Yes, 750W will be enough for 2 RX4780s

Yes it is a much better quality then CWT ones.. so go with seasonic x-750  Wink

but 750W unit could have problems running two 280x for the long run, you better get 1000W psu if you plan on adding another card..

Ah brilliant, thank you for your help! Happy to hear that there isn't too many faults with my build as it stands.

I assume if I was to opt for 2 RX480's instead, I could still go with my current build alongside a 750W PSU?

Alright, for the PSU I have found this - Corsair Builder Series 750W CS750M ATX/EPS Semi-Modular 80 Plus Gold Power Supply Unit.

That is a CWT built unit, not the seasonic one..

Ah, unfortunately I have no clue when it comes to PSU's specifically. Another one was looking at was this - Seasonic X750 750W 80+ Gold Certified PSU Full Modular Jap Caps DBB Fan

Any better?

It's 750W as I am planning to add another card, most likely another 280x (I found some cheap ones). Would it be recommended that I make the jump to platinum?

Depending on the timing of this I may wait it out and get the RX480's.

well, i'm on the same mobo and i use lubuntu 14.04 on 8gb usb thumb drive with 4gb ram
using nano's with claymore's dual mining
to be honest i have headless boot problem but having only one rig, no prob hdmi plugged to monitor

good work

You install your ubuntu OS into your USB drive? How much ETH do you earn every day and how much equivalent to dollar? It is still profitable? Do you use also AMD GPU? what model?

thnx in advance...

my AMD GPU is r9 nano and i can suggest https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/r9-nano-modded-rom-1424132

for ETH profitability i would suggest http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency/

for the GPU's, well, yes RX 480 cards are just round the corner but will you be able to have it home quick with all the orders there will be?
I had the news of them the day after i ordered 3 nanos. It was a shock so i had to build a good reason into my head that i did well not to beat my head on the wall hard ;p

I started around the end of may with one r7 370 strix that i'm now going to sell. It had a good ratio hash/watt /$

Thanks for the help so far!

maybe you should wait for the new RX 480 cards, they are just around the corner..

and for PSU I would recommend any seasonic build PSU.. it doesnt have to be seasonic brand, it can be corsair or xfx.. just read the reviews before buying to see which actually is build by seasonic..

good luck with your venture..

Thanks! Am I right in understanding that a 600W PSU would suffice for this rig?

600w would be fine, if you are concerned with power usage I suggest you get 80+ Gold or better PSU

+1 Wait for the RX480 to come out... you're talking ~2 weeks time.

Alternatively pick up a used 380x or higher on ebay.

I have 4x r390s, 1x gtx 970, and 1x gtx980 on 3 seperate systems.

When the RX480 hits I'm either selling off my 390s or building a 4th syste with 4x RX480

Hi guys, I've decided to try out ETH mining for the fun of it, and after some research and looking around I've compiled a list of hardware I will purchase. I just wanted some opinions on improvements/changes to the build, without leaving the price range too much. (Apologies if this is the wrong sub-section for this topic!)

Any help is very much appreciated, thanks!

Here is my current to-buy list:

GPU - Sapphire AMD Radeon R9 280X DUAL-X OC 3GB Graphics Card
RAM - Ballistix Sport 8GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR3 1600 MT/s (PC3-12800) UDIMM 240-Pin Memory
SSD - Kingston Digital 120GB SSDNow V300 SATA 3 2.5 (7mm height)
Proc. -  Intel BX80646G3240 - Pentium Dual Core (G3240) 3.1GHz Processor 3MB L3 Cache 5GT/s Bus Speed
Mobo - ASRock H81 Pro BTC Motherboard (Intel H81, DDR3, S-ATA 600, ATX, PCI Express 2.0, USB 3.0, Socket 1150)

Any improvements? And what PSU would you guys recommend?

PS. Fairly new to building my own rigs, so there may even be some conflicting hardware!
