Obviously, I did not expect any coin not to jump up after the fork since that is usually the normal trend as we are experiencing it now. However, for how long they will keep staying up is what I am not sure of before the next upcoming fork. I guess we will just have to see how it all turns out. Right now, ETH is not really giving me that expected push that I want, but patience might just make it worthwhile.

It is truly difficult to know how fast it would jump. Even the fact that it has jumped a little is as a result of all the altcoins recovering, even though during all these time, it has been trying to fair pretty well. However, it doesn't seem to want to get past $320 - $340 at the moment and I really hope it does before the next fork.

i am sure that ethereum price will jump up but i don't know will it jump after the btc fork or before the fork but if i see in the bittrex, there is a sign for ethereum to get increase and there are many order in big amount in the order buy and sell and its waiting to be filled. so if we want to sell our ethereum, then we can wait or at least we can place our order sell so we don't missed the high price. ethereum itself have a good chance to increase back like before but of course it will depend on how much btc price and if the price is stable at one range price then ethereum can reach the high price.

In my opinion ethereum price can not jump too high in this year because it is alrady jump very high from january price. It will jump not after the bitcoin fork but after next ethereum upgrade in 2018.it will goes between $250-320 until the end of this year. And it is rally healthy growth.

I am surprise that after a little recovery of ethereum price, the day before yesterday the price has fall back bellow $290 today. I don't think that ethereum is going to rise in price This time around as it did not happen after the hardfork in August but we may experience a little upward rise maybe close to $400. I think coins is going to flows back to some altcoins like litecoin, USDT, Wave and stratis. Eth will recover but it might not get good pump like the foregoing coins. Bitcoin core is also a cryptocurrency to watch as most big investors focus there attention on it and most of them don't even care what there stand for.

I for one would love to see my ethereum climb in value! I am not sure how sharp of a rise we will see in the near future, coin seems more of a steady grower! I would be happy to see it continue on the path its going down and gradually rise in value! I plan on holding this coin long term for sure.

There would be no fix answer on this one since all of people do really have different altcoin holdings which they would definitely go back once they do secure out their free coins an exchange it to bitcoin.For eth i cant say too much since this fork event doesnt a significant thing that will affect its price majorly on ETH.
Lets wait patiently on the possible things that would happen after the fork.

It should rise, but I predict it wont be by much. Say five or ten percent max, then after a week or two of being pumped it will revert back to three hundred or below as has been the case for most of 2017. Until Ethereum finds value outside of ICO's and is properly adopted this will be the case.

Won't be surprised if that happens. We're often seeing in such events that traders are trying to profit by riding each wave (post and pre-fork) and that usually drives the prices of alts in the short term. But that's the problem in my opinion, their value increases usually short term and after a couple of days things are balanced again. Which mean traders are taking profit after a short jump which is what makes cryptocurrencies so volatile. In my opinion a good strategy would be to hold both ETH and BTC, as you can't really predict which one will increase when, unless there is something drastic happening that you're sure will influence the price, just keep both of them and see them appreciate in value over the longer term. Riding on waves is not something that can be done unless you have years of experience (mostly FX traders who've been doing this for decades can be succesful, but most newbie traders simply get destroyed).

After hardfork then trader will return to ethereum and other altcoin, this is guaranteed and has been confirmed the price will go up. For Ethereum to be able to gain such a price as you estimate, it would need at least two things to happen. Firstly, the ETH users must support the new fork, and report no problems, and continue to mine and use it as before. Secondly, Bitcoin has to stop being on such a big bull run. With the price just going up so high, there's almost no space for an alt to come and creep in, especially not ETH in #2. 100 billion dollar market cap for Bitcoin, so ETH can just hope to solidify and attain its old $400 - that is the best scenario.

Yeah, that's what I think is the case most of the time. As we have observed from the first bitcoin fork (a.k.a. bitcoin cash), bitcoin price have increased a lot a week or two before August 1. Days after the forking, it immediately dropped to it's lowest of that month at $2,980. My suspicion (and I'm 95% sure of it) why it happened is that investors from other altcoins have withdrew their investments and put it in bitcoin before the forking, and then withdrew it by the time they've received their bitcoin cash. And that's still probably the case in this coming October 25 forking.

In my opinion, ethereum and other altcoins will rise up again once the forkings (actually, there are 2 coming bitcoin forking) are done. But the altcoin which I think will get a high boost in value after the forking is LITECOIN. There was a point where its value reached the $80 mark, then dropped to $40 (almost 50% decrease). Now, it is sitting at $64, and I hope that it will recover after the forking of bitcoin.

There is a possibility to increase its value, but if the value of bitcoin continuous increasing i think the value of ethereum will increase also but a little bit because i notice that value of eth are depending of the bitcoin value every dump of bitcoin price eth will start to increase its value.
After the fork bitcoin will be much stronger the value will more stable and not dump below $5000, but i am hoping also that ethereum will increase the stability of value to gives more profit for my investment and i am happy that ethereum are continuously increase its demand.

In the first bitcoin´s hardfork there was a lot of volatility with altcoin prices and bitcoin had a marked decline thanks to speculation and inexperience. now the bitcoin is having a bullish activity despite the proximity of the second fork combined that the BTCGold coin leaves much to be desired due to its delays, his team has not done tests in networks of test or testnet, in addition they have not yet implemented protection against replay attacks and have not changed the Proof of Work algorithm. so wait to see how the market reacts to the arrival of this new altcoin that for my opinion will not make much noise.

We might definetly see price of ETH aswell as other altcoins going up after BTC hard fork on October 25th. Because a lot of people is now dumping their altcoins just to buy more BTC to get "free" BTC Gold. You can also see see that BTC dominance in market cap is raising while marketcap value is more or less the same. That's why we can see increase in BTC price and decrease in altcoin prices. According to that after 25th of October we will probably see increase in altcoin price and slight decrease in BTC price.

You are absolutely right in this regard. You all better know the bitcoins and altcoins are reciprocal of one another. They are growing against each other. So if we talk about ETH price, nothing would be bad for this when this hard fork come for bitcoin. So not only $600-700, I think it will even cross this because bitcoin is going to suffer huge shock.

I think it will also jump because they also have a fork this October 15 if I'm not mistaken. Once they release bitcoin gold almost all of altcoin will pump because many will buy back altcoin and all will back to normal again.

there is a good chance for a huge dump of ethereum.

i honestly wound't be surprised to wake up one morning and see ETH price plunged hard down to half the price ($150) and with a brand new competition for it called bitcoin gold with its bitcoin features and all the mining with GPU, it can simply replace eth in the investor's portfolios.

i know a lot of the miners are waiting to start mining it with their GPUs as soon as it is released and then pump the price up to take the position of ETH for both traders, in market cap and for miners.

We can not say whether the price of ethnoum will ever rise or fall after the Bitcoins hardcor. This may increase when those who have received Bitcoin Gold are already selling. Just one thing I'm sure about to happen is the drop of bitcoins after the hardfork because I'm sure they will sell them to keep up with the Altcoins.

usually a successful fork is a good indicator that the price will rise.. that materialized in this latest fork as you might have noticed, with BTC going from 4.9 to 5.7k, which is quite cool. Have a look at ETH now.. and see if something similar happens after the latest hard fork in implemented successfully

I hope so. The altcoin market will definetly feel the impact of the fork, so not only Ethereum price might jump up, but also many other altcoins (Ripple, LTC, etc). The fork might become an opportunity for many people to try to invest in bitcoin and ETH. We didn't see a significant change when bitcoin cash happened, so i'm hopeful that in the next couple of weeks ETH price will have some growth, and even more after the fork.

We do have the ETH fork as well (today) so that is also one to watch, but yes after the BTC fork I think money will move into alts. I think bitcoin gold will fall, but I'm not totally sure about that one.

Really hard to say for certain. Many altcoin investors shift their money to bitcoin because of the upcoming split to get free coins. Two possible scenarios that I can think it. [1] Those altcoin investors stick with bitcoin and the free coins they got was reinvested on bitcoin because the price of it is was still rising, so it make sense to stick with it and take profit. [2], altcoin investors, once they got their free coins, put it to altcoin specially Ethereum pumping it to almost $400. I think we can have a clear view once everything settles down on the bitcoin market and see if Ethereum has gain from this Bitcoin Gold fork.

Nothing lasts forever

There is a good chance for most of the altcoins to rise up after the fork has been done. Obviously Bitcoin's price will drop since traders will migrate their coins to altcoins which will make most of the altcoins to have a spike in the price. Ethereum, Ripple, OMG, NEO, LTC etc.. are some good coins which may see a good increase in price. Ethereum of all the coins will definitely see an increase in price since there is hype about ETH in the market.
ICOs may also have a good rise in their tokens.

probably it will rise before or after the hardfork. based on article, ethereum software sees delay ahead of byzantium fork. The Byzantium countdown, And we should see a huge pump from this fork. Probably the bitcoin will have a correction while it's happen. ANd it means a pump for altcoin.

All alt coin will recover faster than anybody have ever thought after this hype of upcoming fork will be over. People can't just keep buying bitcoin with high speculation, expecting some big players/whales to secure profit at around $6k.

That I don't know. It is hard to assume but I'm hoping that many altcoins will pump after the fork. Bitcoin Cash is successful and now also one of the top altcoins in the market. I think Bitcoin Gold will also become successful. I'm not sure if the price of Ethereum will rise significantly because of this.

Though I would expect other altcoins price to rise since most of the people that sold their altcoins to maximize their bitcoin gold airdrop would all buy back the same or more of the altcoins they dumped in the first place.
