Since Canada and USA citizens regularly travel to Cuba for tourism.
Yet both the Canadian and USA governments routinely exclude Cuba from international summits, almost always within the Western Hemisphere.

It is true that Cuba is not democratic, highly corrupt and not transparent at all. But excluding them from summits is just childish. Most recently "Cumbre de las Americas", they are excluded from bodies like "OEAS" and others.

The US embargo has not toppled the Cuban regime and Canada is one of their largest trading partners. US has stayed firm in their act, but Canada is acting with double standards.

If the Cuban government is given more exposure to different International Organism, that would in the long run influence Cuba to jump into modern geopolitics.

So is it fear that the left wing movement will sprout Northward, its funny, cause Food Stamps, Medicaid + Medicare, heat and electric assistance and subsidized rent is a form of socialism. As well as unemployment with its federal extension, etc... I don't have much information regarding the Canadian system, but I am sure they get a lot of subsidies.

I am in favor of social assistance, as long as there are controls, cause whenever you get help, people tend to abuse...

If the US doesn't want to trade with Cuba (against free market) that is their choice, but why not try to create a line of communication amongst all Western Hemisphere and eventually create a bloc to be able to withstand the emerging China Asia Bloc and Ruso Europe Bloc...

Just a few thoughts
