that is also what I've noticed people are more investing to finding another planet to lived than focusing to fix our mother earth which is the sad problem, we constantly getting minerals and deforestation in our world as we need this resources and also people keeps inventing things that make the harvesting of those mineral faster than before and only people are taking care or fixing what they have destroyed.

Excess of everything is bad whether its continuous rain or drought. For last one year in my country there are unusual rains along with hailstorm and due to this crop production has significantly gone down. Its may and in May we have heat at it's peak but due to unusual rains fans of off. There are floods coming in winter also due to these rains. There is urgent need of measures to stop global warming.  

I think we'll start to see much more dramatic weather cycles in future and it is, as always, going to affect the poorest the worst. Too little rain or too much rain can be equally damaging, but some countries are very poor at resource management because of government corruption or incompetence, are likely to be worse off. We are going to see more extreme weather events due to warming, the ice caps melting and certain areas which are close to sea level might actually be lost for this reason. These things can be mitigated somewhat by improving infrastructure to deal with flooding, but it's an expensive business and sometimes people don't reinvest money wisely into their future like they should.

Flood is natural occurrence which takes effects in every particular months of each year, this actually ravage our country on early month of October 2022, which almost rendered about 5 to 7 states homeless in my country, farms and livestocks were destroyed and lots of people misplaced their children and love ones due to the uncontrollable speed rate of the flood taking over the villages by surprise and shocked. At this points feeding became very hard, no place to sleep and have a rest. I don't think anyone should wish to experience such.

However, it can be controlled by building and constructing water channels across the the affected villages as well as reducing the rate at which buildings are being erected at the water lodges and swampy areas, this includes dumping of refuges in an unwanted place. Much filling of the swamps may cause flood because whenever it rains and there is no channel for the rain to flush away through the channels it remains stagnant and keeps increasing as the rain continuous, at the end will turn out to be flood.

It is undeniable that every time a natural disaster such as a flood occurs in your area, it has hampered the local community's economy. Yeah it's just like with anything in live, there's always a balance that needs to be had for things to be perfect..not too much rain, but not too much dry weather.  We are experiencing a similar thing here in the United States in certain areas. California has had some substantial rain themselves, which has put a hamper on tourism there which of course effects the economy as an entirety.

Well, January here is also a time of rainy season. But I must say this year was even more damaging because due to non stop raining, our place also ends up in flooding that cause to end some human and animals lives, and that has never happened before. Even if people have prepared for this rainy season, but we are not prepared for the flood. That’s why suspension of jobs and classes were observed, and I think the most affected were those stall business owners who can no longer sell for few days because of the flood, leaving their own families starving.

Water cause by rains are helpful for the farmers to grow their crops well but too much of it can hamper their crops. I think it's important for them to study how the seasons work so that they won't waste money and time on planting but they can grow their crops effectively.

Here we are also facing a severe rainy season. It rains almost everyday and all day long, but that is normal, due to the currently season of the year. Dirt roads become impassable sometimes on the reclined parts and there is nothing we can do besides waiting. Plain, flat areas where farmers use to grow crops and let their cattle eat are completely taken by water, like a great river. But again, that is normal because the nature has been behaving like this since a long time ago.

We should adapt ourselves to this reality and prepare for times like this. For an example: don't spend too much money investing on crops that might be lost to the excessive rain, build houses on safe terrain, make sure there is a decent water flow mechanism in houses and city, prefer projecting and developing suspended buildings.

I wonder if its feasible to use a pipeline to pump flood waters into nearby drylands. There are industrial pumps which can move hundreds of gallons per minute. The hard part could be finding a place to pump all of the excess water to.

Or dig trenches and pits to funnel excess flood waters into. Excavators and bulldozers might be able to gouge out a massive area near flooded cities, where flood waters could be redistributed to.

A higher percentage of sand and gravel in the soil can facilitate better water drainage.

I think regions with high concentrations of clay in the soil can act as a moisture barrier. Making them prone towards not draining and or being absorbed by the soil.

Flooding causes all types of major issues, even after flood waters recede. Hopefully city planners can better take into account changing weather patterns and adjust accordingly.

Flooding maybe hard to controlled especially if you are living in a city since there are only few trees around that will absorb the water, and the rest are huge buildings and infrastructures that have nothing to do to prevent the excessive rain. However, if you are a responsible citizen, you should always be prepared for it especially that heavy rains in our country is mostly expected at the beginning and end of the year. Have your own basic necessities ready before the water becomes high, and if possible look for an evacuation area in case the water is unstoppable anymore that it goes through inside the house and damage the appliances.

It's sad to see any country hit by these freak weather events, unfortunately as a collective whole humanity are slowly ruining this planet and over population plays a big part in it. Nobody knows where the limits are when it comes to the right population level and if there was less waste it could probably cope with more than it does now, however we are doing so much damage right now there will be a point where it is irreversible. We are driving species to extinction through activities like deforestation, we are helping to acidify the ocean while also over fishing, we create so much unrecyclable waste it is crazy and these are just a few of the problems. As the world continues to heat up, again driven by human activity, we are likely to see more and more extreme events like these.

My area was also once flooded maybe two weeks ago and I can say that it has cause tremendous effects on the business owners as some of their items were damaged because of the excessive water that has entered already into their floors. So it’s not helping at all, even the animal farms here are also seen dead because the water is overflowing that made them drown and died. Maybe it’s more of a climate change, but if this will constantly happen, it will be a huge reason for the country’s economy to fail and will hard to prosper again.

Countries that rely heavily on agricultural produce for export to strengthen their economy are mostly affected when flood seasons occurs and it reduces the GDP. So it can really affect economic cycle and it has damaging effects on SMEs bcuz day to day transactions won't be done with ease....  So it's definitely true. The only challenge I have with this is that some floods can be anthropogenic (man-made) especially in areas of poor sewage management....

When the forces of nature conspired against Man, there certainly is not much we can do but to weather the storm and rebuild afterwards. I've seen the news, the reports, and all the articles surrounding this flooding and it's really devastating to see families suffer and farmlands destroyed. It will take months or even years to get back that farmland to shape,  ut the lives of those who perished will never be returned. Intense rains that cause flood causes a massive setback economically, not just to those directly affected but also those who rely on these products to survive. Needless to say, in a war of attrition, you don't really stand a chance against nature no matter how rich you may be.

Economic cycle? This is a natural climatic disaster, it doesn't only disturbs the economic cycle but the complete life cycle of a certain place. I agree. Sometimes it is being underestimated how the factor of rain can actually hamper an economic cycle. In my country, there are crops that rely heavily on rain or the rainy season. However, rains could come in extremes. While rain could be anticipated, even prayed for, sometimes it simply comes too much.

Entire rice fields and other crops could all go to waste because of excessive rain. Not only that, even hectares and hectares of fish ponds could be damaged by too much rain. Not to mention that so many other economic activities could also be put to a halt because of rain.

Unfortunately, excessive rains are becoming a normal occurrence thanks to climate change.

First of all I'm very sorry for what you have had to experience due to flooding. This is also the case in my country, where residents dispose of refuse in drainages without considering the consequences. Each time I tell some citizens about the consequences of their actions to rain insults on me and always tell me to mind my business. Yes definitely that is nightmare for every farmer and the whole economy depends on our food! With such natural calamities it gets worsen for every sector. It starts from the basics like farming, water treatment plants, supply chain based on it.

We had similar situation in my town, it was disaster everywhere. We couldn’t even get to our offices, vegetables were short on market, water was untreated.

I hope that on this day all of you are always healthy and can still carry out activities as usual with great comfort, because here at the end of Indonesia where I am experiencing flooding due to continuous rain for the last 12 hours and causing puddles in several villages that are very close with the outskirts of the city as well as being very close to the river. Usually we say that rain is a blessing for farmers, but excess water is a disaster for everyone so that it hampers the activities of all local residents and will obviously greatly affect their economic cycle.

Some of the residents' land belonging to farmers around here have been flooded and hopefully the rain will stop soon and the puddles can recede soon and I hope the local government will be able to handle this properly soon.
