Any more thoughts on ETH and the recent increase?

Etheric fang is a very potential of COINS, and now the price of the price at the beginning of 100 x, the development of Ethernet fang I think is worse than the currency, the application area of the coin has very important position, is the root cause of the eth more valuable I think now of ico, ico is eth the root cause of the rise in value.

This has me worried as well. I guess we are all hoping that people are just switching from BTC and going into ethereum , but I dont really see that. I am very skeptical about the price.

Not sure about that, Icos is not helping ethereum to reach the current rate but the interesting update about POS that brings the ethereum into the next level. As you can see about the fact that a lot of people are buying ethereum before that migrates into the proof of stake system and applied the staking method instead the mining.

Etherum is heading for $ 500. In December there will be a lot of ICO launches, which will help Etherum continue to increase prices until early 2018. Luckily, I bought Etherum two months ago.

Does anyone have a sense as to why ethereum is doing so well right now? I mean, there hasn't been any announcements that would warrant a sudden increase to ATH at this point.

I really like ethereum, but just unsure of the catalyst for the recent increase.

I am not sure Zcash was a token creating platform ,yes Neo is a good platform and it might flourish in the future and has more potential than investing in Ethereum in my opinion,i would always like to choose a coin with much lower valuation rather than investing when the price is high.

It's very commong when traders are immigrating to one from another. This is to make money as you said, and wherever the image is more positive, more bullish, traders are going there to make more money from it.

As the recent increase in ethereum means about a lot of people interested in the ethereum too. The people moving to the bitcoin right now, buy it will move again into the ethereum asap. It's not about those are prefer with bitcoin or ethereum. it's too generate the more money.

Seems pretty unreasonable to be $400+ imo, I think we will still see a correction. When all of these ICO's crash that were funded in the summer, we will see a bad storm for a little period of time.

It has been at 0.14 BTC during the June bull run.
ETH has 5.74x the supply of BTC.
0.07 BTC / ETH would mean the ETH market cap would be at 40% of BTC, which sounds reasonable to me.


The reason for its slow but steady rise is, that it's merely immune to pumps and dumps due to its sheer volume. People call it stability.

I dont think this one is going to the moon, there are better ones out there like Zcash and Neo. I see growth here yes and wide adoption yes. But the moon.... keep dreaming people

Precisely, by definition, if you have a coin that is at any price, then there is always room to grow. ETH has come close to this point before, and I think it weathered the tragedy of 2016 well, as well as the uncertainty of this recent forking. Maybe it was never as dangerous in terms of splitting up the communities like the scaling wars of Bitcoin, but it will always be the number 2 (and don't remind us of Bitcoin Cash, please, it just had an unfair start!).

I won't expect this to moon, and everyone who knows me knows I don't really like ETH, but can't deny what it's become and what it may become.

I think we will see a small correction of like 10-15%, then the target for end of the year may be in the range of 0.07 BTC, which would be close to $600 at the current BTC price. And that's a pessimistic estimate.

That remains speculation, I think Ethereum price will depend on developments and new adoption, until then, collecting additional ETH will not hurt.

If the ETH price rises 500% in 2018, that is already very good.

I'm sorry Nevzat but we passed the beginning long time ago. Maybe you were not here but Ethereum price was less than $10 just earlier this year.
I believe 2018 is a candidate to be Ethereum year, I agree. I wouldn't set my hopes too high (3x, 4x) though.

Looks like there is a whole bunch of Korean money being pumped into it right now, now that the bull has taken off it may be hard to stop it.
There will be thousands who have been watching Eth go sideways for months that will be buying up.

If there is any coin presently that can give BTC fight for its money the coin is Ethereum, no other coin has suffered the level of FUD it has suffered and can withstand that second position this long

I also wonder the casper thing, how are the details about ethereum pos? How many ethereum needed at least to set up a node to get stakes... We'll witness a sharp price rally from ethereum.

I was also having this expectation few months ago and thought that ETH will be near 4 figure mark in price . But we saw what is happening with ETH. BTC is jumping too quickly and ETH just sustaining itself at the near about same price and not rising with the pace of BTC. Just not sure for 2018 abut this coin for now.

ETH doesn't have room to grow? How can anybody know what the limits are in terms of value, in a new market in a world adoption phase we have nothing to compare this too. Ethereum has been the second largest coin for a very long time. Its been in accumulation for 4 months and TA looks very bullish. If you have been in cryptos for a few years you would know, that there is no limits on how high the price can go.

I dont think ethereum even aims to be a currency. I agree with the fact that we need to see more projects succeed which I think will start next year when we still the original ICO frenzy projects fail. People will then see their mistakes ( hopefully ) and start to move forward.





PART of 2018 will be the year of ethereum, you need to remember all of these projects that are receiving millions in funding that are shitcoin will start to run out of money and fail. When that happens, people are going to look around and feel as if they have been blindsided. We will see a fall out, and people will leave upset. However people will learn from there mistakes and new ICO standards will be created to help us move forward.

Why though? ETH really doesnt have room to grow until people get passed their burned money that they have invested in ICO's. These projects that people have invested in are going to fail, and it wont be a simple " ops I made a mistake". All hell will break lose, until people start to realize that traditional investing standards and practices should be considered. You cant invest in a coin without utility, and without a MVP.



It certainly will drop again, nothing will just continue a uptrend. What people forget is that WE NEED LOSERS. I want all of you in this thread to lose money. Why? Because if everyone made money there wouldnt be room for other too. We need people to invest poorly and lose money, so that the smarter investors can make money. If investing was guaranteed or safe, no one would be rich.

Definitely ETH is mooning. Looks like it has the attention it badly needed and investors and traders are pouring money on it. But I doubt its sustainable though, I'm sure when it reaches around $400 most will sell it off. I believed in those coins long ago that's why I'm happy when it reaches its ATH like 6 months ago however, it didn't regained after that. But today and last few days increased looks like it can it again, but then again, I felt that it will go and drop again. Its like btc, mental barriers hard to control and decision to sell is always there.

The price keep increasing recently, and its above 350$ actually, and its going up almost daily. Ethereum is the most used altcoin nowadays and its price will be a lot higher than present, because almost all the ICO devs and investors keep trading it, buying it and of course advertising it more.

This is only the beginning. It will gain more value with time. 2018 will be the year of ethereum. I’m expecting a 3x or even 4x at least.

There is a certain limitation when it comes to Ethereum and the important thing is that it cannot be considered as a currency and there are a ton of projects coming out with their platform,but i am yet to see some good projects using their platform in a long time,there are good ones coming but to see the price of Ethereum reach another level of valuation we need more tokens and more usage of ETH gas.

What makes you think it will go 3x-6x, or are you simply hoping it will so you can make a profit? I also find it worry some that crypto currency users are not happy with 20% returns in a year, and that is sickening.

I think Ethereum will hit 3x or 6x as what you said but maybe it will hit next year. I can speculate Ethereum will go to the moon soon. As this is still alive in the market and I hope we can earn profit.

What Vitalik is proposing for 2018 is actually very nice. Getting platforms that are bound to work should be the basis of the Ethereum blockchain. If that can be achieved, like I'll always say the moon would be behind ETH. Because everything seems to be in place for its optimal growth.

So you think that Ethereum is going to go up 3x to 6x in a single year? I’m not an expert in predicting anything but I think the chances of that happening are very low, ethereum grew a lot in this year but the market cap was a lot lower, now that the market cap is this huge we cannot expect the price to go up that much in such a short time amount of time.

The Ethereum community in my opinion is really strong, I see a lot and read a lot about people that are really passionate about it. When I first heard about bitcoin I wasn't completely sold on the idea, but when I found out about Ethereum it is all I can talk and think about. The people backing this coin are extremely strong and so I think we will see a up trend soon.

Yes, this may have contribute or somewhat pulling back some investors to pour cash on ETH. Many ICO are scams anyways and they are using ETH for their fund contributions. And when they run off with millions of ETH, they lost traction from the community. And there are numerous hacks involving ETH in the past. I know that this coins has really a good future and some of you guys have pointed out its strength, however when being used in a scam, people think twice in investing on it.

I do not think eth will rise in the coming time now it is dependent on the fluctuation of bitcoin. It was hard fork 4 times but the price of eth did not change much to go to mon to hard

Have read an article though why ETH might have issues rising in value long term.
It is because GAS/GWEI prices are tied up to ETH that the rise of value of tokens have some detrimental impact to the costs (making it rise).
This in turn depresses the value of ETH. With more token sales, the network prices should also go up which in turn will stagnate the value of ETH.

Though, I still believe that the dev team will take that into account in the next upgrades. 

I definitely see a lot of room for this coin to continue growing in value! I have no plan of getting rid of any of my ethereum in the near future! I plan on holding all of it long term and watching the values rise!

I'm quite sure ETH will flourish in 2018. It has a lot of advantages and a strong team behind it. I will HODL until ETH=BTC.

Currently ETH is on a downward trend. But, maybe 2018 ETH can go to the moon like ever happened before. ETH is altcoin that has many features than other altcoins. So, investing in it not a mistake.

Ehereum is the best investment and I can see the price will heading to the moon. The price is cheap for now and worth to invest. It is still existing these days so I sell when the price reach high.

If you guys want to earn ETH, try investing to some tokens that will give out dividends quarterly in ETH like TAAS. They recently distributed ETH to holders, the more Taas you got the more ETH you will receive of course. I heard ETBS is also doing this quarterly.

I think that with this growth of bitcoin, it is unlikely that ethereum will grow.

Not fudding against NEO here, but what actually makes it more sophisticated or better than ETH? From what I understand it just does the same thing but for the Chinese market, which has investment merit considering how big that market is, but I don't understand why NEO supporters act as if it can kill ETH. Once again, NEO seems like a good investment, but not an ethereum killer.

I know IOTA is getting smart contracts at some point and unlike all the other competitors actually brings fundamentally new technology to the table. Not saying IOTA will kill eth either, but assuming both projects are around in a few years it is one of the few cryptos that might have a chance to challenge the smart contract throne.

Ethereum is a utility coin, it should instead settle for a sweet spot price and stay within it for wide adoption.

its big competitor will also be mooning and might even soar higher than ETH. i'm an ETH believer since time, i still kept more than 50 ETH in my wallet just incase it will be as big as BTC. but also diversify my portfolio which is why investing to a more sophisticated project like NEO is something to consider.

I respect your opinion to this brother and like you I hold eth and btc since then and it always gives me a good profit. And we all want eth that soon it will follow the success of bitcoin but we can't deny the fact that eth will be just a shadow of bitcoin and never will replace bitcoin in its throne. Like you just compare a gold to silver, both precious but different in mineral content. Bitcoin is bitcoin and eth is eth. There's no way to compare and there's should be no competition wit these two.

Ethereum is surely going to the moon in the near future. ETH also gets many supports from even some wallets like Blockchain. People are also buying now ETH with a lot of values.

So i think we can expect a massive boos to 1k from ETH.

I'm not really surprised at the moment as ETH drop to less than 0.04 BTC as we speak. Bitcoin has just been too dominant in the past few days and bitcoin dominance has obviously recovered from all time lows to now 65% or so.

Nothing is guaranteed though, so don't expect htat to happen 100%. But imo right now would be a good buying point.

I think it's very interesting that it's not $ 500 now. It had a very good acceleration with the Byzantine version. If it was a normal period, it would be comfortable for $ 500.

ETH is a great project that I respect and I think that at the current time it is undervalued, so today is a great opportunity to buy it for cheap and get profits in the future but to think that ETH is going to surpass bitcoin is a mistake since bitcoin has an incredibly high price and I do not see an end to the bull market in fact I think things may accelerate for bitcoin, as more forks are coming, the lightning network is going to activate and there are rumors of derivative markets based on bitcoin appearing.

Thats right we need patient so the price of ethereum will increase. And to those people want to invest ethereum you can invest now. I hope the price of ethereum will increase the price more I hope it will become 1000 dollars next year so we can make more profit. Ethereum is one of potential coin in cryptocurrency and this coin for sure will become more successful.

Eteherum is one of the most possible coins to reach this level so just be patient and invest in it.

I am hoping to see $600ish in 1 year Which I think is reasonable in crypto currency.

And why the ETH developers should do that? The more coins that appears in their platform the more money it brings and the more valuable their ethereum becomes, it is as simple as that, also you cannot create a platform like ethereum and then think you are going to have a centralized control of which projects are going to appear in your platform, that is not the way things work.

Yes it will go way up, just give it time. Bitcoin also took its time going up and it was a pretty good year for ethereum. I think 1000-2000$ ethereum is pretty likely in the next year.

I think we will see it break away from bitcoin, once more erc20 tokens succeed. Which I think will happen in 1-2 years

I'm not sure if Ethereum might be able to keep up. Looking on the history of it's prices on the chart, Ethereum just go down whenever btc reach another all time high. I hope too that it will change in 2018 and  go back climbing back again to BTC.15 even next year that there's also a huge speculation that btc will reach more than $10k.

I think ETH has the potential to head to the moon, but I agree with OP. We are going to need to see actual use cases. Real products/services and real problems solved. Once that starts happening, then ETH will really move north!

I think this is the main issue with ETH, the number of scams involving ETH has gone up a lot and it makes sense since many projects are based on the ETH platform but lately things have gotten out of control, which is not surprising taking into account all the icos we have at the moment, but I think this is one of the biggest things that is holding back ETH at the moment, besides the price is already very high and it is going to be more difficult that the price goes any higher with bitcoin as strong as it is right now.

Yeah I totally agree, bitcoin will be around for a bit longer. We may see changes though in the distant future


There is also a ton of ethereum coins, I think in a few years the demand for a coin will go up significantly and then it will be worth more.

Good point, if world wide governments work hard to track Bitcoin transactions, tax them and make sure to know who is behind everything, all people who were holding Bitcoin for anonymity purpose may switch to other options. Bitcoin may lose its attractiveness which should benefit to altcoins, so obviously the first winner in such a scenario would be Ethereum.
Hope this does not happen but this is within the realms of possibilities.

i love ethereum have to say that. actually i am so angry with btc rigth now and even i dont get why ethereum is still depend on btc price. ethereum have so big potential still to grow up , i can't say when but eth =1000$ is not far away. maybe end of this year or next year and when  will grow up that would be so quick not in a month , will be so quick in 2-3 days .
there are 100s of alts and actually each one sell to us their dream , not their product. there will be product , im sure for that but not for all and now rigth now. if you look ethereum , there is a really working system. everyday people send ethereum or other alts in this platform, they buy or sell alts in this platform and there are still many many new ICOs based ethereum.
i  think not for short term but middle long term ethereum can reach 0.1 btc and that would be fair. you know, all Gods need a son !

I deeply regret a lot of new projects just to raise funds and enrich the developers only. Project stop on the road and no latest updates, this obviously adds to the garbage token. I think etherium developers should be clear who can use their platform, so not just anyone can make it.

Ethereum is a very decent crypto with strong and active team, outstanding tech and really wide usage. But currently it is affected by scammers in the same proportion as Bitcoin by speculators. Next trend is unclear yet, will their count reduce or just grow and that can change everything. On the other hand I think ETH is undervalued against BTC anyway, their caps should be comparable, so 3x grow looks reasonable and even can occur till the end of year.

My idea is like this; Ethereum is already priced good. And nowadays it is highest price periods for ethereum. When icos start to use other platforms and blockchains for their tokens ethereum will start to drop.

not sure about where its heading right now, for early adopters, ETH is already in the moon. but now the value just floating around so there is little reason for it to explode again.

I've never understood why the price of Ethereum should substantially go up. It's a utility coin, and on top of that used in many ICOs, so until POS or other forms of staking are introduced I wouldn't bet on it going up much.

I do not think so. Anonymity - this does not always mean fraud. The price of the etherium is lower, because it appeared much later than bitcoin and it is more difficult for it to take the first place.

ethereum is a coin that creating to scammers, Scammers easily create their own tokens to Profit from ICO or airdrops with smartcontract ethreum. Look in the market now, many tokens ethereum is a fraud.

Agreed, ETH price is always depend on the bitcoin price. If you look at the price of bitcoin right now, the price is so high and it makes the Ethereum price fall. Ethereum is a very good project of course, but the price is still and Ethereum is the most succesful altcoin so far.

Well this will sound i am hyping ethereum but I think coin will replace bitcoin as the top crypto currency maybe not in the near future but probably after 10-15 years of course this is just a speculation. I hold both and regardless which end on top at least i am sure that i will enjoy the ride.

Ethereum is another coin that is really interesting and totally has a lot of potential in the future to grow more and more.
Low transactions fees, fast confirmations (literally take less than a minute) and an ever growing smart contracts system.

I guess the only thing that is holding its price down at a certain range is the fact that miners sell their ether on a constant basis.

Which means that I assume Ethereum's price will be much much higher when it switches to proof of stake. Well it's when they decide to do it which is totally unknown until today.

I think ETH price is still very dependent on how BTC price moves and to be honest I believe they are kind of competitors. The reason why I see a good future for ETH is that governments are working more and more to control BTC, which has became centralized, while ETH remains decentralized.
If one day, BTC loses its initial attractive qualities (mainly the anonymity), I believe a lot of people could go for ETH instead, with an obvious effect on the price.
But don't forget Bitcoin is still the front runner and it is gonna last for a while I think. People investing into ETH should be very patient.
You also make a good point about ICOs funding, this can't last forever, a lot of money is made on "air" these days. I just hope this money would go to Bitcoin or Ether instead

I am thinking about ethereum in terms of its tokens, and not in terms of its scaling solutions, casper etc




In order for ethereum to really succeed more projects need to be created that actually have some sort of utility. Right now we can already see projects that look good conceptually and we can look into individual sectors and see the innovative thinking that is going on in regards to crypto currency. However these are just ideas, which is nice because it helps you see the direction in which cryptocurrency is going and it allows you to think about future sectors which could be affected by cryptocurrency. However if Ethereum is going to succeed we are going to need to see some projects actually work and be implemented. Vitalik Buterin says it perfectly in a talk “ This, basically, is tokens1.0”. In 2018-2019 we will likely see more useful projects, and projects that have had at least a year of development to actually work. Most of these projects don't actually have a MVP, so we will need to see a few of them try the technology that they are promising and have them fail. We haven't really had a taste of what will fail and what won't, which is why there are hundreds of different ICO’s tackling issues. Once some of these fund raising giants fail, we will start to see projects emerge with huge success. Most of the projects on the market right now, are just ideas and the technology is not feasible. So we will need to see them fail, and allow other coins to emerge fixing those problems. I think there are more interesting projects, that are not raising huge ICO funds. And the reason that I think they are interesting, is because they are reasonable. I also think there is a huge problem with the white paper models that are being produced, most of them don't even have a sustainable plan to keep the token or coin economically efficient. People have to want to utilize the coin, and hold the coin if it is too rise. Way too much artificial pumping is occurring which is hurting the cryptocurrency community, however I think we will see some of that change next year.
