Now majority of erc token are supported by exchanges but if you looking for certain exchange then etherdelta or liqui.io.use liqui if you find difficulty in etherdelta as it is decentralised exchange.bittrex has begin adding new erc token as well ,so it has good volume to exchange.

If you're finding it hard and too complex to use etherdelta, then I suggest looking at youtube videos for actual tutorials. It would be an easier way to learn an exchange. It will depend on the developer of the tokens on where they will be able to get their tokens into, but don't bet that new tokens would be listed on big exchanges like bittrex immediately. They only list coins that already have a volume.

Etherdelta looks complex when you use it on smart phone but it is more easy than its complexity when using in desktop mode.
However there are many more exchanges if you don't like etherdelta. For the exchanges tokens usually get listed on, you can use hitbtc.com, coinmarketcap.com.
Buying tokens is an easy step, create an account at myetherwallet.com and fill it with balance, then find a good ICO and make investments into their contract address via your myetherwallet.
When the ICO distribution starts, you will automatically receive tokens in you myetherwallet account you had made investments through.

Etherdelta will be complex for the first try of the people who use it but if you learn it nice then you will feel at ease when you trade your ERC coins there, And I advice you to go since that exchange are focusing only for ERC and nothing else more but if you like to explore the other coins then you should search their names on the coinmarketcap as suggested above me since you can see the list of there markets by clicking the market button of that site.
