Bittrex just said yesterday they will support it and they "will take all reasonable steps to ensure that customer funds can be preserved on both chains. Bittrex will make all reasonable attempts to credit our users chain split tokens"

That doesn't sound very safe though. I know a lot of people are recommending to put this in a wallet where you control the key. But you also have to take into account replay attacks and when they release the coins to you.

What are people's plans and thoughts regarding this? I haven't heard much about it.

For now only coinbase, trezor, ledger nano and electrum are the wallets that support segwit2x fork.
The exchanges that support the fork are Hitbtc, coinbase, yobit and bittrex. Keeping coins on these exchanges will give you 1:1 ratio of the forked coin. These wallets and exchanges support Segwit2x fork and are replay protected. Wait for the announcements from them in order to claim the free coins.

So the Segwit2x fork is coming up. What are some safe exchanges & software wallets that are safe to keep your funds in to avoid replay attacks and to get your hands on your Segwit2x coins?

Will replay protection be included for Segwit2x before the fork?

What wallets have said they will support Segwit2x (i.e give you your coins)?

Which is the safest wallet?

Which wallet will give you the coins the quickest?
