Be specific

1. What miner did you use?
2. Which Pool were you trying to connect to?
3.What are your config settings?

I think you can still solo mine ETC profitably without having to join a pool. You can also mine chipcoin if you want.

It depends on your hashing power. If you have more than 1 GH/s and good internet connection, you can solo.

ETC mining is very profitable at the moment. But you have to sell it quick. The price is very volatile.

There are many DDoS on the ETC and ETH pools. Can anybody recommend a pool that has good protection?

www.ethteam.com
Stratum: etc.ethteam.com:8008

Small pool and Stratum Server runs on an other machine than Website.

I would mine ETH and use ethminer or ethpool. My personal favorites. (Run by the same guy)

Profitability with ETC sort of balanced out;
https://minergate.com/calculator/ethereum

And i've had numerous problems on the current ETC pools. (Share loss, underpaid, etcetc)

I mined ETC before. It was more profitable to mine at the time. But when you send the ETC to exchange, the price is lower.

Yeah exactly the pools take forever to payout AND personally i should of gotten like 50 ETC but got like 22. So the day ended short for two reasons.

https://etc.nanopool.org/   Green in colour

and

https://eth.nanopool.org/  Orange in colour

I used the https://etc.nanopool.org/, the ping time is just 35 ms, but I got 25% of rejection rate. Why is that?

I tried several ways to mine ether connected to pool but nothing worked out. Is there anyone exactly mining ether here?

1. get a eth address
2. download genoils ethminer-1.1.7
3. create a batchfile
     ethminer -F http://eth.coinpool.biz:6677// --farm-recheck 300 - G or -U

-F http://eth.coinpool.biz:6677/ < this is the pool address and port for getwork ETH mining
< is the eth address where the payouts are deposited
< to identify your Rig only needed when mining with more the 1 miner at same address, should be 1-5 signs(a-z,0-1 adn -_ allowed)
--farm-recheck < time before recontact pool
     -G for AMD GPUs
     -U for NVIDIA CUDA GPUs

Pool takes only 0.5 % miningfee, uncles and rewards are payed 100% to miners, payout every 2 hrs. minimum 0.5 Ether, TX-Fee paid by pool

i must try mining ethereum  Cheesy

Sure. I'm exactly mining ether here

All you need to find the way to connect to pool. But double check that everything is working out!

There are plenty of miners here. You can read many threads, especially the claymore and the genoil threads.

Yes im mining ether, not a straight forward process, best outline/tutorial i have found recently was on ethereumpool.co. I switched to them yesterday after WEI pool failed to make payments to me AVOID that pool at all costs. I followed the steps they stated on the site and i seem to be mining. Try it, you obv needs a GPU and the rest.
