I don't get what they are trying to do.  If eth can only do 20 transactions per second wouldn't the devs want to speed it before they do anything else?  For the past two years POS has been right around the corner.  Doesn't seem much use being so slow.  But my block chain knowledge is limited so I'm talking out my ass.

They basically miss every deadline that they set. I was around the time when it launched. And basically POS was suppose to be live in Summer of 2016. Since there was only a few months to go, I decided not to invest in some AMD Fury/Nano GPUs. At the time they were the most energy efficient GPUs.

A year later the AMD RX series came out and I've upgraded some of my farm, not all because they were saying POS is less than a year away. And again, POS never came and the pricing for the RX series sky-rocketed because everybody started to mine.

So don't take their deadlines too seriously. POS is probably at least a year away or so. Maybe we might get Hybrid POS sooner but the full POS is probably 2 forks away from now.

Definitely agree on the deadlines, I would be surprised to see a seemless rollout q1 2019

Are you sure they are considering adding ProgPOW to the next fork in January 2019 or are they going to add it to the fork following which I think was called Serenity.

Basically with the failed testnet launch, I don't think they will have enough time to change the mining algo in about 2 months time, and let alone give time for testing.

The ETH devs really need to be more transparent and clear in the future about these issues.

I think they're thinking more feb/march & one of the devs stated with this delay they can put focus on potentially implementing progpow (whereas before obviously impossible)

However as you said, I think if / when even one thing goes wrong, they would push that aspect back to the next fork.

Not a very calculated group it seems, especially as of late and the recent fail on ropsten

Ethereum Miner & Parts on Amazon - http://geni.us/YETd7h

Ethereum mining has had millions of new hardware introduced to their network this year, and their Proof Of Work has rapidly changed with the induction of Ethereum ASIC miners. Today I review the current Ethereum price, current Ethereum mining profitability, rumors and confirmation of Ethereum FPGA miners, Innosilicon and Bitmain ASIC Ethereum miners, Ethereum dev. team delaying their hard fork and widely open acceptance of testing and potentially adding ProgPoW to the now delayed Constantinople ETH hard fork (now set for early 2019), and my overall summary of the Ethereum mining situation.

Should you mine Ethereum, is it profitable to mine Ethereum now or what about later this year or perhaps you're wondering what hardware is the most profitable for ETH mining? I review the top ASIC miners, touch an GPU mining ETH, and show some of my research on FPGA mining Ethereums Ethash PoW algorithm -- which is NOT FPGA resistant/proof.
