All wallets tied to email and you can always restore the entrance through it or through your smartphone. Another thing is if you sent money to the wrong address. Then chances are you have little. As for backup it is a good idea. On the computer there is always information you want to save.

Thank You for all Your Replies!   I'm not sure if the loss of my wallet data was from a forced shutdown or a power outage from a thunder storm.  Just one day my wallet showed 0 bitCoins.  I didn't do any backups because I didn't want to mess anything up.  So If You Don't know how to backup your wallets.  STOP EVERYTHING Your DOING and Learn how to backup your wallets.   You May wakeup one day it can all be gone.  .77 of a bitCoin may not be much,  But it is a Huge amount of money for me.  My chances of Buying it back is near Zero.

I wish you guys better luck than I had!!

Cry This is so sad and heartbreaking I spent a lot of money(For Me) to be a part of bitcoin.  Then when it starts to go up to be  worth more than my saving and checking acct. together.  It Just Disappears.   The block chain failed for me.

So I guess I will have to start from Nothing again.  I may never get back to the .77 of a bitcoin  I had again.  So Sad!!

Everyone  Backup, Backup and Backup again.  You can loose it all with 1 computer shutdown. Cry

You lost it all because you shut down your computer? Or are you saying your computer died?

If your computer died usually it just means the Operating System crashed, your data would still be on your hard drive and able to be accessed.

Buy a new hard drive, install an operating system on that, plug your old harddrive into the secondary drive slot. You should be able to access all your files.

I was thinking the same thing, can you explain further how it got lost? Did you transfer it to your bitcoin wallet? Maybe it is just there and you just haven't receive the amount yet or whatnot. Or you could send a ticket too to trace back where your money is.

usually when people say "blockchain" they mean the website called "blockchain.info" in which case don't worry, it is just an account. contact the support and there are ways to recover it.
if not, then there may still be ways like what the above comment said.

also as a reminder when you take a backup make sure to encrypt it and store it in a safe place. keeping an unencrypted backup right there for the taking is as unsafe as not having it.
