I participated in my first trading competition back in 2021, and it was an incredible experience! It was a team competition, and I was privileged to be among a talented group of traders. Although we didn't emerge victorious, I seized the opportunity to enhance my skills and learned a great deal.

I still recall frequently revisiting the live feed on YouTube to analyze and improve my strategy. The competition had a profound impact on me, and I emerged a better trader. What are your thoughts on trading competitions? If you're aware of any upcoming competitions, I'd love to hear about them!

Believe me, I have come to know from your post for the first time that there are trading competitions and I am happy to know that there is something like that. I will participate in it
Don't be too quick to nurse an interest to participate in just a swift of knowing about it that there's something called trading competition. There are important combination of factors you've got to possess if you want to stay in profit when join a trading competition of which some others have made mentioned in the preceding comments, such as having the grand knowledge, some big capital, possessing tools that provides you with the necessary information to stay competitive up there. Except you just want to get in for the trading experiences that can be obtained otherwise you will have no advantage there with the big fishes. If you have a nice strategy that's working for you as an individual trader I'll propose you stick to it with your little profits.

I am not really a fan about those competitions if I am honest, and this is because I think that a trader should only make a move once the market is moving as predicted.

Trading competitions force people to overtrade with the hopes of beating their competitors, and this teaches bad habits to traders as they are always looking for an excuse to join the action, so once the competition is over, it is likely this attitude will become prevalent for a time, which is precisely what exchanges want since they earn more money the more trades you actually do.

This is the first time that I have heard someone saying that this is the first time that they have heard of trading competitions because since trading started, since then trading competitions existed and many major exchanges such as Binance, ByBit, and Coinbase host plenty of trading competitions, and the ones who trade the most within a month or a week will be rewarded accordingly if they rank in the leaderboard. This is called a trading competition.

There are only two cases where you can say I don't know about trading competition either you are new to the industry or you haven't researched at all since you joined the industry you are just stuck in one place. You don't really know what is happening and what is not happening, where you can make money in trading, or what is going on in trading you have not done any research yet.

Trading competition has negative effect too because it can make you to become too focused on the competition that you would not want to lose which is not a good habit all the time because it can make you do things you would not like.
I think trading competition is for those who are already very skilled in trading. Even though anyone can follow it, the results probably won't be as good as expected. although there are positive impacts as you say that can be obtained.
This competition is of course given a certain period of time and that creates pressure for a trader. Moreover, the target to be achieved is certainly high and it will be difficult for those who are not really experts in trading to compete.

When it comes to trading I never compete because I prefer to trade on my own without any pressure to win any competition in that regard. Although for some people it may seem very attractive because they can hope to win and can also be motivated to continue to improve their own trading skills in order to continue competing when it opens again on any exchange. And I think you have experienced extraordinary things through your trading experience so you should continue to try if the opportunity is still open.

Trading competition can improve your trading skills because you will always want to become the better trader to win the prize therefore you will be cautious on how you are trading so you do not encounter losses and this will improve your overall trading ability. Trading in groups is another benefits that this competition can give because you meet other traders that you can learn from and also impact. Trading competition comes with a prize money and that is the biggest benefits because you can use your share to continue trading and grow the capital to a bigger amount than could change your life. Trading competition has negative effect too because it can make you to become too focused on the competition that you would not want to lose which is not a good habit all the time because it can make you do things you would not like.

Nope, I haven't participate in any trading competition.

I feel like it's wasting my time and i don't think it will increase my skill because most of time I do trading without using technical skill, I'm just using my feeling and global economic news. I haven't lose in trading because if I lose, I will hold until the price comeback like when I bought it. Tongue

Now I'm in floating loss since I bought Bitcoin when the price was $67K. Cheesy
Trading competition is like any other competition in which they usually has a prize prepared for the winners, therefore I won't say that they are a waste of time. If the sponsors are also huge, expect that the prizes were also juicy but other than the prize, another benefits that we can get here is experience.

Expect that participants there are well-skilled, so it actually enhances your skill because you are also doing your best in order to surpass them. You can still improve after it, if you are serious because you will learn from your mistakes and use what happened as a motivation. You may not using technical skill but you are still using fundamental skill there which are better than relying on your instinct alone.

Back in 2019 was when I first learned about trading competitions with one decentralized exchange, but today the exchange is not in existence again. I didn't join the competition because trading was more difficult back then compared to now that we have more easy trading tools. Also, I didn't join any trading competitions because I knew that there were other professional traders who would definitely win, not me. I don't see trading competition as something that can enhance my trading knowledge, and that's also one reason why I don't bother myself with it.

Competitions such as this do come with their advantages and their disadvantages of which i will not fail to mention soon, but just before then, I'm going to tell my own story of a trading competition i did engaged in this year, it was a crypto trading competition organized by a trading platform which I'm not go into mention their name, their conditions were very good and really flexible which was supposed to be seen as an advantage but then it wasn't such that i was able to utilize enough to my advantage enough hence i had to make sure to do the best i can to manage the much that was given me to participate in the competition but then i wasn't experienced enough and i was dropped off the competition sooner than i could think of. one thing  I known about this competition, is to make sure you are trading to get experience especially if its your first attempt and you are yet to be really good at your craft because rushing to trying to win when you known you aren't experienced enough so i had to make it a place to learn some more and add to my skill, hopefully i get better at my second trial.
If you would reallybe trying out to hone up your skills then it would really be something that will really be that an advantage for you to do so when you do joining up these competitions on which you do know
that it is really that something that will really be that making your trading skills much more better. The only key on here is that you shouldnt really be that making yourself to expect something positive
about on the results or outcome on the moment that you would really be making out such competition because we do know that there would really be tons of people who are really that better than us.

Also, you should really be that allocating funds on which it would really be that just only good for that such competition. Never ever make yourself that hopeful that you could
make money out of it but if you do set yourself onsome challenge then it would really be that just depending on you because not all would really be that having that
kind of mindset but rather they do really that becoming that too unrealistic with things.

Trading competition on exchange is not skill based but rather volume based which means it’s impossible to win any exchange competition using small amount of capital since the metrics they are using to determine the winners is always a trading volume rather than winning percentage or profit percentage to the capital.

There’s no exchange that I know which has a mechanics that is different to the typical trading volume basis. So in general, it’s a waste of time to join since it doesn’t demonstrate your trading skills to win but rather your capital size is the key to win which is not a competition already for whales that has insane capital.

I have joined multiple trading competitions and the current one is with Binance Futures.

https://www.binance.com/en/FGT/JUNE2024

This is the current month and I am with the Gunbot Team. it is really fun to participate in such competitions because you have combined goal with Team and it’s a collective effort.

They would probably have a next month competition.

This activity or event for me is superb! It will help every trader out there and it will help those new to trading to strive hard to learn more about trading, it's not only the exchange itself that has exposure here because a lot of traders will learn, some will learn from mistakes that will improve their trading journey.

You will be careful when trading here, even you are not aiming for the prize as long as you participate, it's already a big help!

Joined KCGI 2024 a while back. And I'm loving the experience. It tests your trading psychology and pushes you to the limit. There'll be a live draw tomorrow on YT. You can join and probably you might get lucky to win some rewards too.

I'd say like others, trading competitions aren't for weak hands. One must have mastered trading and have a substantial amount in the bag to opt for it. For this event you've shared, from what I'm seeing, I know it's the exchange's annual event. They may simply be trying to show how legit their competition is by drawing for winners in a Livestream. It's encouraging though that they'll also reward those watching the Livestream. Com'on, this is happening just tomorrow, 28th June

Yeah few hours now, the event is also trending on X. I guess it's cos of the  generous prize pool. $1k is no joke.

I did, but I didn't participate on purpose because at that time the local exchange I usually trade in was holding a trading competition, entered as one of the winners but unfortunately, I was late in claiming the prize so I didn't get anything, but that wasn't a problem because the prize was relatively small and also because I never intended to take part in the trading of this competition so no regrets.
However, from what I have noticed, trading competition is only suitable for big investors, the average trader finds it difficult to compete with them in any category.

What are your thoughts on trading competitions?
They're good stepping stones for us to become better traders. Before and even until now, I always received those emails to join these competitions.

It's automatically for all the users of particular exchanges that I use. I've tried my best but none of them became a winning piece for me.

I guess that you try hard, there's someone that's trying even harder than you can imagine. You just take the lesson and the experience that you've got which will benefit you in the long run.

I am sure from that time till now, you’ve enhanced your trading skills and knowledge. Some trials like this are meant to open your horizon to the broader picture and intensify in your knowledge. It is a good one and you’ll sure be proud that you didn’t miss the opportunity to take part in that.

I haven’t participated in any of that’s but it will be a privilege to take part in one even though my trading skill is not that excellent and haven’t got plenty of time dedicated to it to improve the skill. Maybe with the competition and seeing how other members of the team are trying to come out victorious will make me want to push more and be amongst the best too. Competitions like this are good and if I have the opportunity to take part in one, I’ll quickly seize the opportunity.

Am sure you will enjoy competing because their is always something new that you have not tried out and have the opportunity to even compete is something to be joyful about even if you don’t win. And you will feel encouraged by those that have won. And I think the judgement should be based on profit and have seen most of the training centers offering completions with gifts just to encourage people to get better at trading and that is why sometimes I feel people attending to learn trading through does schools is not actually a bad idea if you really want to learn you will learn. And their a lot of wat if you want to learn or even improve going to YouTube also is not a bad idea because you will definitely learn from those tutoring you. You keep seen new things. And for those are really interested in trading should take it seriously. And you will see that when next you apply for that same competition you will win just because you have chosen to improve.

Yes, I have my experience to join a trading competition before but it's not with crypto because I started my trading journey with the stock market and joining that competition pushes me to learn more and do good, though as expected I'm was not able to make good profit by that time and it's a big paper loss actually. The good thing when joining a competition is that, you will be pushed up to your limit and you will be more inspired to trade better.

I also participated in a new exchange which is what they do to promote the exchange. I only found myself depositing to that new exchange and lost because it looked like it was manipulated. All the top earners in the list are Chinese names I couldn't even read while I couldn't find any Chinese names in the telegram channel.
I would certainly avoid joining trading competition unless the exchange is as well-known already and not new.

What kind of trading competition is this on the same event like traders have in different table and will see if who has the higher gains of all time or just an exchange competition like the binance and other platform held?.
I never been participated in those events because of course I'm not an active daily trader that grab every market movement just a casual trader and also some of those have a target goals for the largest trades in their leaderboard but if those have seminars and open forum I guess I will participate those are additional gain of information to my trading journey too.

I haven't tried but I believe this could uplift some confidence when one of our teammates gives some boost and support. It is a good way of learning and urges you then to work hard to develop helpful strategies. Contributing new ideas benefits everyone whereas if you are new and are not skillful enough, you are the one who benefits more. This is an advantageous move for beginners but as we know, it is not competition that solely makes someone become a competitive trader or become successful, it is all about how a trader develops themselves when alone. A lot of changes when doing alone compared to doing in a team because decision-making may vary.

But still, I preferred to do trading because if I commit mistakes, I only blame myself and nobody blames me as well.

What are your thoughts on trading competitions?
It will require a lot of confidence to want to partake in a trading competition, Because it will require a lot of skill and confidence in yourself first and what you bring to the table if you are in a team. I do not think that it will be beneficial for any newbie in trading to want to try out a trading competition when their knowledge and skill in trading is not enough yet because if it is an individual competition and they come out last, that can really hurt their confidence and decision to be traders.

Which platform did you try?

I used to join a lot of forex ones back in the old days, babypips did a lot, kinda like forum run competitions anyway, and mostly not needing a big bankroll. Good to get experience especially on particular platforms.

Tried a few on Pancakeswap when it was new. Got a few NFTs and made money, you could do that with Uniswap and all that too.

But the ones on CEX I think are hard to win. And also I don't think it really improves you as a trader. It's all built for scalpers and wash traders Tongue You're competing with bots basically washing Smiley

There was a portfolio competition here on btt (which I haven’t joined) but I haven’t noticed a trading competition before. People who play safe usually don’t do well in these competitions. It is like gambling. Low risk takers are guaranteed to lose the competition but they will probably keep their initial investment. High risk takers on the other hand, may or may not lose their initial investments but since they are taking so much risk, if they win big, they will also win the competition. I do 3-5 trades annually so I don’t think I can win a trading contest.

never participated in one because the odd of me winning probably low, I mean other people have sophisticated tools to start with such as bloomberg terminal and so on, ain't no way people with limited information could have the edge over people that own something like that, though if it's technical analysis it does still work for these kind of competition. not to mention that like also other have mentioned its a race of capital, the people with big capital got the biggest advantage if the criteria is based on how much profit we earn not the percentage.

I just don't feel like these trading competition is really designed for the average joe at all in my opinion but from your statement it seems just following this kind of competition regardless of the reward might give good experience.

honestly i've seen many trading competition from dexes too from perpetual to spot usually the people that got higher rank are the one that always active almost as if 24/7 too, probably a team, so for individual like me, just further lower the chance of winning.

Generally trading competition is for the marketing of the project, boosting the volume, attracting new investors, etc. Most of the time the high capital holder enters such trading competition trades as you and I with average capital mostly avoid such type of trading competition but it can be a good opportunity in a side way.
During the completion due to the hype and volatility by taking a few precise trades you can generate a decent profit, except that the trading competitions are not recommended for newbies and early traders.

These are my words on trading competition, there are some other points but the core is here about what I think of these competitions, so I thought let's find an old post as this is also an old recurrent topic so let's save some energy for today.

Just add something in it that is also covered in other topics that, it its a capital race, if you have good capital and you are experienced enough go for it otherwise stay away.

I was trying to join some trading competition on Binance a month ago but there's a requirement I didn't meet the requirements that's why I failed.
You are lucky that you experienced the competition how about your team did they contact you and ask about your strategies?
I saw some videos on YouTube who join in competition usually their favorite indicator is vwap and by doing scalping they can increase the PNL pretty fast their skills are Amazing I learned a bit and copied their strategy but in my case, instead of making a profit I lost much than win.
That is why I decided to trade in an hourly time frame instead of a minute or 15-minute trading because it's pretty risky, and your capital will be lost quickly.
