Well technically, the goal of bitcloud is to provide apps, and it has a networking hardware angle, too (mesh nets).
Ethereum is more of a lego set to build smart contracts, which could in turn become the foundation for apps.
That said, with things like altchains, nexxus, bitmarket (the project not the site), etc I do expect to see a lot of similar projects coming up in the next few months, if not weeks.
