In general, I see a certain benefit in this innovation. But I do not think that messages between wallets will need to be used often. First of all, we must proceed from the fact that this is an additional opportunity to identify our wallet. If it is possible to store the text of messages on certain servers, then it is possible that this will be used for bad purposes by people who will have access to them or at the request of the relevant law enforcement agencies.
On the other hand, we may need to confirm our profits in cryptocurrency in order to legalize it. In this case, a message from our wallet to any wallet that will be at the disposal of the tax authorities will be proof that the wallet from which the message was sent belongs to us.

I believe that was a good move for Etherscan developers because it gives more additional functions, and it was slowly evolving from just a single-purpose platform into a multi-function platform by adding some additional features like the BlockScan chat so all I can say is it is not finished yet I believe we can expect more product development from Etherscan in the near future.

Thinking and researching this new feature. And at the moment I do not quite understand how it can be useful to me. Maybe later I will evaluate all the positive aspects, but so far I do not need it. As rightly noted, there are more popular messengers for messaging.

Good news for the ethereum community, now that we can recognize and get closer to the ethereum network, it's really cool. I guess it's a kind of social media but it only works in the chat feature only, maybe in the future ethereum will add a "add friends" feature.

As much as I'd love seeing these new features the Etherscan team has added, I don't see any day to day trader or crypto user using this feature. There's a ton of free and more accesible messaging apps right now that offer far better features. Telegram even has private/secret chats and based on the what OP wrote, this one don't. Not to mention this can only be accessed through a browser right? It would be a hassle to go through all that just to send an unencrypted message.

Can you say that it's an alternative to Telegram or Messenger? Or any messaging service that is native to the blockchain application? Isn't this already the step towards the messaging platform you are talking about?
Of course not, It's not an alternative to any messaging application. It just trying to make a communication medium between two etherscan users. People can communicate with each other in various NFT marketplaces or make a contact with hackers. They have various options to protect the users, Ex: Anti-spam option(Only allow new chat conversations from Users who have sent at least one transaction on Ethereum (only applies before the start of a new conversation)., and they also said in TOS that they will block any address if it sharing spam things or information. However, it's now in beta testing mode, and they said it's not decentralized, so there is a change in data sharing.

I don't think is gonna work and only for spamming scammer and phishing.
Why do we need this one, while blockchain should be anonymous and can't be traceable? IMO, just a failure feature while this is coming out. Better to stay right now without chat, most project (ICO) also offering this kind of feature.
Ended with failed.
Users can block spam addresses or archive chats for unwanted messages. Turning on the option will help users for more not facing any spam or fishing things. After beta mode, I think it will be a new form of communication.

Im not sure if this is good idea. Some of the users might get tracked based on their wallet if linked to them and possibly be monitored by scammers and give them phishing links.

Dont know if this is a pro buuy for me its not. Maybe can be used to troll some people or find a time to do some chit chat.

We already have too many social related chain I think reddit is much better with this or telegram.
correct there's a possibility of hacking since most of the users on that platform can easily send any stuff through chat or can copy links to track users using ip address and of course for that reason there's a possibility as well to get our information without knowing. So its not a good idea to be honest because of what technology we have right now wherein it would be a big problem in my personal opinion..

This is interesting, but I'm worried this will be abused to scam people. Hopefully, people are already vigilant with their surroundings and make intelligent decisions by that time.

It cannot be an alternative to Telegram or Discord. This is completely different to them the only benefit I can assume is more anonymity as it is wallet based and confidence to another user as they know whom they are dealing with. Scammers will easily find a way here too as they can easily send phishing messages which can lure newbies to them.

I think this is an exciting development on privacy-base messaging. Certainly, we could not expect this wallet-to-wallet messaging option to be on the mainstream - but then who knows years from now - head to head with popular messaging platforms like Telegram, Messenger and many others. However, this can be a good option one can use if one is really concern on privacy thing. But it has to make sure that scammers and hackers are not also using the same thing and will not be using this messaging option to victimize people. Let's then see how a platform like this can be developing.

It's is a advance technology for Ethereum blockchain. where user can instantly message each other, wallet-to-wallet. it will help people to verify wallet ownership easily like digital signature. and also user can chat with others wallet holders. Along with the advantages, there are some disadvantages as many scammers will try to hack the wallet by phishing here.  And since everyone has to have a wallet login status to chat here, there is a risk of scam. So it must be understood and used with caution

Looks cool but I don't even know if I'm going to use this new feature/platform. While wallet address isn't directly linked to identity, I still don't feel like communicating with other users. I understand the use of victims directly communicating with the hackers though. I don't think it would help a lot in recovering balances but at least they get to say something.

Etherscan Creators Launch 'Ethereum Instant Messenger' Blockscan Chat.
A couple of days ago, I made a post about how users can send any messages from wallet to wallet. (publicly)
Recently an update came out that Etherscan Creators Launch 'Ethereum Instant Messenger' Blockscan Chat.
The team behind the blockchain explorer platform Etherscan has launched a wallet to wallet instant messaging service.
The team Blockscan is now
Blockscan Chat is a messaging platform for crypto users to simply and instantly message each other, wallet-to-wallet, access messaging from multiple devices, block spammy addresses, and get notified when any message has been received. Blockscan is currently testing in beta mode.

Why do any crypto users use the Blockscan Chat to send messages instead of your phone or any other chat applications?
The answer would be to maintain control of users' data, use censorship-resistant platforms, or communicate with privacy.
I think it opened some new doors of communication:
  • The new features made a great way to chat to another unknown crypto person, say to interact with any anonymous purchases. Ex: communicate with the hackers.
  • It could be helpful in the NFT industry. Both buyer and seller could negotiate with each other.

So, how all this stuff works;
First, go to google search blockscan or go to https://blockscan.com/
you can see all the related options like Discover, Bridges, TOS, etc. At the bottom of the page, you'll find the chat option. After clicking on chat, you'll come to the chat service page.

The page includes all the features and information that the platform is providing now. You can your wallet through Metamask and Wallet Connect. If your metamask is in a different blockchain, it will automatically sign in with your address (as we all know that we can use one DEFI address in a different blockchain).
A sign-in pop up will come for your permission. Click sign-in, Bingoo Cheesy

Now you can see all the messages or start a new conversation. You can get benefits of all basic things of a messaging application, like
  • Block any user
  • Archive chat
  • QR code login
  • Messeage sound
  • Anti spam option(Only allow new chat conversations from Users who have sent at least one transaction on Ethereum (only applies before the start of a new conversation)
  • Set nickname
You get a notification when any message came into your address's inbox.

If you click on your address profile from your chat room, you will get basic information about your wallet.

The service runs on Etherscan's servers and messages don't get stored on a blockchain, according to the app
According to their terms of user privacy, Blockscan states that its information is stored in global hosting providers with servers across multiple regions.
It also notes that the information of users will not be dealt with by third parties, but will be disclosed or transferred to partnered parties like data warehouses, IT service providers, and data analytics agencies. According to its TOS, any user who violates its acceptable use policies such as providing false, misleading news may be blocked from all of Blockscan and Etherscan related services.
I think, in short, it doesn't have the benefits of decentralization.
However, Blockscan opened a new way to communicate with the crypto people. We hope, in near future, other blockchains also create their own messaging platform.
