why are there so few apps and so many tokens that nobody uses?

It is said for a reason : Money makes the world go around . There are few that are really interesting, but again nether of those projects need an extra token on ethereum network to be able to function as they are made. Devs of those projects run tokens as they are really easy to make with contracts on the ethereum network, so that they can take millions in their pockets and I just wonder who has huge money to dump on this tokens, we all can assume where will it end.
There are some great projects such as decentralized VPN that I came across few weeks back : https://mysterium.network/ , I am sure that there are other good projects that are worked on, will take time for them to get to the surface.
