The most important thing for any cryptocurrency is to have exchanges to trade the coins. For example, https://exchange.thecoin.pw/ hosts many rare and valuable altcoins like bunnycoin, litedoge, batcoin, emerald, mooncoin, megacoin and many others. These coins have been long lost and forgotten about. Many holders for several years are now able to buy and sell their altcoins. This allows new price discovery. The main problem with the new exchanges is the low volume and low buy support.

The fact that those coins are forgotten a long time, what's the sense of trading it now. How come those become valuable when no development or progress has been made along the way. If I'm one of the hodlers of those coins, I will just dump it on that platform and that's it, but I doubt my sell order will be filled. There are lots of reputable sites around where can I trade some altcoins so no way I will test the waters on that site unless like I mentioned, I do have those mentioned coins.

Anyways, that's your own view. You always mentioned the name of that platform on each of your posts here which is like a form of shilling and not really based on your own preferences. But anyhow, if you think that platform really meets your criteria, it's your choice to use it.

Actually, I am an investor, I enjoy buying good deals. I find many of the old altcoins very great, and because some are forgotten, they can be purchased at very cheap prices. This can become very profitable. I am always posting the link because I want the focus to stay on the topic, the fact that without an exchange, altcoins have no value, and they can become valuable once again with new price discoveries.

I am fine if I am the only one who likes to buy old altcoins, but i have the feeling there are others. One day altcoins may be treated as foreign currencies and used similar to cash.

TheCoin.pw is a trusted mining pool provider and cryptocurrency exchange for multiple cryptocurrencies.

TheCoin.pw is now open for trading, please visit exchange.thecoin.pw to start buying / selling cryptocurrencies today!

TheCoin.pw Exchange
Website - https://exchange.thecoin.pw

  • BTC trading pairs
  • DOGE trading pairs
  • Low 0.1% trading fee
  • Low minimum buy/sell amounts

There are three exchanges which I would trust to a degree which are still operational
Kraken - Formed in 2011
Coinbase - Formed in 2012
Bittrex - Formed in 2013
Poloniex - Formed in 2014

This does not mean I would hold a lot of crypto on their spaces for any length of time,
they have their uses and storing coins long term is not one of them.

Two of the most high profile exchanges to cease trading for various reasons are Mt.Gox
and Cryptopia which proves that anything can happen and unless you hold the private seed
passwords to your wallet your coins are not controlled by you.

MT. GOX - Launched in July 2010 > February 2014, Mt. Gox suspended trading
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mt._Gox

Cryptopia - Cryptopia was founded in 2014 > On 15 January 2019 Cryptopia announced that they had "suffered a security breach which resulted in significant losses"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryptopia

I would use those four as well, except that Poloniex does not allow US users. Also, there are many altcoins that exist that are not traded on these multi-million dollar exchanges.

I don't consider new exchanges to be trustworthy quickly. You should understand that this is cryptocurrencies and there were exchanges in the past that scammed their users and made it looked like they were hacked. But in reality, they just did an exit scam.

A new exchange needs time to become trusted by the community and the people. If they are seen to be reliable and a good exchange, they will be noticed but today, people don't want to go that much with the newer ones unless trying it for testing purposes with small amounts.

New exchangers does really have the chance to be popular and trusted but doesnt mean it is 100% safe as said we do already saw top exchangers got hacked or exit  scammed.

This post do just simply trying to advertise that thecoin.pw exchange which do really just look a school project. In any angle i dont see for this platform to be trusted.
That's true and that's the reason why I can't consider new exchanges to be trusted as soon as possible. They've just launched and there's no way to prove themselves quickly because even the popular ones are having troubles so do the new ones.

Thank you all for your thoughtful replies.

I like this new exchange, and I think it has a lot of potential if people can give it a chance.
I don't even think that there are investors that are willing to trade and buy those kind of coins unless the volume goes high and it becomes popular which I doubt to happen.

you found a way to gain the traders who still holds these coins and are force to keep holding because they can't find a platform to dump it. that's a good starting point. there are lots of these coins where they were once listed on old exchanges like cryptsy and cryptopia.

It appears to me, that trusted and honest exchange websites like the new exchange https://exchange.thecoin.pw are the most important for the mass adoption of cryptocurrency for the world.

Currently countries like Venezuela have resorted to using Federal Reserve Notes, mostly in desperation. I believe Bitcoin and altcoins like Dogecoin will come to be more important in the long run. Exchanges allow price discovery and the ability to use any altcoin to transfer value if the markets gain liquidity.

It is not as easy as you think, we are facing the same problem. We have done every possible thing to gain trust for NIOC Exchange but people will only trust a new exchange platform like ours when they see others using it and are satisfied with the services.

Time and good work is all it takes for customer acquisition and trust.
Period.

How to be an honest and reliable exchange site as a new exchange, it takes time to gain trust. Where the platforms that spread quickly paid a lot of money for promotion and development.
Also, not all altcoins have value due to the fact that they are just copies of famous cryptocurrencies and therefore I do not think that they differ significantly from the currency of Venezuela.
So I think Dogecoin is useless.

Exchanges represent a crucial part of the infrastructure as on/off-ramp for crypto and as such, they should be monitored closely. I agree to the above that exchanges should not be trusted right away and always exercise caution before trusting large amounts.
