Thank you for your reply VirosaGITS
Can u please be more specific regarding overclocking,
in the following lines what should i change for matching my XFX cards mentioned above

# SAMPLE PER-RIG CONFIG FOR AMDGPU (for a 6-gpu rig)
# NOTE: pwr is DPM state range 0-7, set lower for lower power usage, set higher if overclocking.
# ------------------------------------------------------
# cor c94e13 1180 1180 1180 1180 1180 1180
# mem c94e13 2150 2150 2150 2150 2150 2150
# pwr c94e13 4 4 4 4 4 4

Overall, your suggestion is NOT to proceed with overclocking for my cards???

thanks again

..heh? No i told you how to set specific core for however many gpu you want. If you need further support, come by #IRC, you will get help in a matter of minutes, instead of days.

Hi kotarius

I have been told that Ethos further than its stability, also is the best OS for power consumption, it uses less than Win10.

Considering the above please inform me two things.
-If I don't care about power consumption, and the PSU has potential to give more, can Ethos some how, use more power so to have better performance (more hashes)?
If yes, is this doable only by overclocking the GPUs?

-And about overclocking, can you please post a sample.conf for a specific GPU [6-gpu rig of XFX Radeon RS RX 480 8GB (RX-480P836BM)]
because I am not sure what values to change in the sample of the knowledge base http://ethosdistro.com/pool.txt

Hello Faliro, as per the sample you linked, format for setting core per gpu is "cor GPU0 GPU1 ..." etc.

Consumption is mostly relative to the workload you put/get on the card, and the hashrate limit you get on current algos are more limited by memory than core.

Unless you're planning on getting 60+ cards i'd stick with proven Samsung memory 8G cards, such as Nitro 8G. 470 or 480 doesnt matter much.

Same Questions please:
1. Does ethos supports dual/merged mining?
2. Sgminer can be used for zcash as well or only for eth?
3. Is sgminer already installed to ethos recent version?

Thanks for your efforts kotarius

1. Yes, you can can dual mine with claymore:

http://ethosdistro.com/kb/#adding-claymore : look at step 5

2. Our sgminer-gm installation is only for ETH. You can use claymore-zcash miner in ethOS to mine zcash.

3. Yes

I have a rig with RX380 and RX480 cards. Does this version of ethos support the different chipsets in the same rig? Thanks

There is no such thing as RX 380. There is, however, R9 380. Due to driver instability, you cannot mix R9 with RX series.

I recommend anyone using EthOS to mine ETH - use sgminer-gm and NOT claymore!

I get more hash-rate and obviously - no fee.

Fail to plan, and you plan to fail.
I love this and the only reason i use it is because it is more stable then windows is now at first it wasn't but it has come a long way sense then and i highly recommend it to any one ...........I have two copy's and plan to buy two more over time .. i won't need any more after that ...

Rigs are like cats, the second you get more than one, its always just one or two more. Before you know it, you're a crazy rig guy. Wink

That is sooooo accurate bro 😂😂😂

The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom
I have been using EthOS for nearly a year now and it's great! frequent updates and many choices of which coin to mine and which miner/s to use.

I tried Windows/Claymore for XMR, ZEC and ETH but I went back to EthOS for its stability and reliability. Using win7 x64 it was a pain in the butt to run a 6 GPU rig and get the drivers to apply to all GPUs. I went back to EthOS becasue it "just works" without all that messing around. My only complaint is that sgminer-gm-xmr gives me slightly lower has-rate than claymore's cryptonight miner and it usues a LOT of CPU resources - but it uses less power so it balances out.

Now that ETH is profitable again I am using it for ETH, using the sgminer-gm and getting higher hash-rates than claymore but with no fee!

Thanks Kotarius.

ethOS is a 64-bit linux OS that mines Ethereum, Zcash, Monero, and other GPU-minable coins. Altcoins can be autotraded to Bitcoin.

#ethosdistro on freenode.

There are 6500 total ethOS rigs currently mining.

Features

Boots and mines: Automatic IP/hostname assignment, no need to install any drivers, configure XWindows, or compile any software.
Supports multiple coins: Ready to mine Ethereum, Zcash, Monero and many other gpu-minable coins.
Browser-based terminal: allow setup and configuration of ethOS rigs by connecting to their IP addresses via your web browser.
Supports all hardforks and softforks: Blockchain syncing handled by pools and wallets.
Supports up to 8 AMD GPUs: Any 2GB+ HD 7000 series, any R9 200/300/Fury/Nano, and any RX 400 series.
Works on your hardware: Running on thousands of rigs with thousands of different components.
Remote configuration: Instruct rig to remote reboot, set core clocks, mem clocks, fan control, pool info, and other settings remotely.
Extremely lightweight: Works with weakest possible CPU made in the last 5 generations on only 2gb of ram.
GPU overheat protection: GPUs will automatically throttle or turn off if they reach temperature thresholds.
Stratum enabled: Automatically configured to mine via efficient stratum.
Automatic reporting: Web panel with detailed rig statistics, charts, and event reports (example).
Easy KVM: A terminal window opens with focus on boot, no mouse required.
Easy update: Update to the latest ethOS version with a single command.
Fast startup: Fast miner startup, low disk/cpu usage, and no out-of-space issues.
Bios flashing: atiflash utility allows for quick gpu bios flashing.
