and max size of the rounds, the value of the bet, the information cost ...

Have fun and Good Luck Smiley !

Ps: The website takes rougly 15 secs to load, it's on a low cost server (~0.5 ETH per month at actual price), I'll update the server if the game is successful Smiley
