This happens because many of the people involved in cryptocurrencies, possibly the majority, are traders looking for a short-term profit. The benefits that mass adoption can bring are long-term and those who will benefit from them are the hodlers.

Ethereum Founder Believes Mass Adoption has Lasting Effect on Cryptocurrency than ETFs
Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum’s Founder believes that the mass adoption of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs should be given much emphasis because it has long-lasting effect on cryptocurrency.
In one of Vitalik recent tweets, he believes ETF approval would be good for pumping the price but ultimately mass adoption would be better than a price pump.
