The exchanges that has BTC/GBP ticker are: Kraken, Gdax, bittylicious, coinfloor. The only one that accept credit cards is bittylicious while the others are either allowing SEPA transfer (If that still works) and SWIFT. If you have a known card provider that allow Card to card transactions like Neteller, Its better to trade with individuals.

I want to join gdax so badly but I cannot overcome the verification step, my documents are not accepted by their system.

CEX.io accepts credit cards and you can deposit in GBP and hold and trade in GBP on the site. Deposits are 3.5 % by credit card which is quite a hefty fee however. The verification process can be a bit tedious as well but I have found them Ok once you get on. Not sure how it would work with Debit cards however.
