Where are you trading? At MtGox your money is always converted from EUR to USD when you deposit because you can only trade in USD.
Tradehill has different markets for different currencies. If you have euros you can only trade in the EUR market (but you can buy bitcoins in euros and sell them in dollars, for example). However, Tradehill is considering the possibility for money conversion. You can follow the discussion here: http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=30198.msg380408#msg380408

Hi,

I've got a question because I'm wondering if it's better to fund my exchange account with EUR or USD.

So, suppose I fund my account with EUR, and create a 'buy' order, e.g 'I'll buy 10BTC at 12EUR/BTC'.

Do I have to wait for a 'sell BTC at 12EUR/BTC' order to appear, or if there is a 'sell BTC at 16USD/BTC' order, my 'buy' order will get executed and EUR exchanged to USD so that the seller gets paid in USD?

If this is not the case, and I'd have to wait for a 'sell BTC for EUR' order, this would decrease the probability of me buying, because there would be much less 'sell for EUR' offers that 'sell for USD'?

Thanks in advance for any insight on this.
