I am interested in some feedback how you guys see the ETH smartcontract hype and also other platforms offering similar services for new icos.

What are alternative ways to hold an ico without smartcontracts and participating in ETH & Co?

THX!
You must try to take a look on some project that not based in the smartcontract such as lisk and waves and that gives complete explanation. You can try to use the wallet just to receive the funding in the ethereum form.

Thx, I will take a look into the suggested projects!

it depends on what you want to do.

if you really want to develope something real then you can do it without using any of these platforms and even without using any ICO or any fundraising of any kinds (see bitcoin and litecoin for the most successful example).

but of course if you want to just make something and do the least amount of work, and if you want to copy paste as much as possible then using ETH is the way to go. there are a lot of them and you can just rename one and call it your own!
