The transition from POW to POS will make big changes in the market of ethereum. We used to experience a market pattern of bitcoin with ethereum in the previous days. People are expecting too much during the bearish market which is a non sense thing for now. I guess let's see the fact in the market. It was not moving anywhere. People are always care with the trend in the market rather than hype news like that. The hype for ethereum already gone. Merged gives nothing rather than a long term impact. It seems like that world economic has been starting to recover but crypto was going down like there's no bottom on it. Bitcoin has been triggering so many tokens to be dumped. This is the worst thing to bet in ethereum. Im sure that if you aware with the crypto cycle and a prediction like that was a baseless prediction.

I believe ETH will finally break free of Bitcoin influence in term of market price, but not so soon, and not because of this merge. Bitcoin has been leading too far in term of adoption, and if Ethereum want to totally free from Bitcoin Influence it will need the mass mainstream adoption, just like Bitcoin.

The upgrade of the ethereum blockchain to proof of stake has just been completed about 45 minutes ago and they confirm it has been successful with having it first block mined via this method just half an hour ago.Price has not gone up nor down.
So it looks like the merge was just a seamless transition for the next step in it's evolution to be what business use for their smart contracts.
Just as the developers had planned it to do all along and without any issues.

Why do people think its price could be so low, let's put an infinity stop limit for this alt season on ETH. Once it has passed the ATH it will have nothing to stop it, look at bitcoin and I believe that for the underlying altcoins in the market will do the same things as bitcoin. I'm not going to sell it for under $2000, keep this in mind and when it goes past $2000 remind me to see where the next price will be.

The next update needs a lot of phases to be completed and it's not easy to do that. People should wait at least a year or even more to see the implementation for the ethereum 2.0. I think that a lot of people understand about this dude.
The price of ethereum could increase anytime based on the update that will come soon. It's easy for ethereum to be doubled when the harcap supply will be determined.

I believe that this is just the beginning, people learned that if they want to invest into the future profits they have to invest today to reap the benefits of few years down the line, buying today to make a profit tomorrow doesn't exists that much, but if you buy now and wait 3 years you know you are going to make at least 5x profit, even with these high prices but they started around 1k price (some started even earlier than that).
So long story short we are talking about ethereum to be quite high, and not even 2x, but we are also considering that not to be today or tomorrow, it may take a lot of years, however it will happen. When everything is settled, having a long term profitable investment is what we should be looking for, not quick let's make money today type of thing, which is why I believe we should definitely look at ethereum a lot more closely.
So long story short we are talking about ethereum to be quite high, and not even 2x, but we are also considering that not to be today or tomorrow, it may take a lot of years, however it will happen. Ethereum didn't stop following Bitcoin's price just because it had one independent price movement, it's just that for now Bitcoin is staying on the same level, so we can't observe the price coupling of BTC and ETH. Personally, the only thing that bothers me is that after Ethereum actually broke through ATH, it rolled back (in contrast to Bitcoin, which flew up to $ 45,000). nope its not break ATH at this moment, you can see on coingecko the price ATH still in 2018 and not change.
however its make me disapointed, i though it will hit new ath in near future just be patience.

That's expected from the way of Ethereum because they are the ones who caused the other Altcoins to increase their price as well because of their current trend in the market Ethereum is now the most popular Altcoin to invest your money with and there will be a high tendency of its price to continue to rise until next month. So hold your horses' guys and continue to hodl your ETH. You never know but I have a feeling that it would cross the $5000 mark this 1st quarter of this year because of its current popularity to the investors unlike ripples, Ethereum has no controversy or whatsoever.

Although we have seen the effect on bitcoin's price as it has slow down the bull run and been trading sideways in the last 2 weeks. But then again, with the current rise comes the exorbitant transaction fee and now it's higher than bitcoin itself.

I am considering DCA some alt, ETH will lead the upcoming alt trend. In my opinion, the time to come we will see even stronger growth of ETH. If everything goes according to everyone's expectations, I think alt season is coming really. In addition to ETH, I have also noticed a lot of alt has also increased very quickly.
We still have to be careful in the influx growth of some altcoins, it can be possible a trap coz we are not sure if this really the signs of altcoins season or whales make some hypes again. I can remember what 2017 makes huge losses to many investors due to such a trend. ETH keeps moving high, reaching another ATH, I'll expect a continuous trend before we end this quarter, or might possible 2nd quarter is the altcoins season. Anyway, Bitcoin keeps on a high level, altcoins will follow. I hope this will be a sign of crypto bullish.

I think that in this wave of growth it is obvious to everyone that the entire market is moving with Bitcoin. Most people who are far from cryptocurrency have not heard anything other than Bitcoin. Someday the market will stop depending on it, but it won't be soon.

That's a really interesting news for ethereum hodlers, it was never in doubt, at least from my own point of view that ethereum will surpass it's ath, and set a new one, i don't know how high eth will appreciate this year, but it's doing so good to make me believe it'll set a pretty high new ath.Can it keep this up and will it finally be free of following the all mighty BTC price as it has since it's inception back in 2016?
