Just as I thought.

I've used exodus pretty much since the beginning, and I've seen others who have used their service without any issues. Their support has always been prompt and answers in quite some detail, which is rare to see in today's crypto industry.

I wouldn't use them as a cold wallet but I don't think that a minor mistake like this warrants such high level of panic. It was obviously an issue of segwit support that caused all the confusion, but since you hold your own private keys with Exodus, and they never have access to your seeds or private keys, they can't just scam you out of your money. I wouldn't be deterred from using them just from this instance if I were you.

Good thing that it is already resolved.This is really just a non-clear situation for OP how outbound/inbound change address transactions works.
Exodus wont scam for just $20. lol

Jaxx and Blockchain.com do not support Segwit

Exodus Support response:
1. Change Addresses First, I'd like to clarify that seeing two outputs on a BTC transaction is normal. This is how BTC is designed to work. When you send a transaction, your wallet sends the smallest available BTC input to cover the entire outbound transaction, it then sends the remainder (change) back to a new address in your wallet. This is just like using a $10 bill to pay for a $7 item. You give the cashier the $10 and they immediately hand $3 back. Similarly, BTC is sent in one big piece and then the change is immediately moved back into your wallet. The smallest available piece of BTC that was in your wallet was the 0.0139 BTC so it was used in the exchange transaction. In your order, 0.00830234 BTC of that input was sent to our exchange partner, and the remainder of 0.0054689 BTC was immediately moved to your change address: bc1q8n25wwgty6esmvsah0fymdhw08mrl0lkmyd7m5 Here is the Bitcoin Wiki page that goes into more detail about how change works in BTC: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Change 2. Segwit The most important thing to note here is that your change address for this transaction is a Segwit address. Not all wallets and explorers support Segwit, and that is why the transactions are not displaying correctly across multiple platforms. This means that any BTC stored in Segwit addresses within your Exodus wallet will not display in Jaxx. This doesn't mean that your funds are not in your wallet, it simply means that Jaxx doesn't yet support displaying Segwit addresses yet. What relationship does your exodus wallet have with your blockchain.com wallet? Did you export the seeds of your entire exodus wallet onto this blockchain.com wallet, or only the private keys of an address?

What exodus is trying to say here is that the other part of the transaction went to a change address, which is still controlled by you - which is completely normal and I don't see a problem there. As long as your exodus wallet shows the correct amount after updating and installing the new software there is really nothing to worry about.

I'd suggest that you read into what they sent you, because change addresses are quite commonly used in all wallet management software. I struggle to understand why your blockchain.com wallet doesn't reflect the change address's balance as well (perhaps you never imported that particular address, or blockchain.com doesn't support bech32 addresses), but Exodus is certainly not a scam. I've used them plenty of times without issues, and their exchange function is well tested. If you have any more queries, message support.

Base on your txid, the .0139 BTC is only the total input of your transaction, the 0.00830234 BTC was already sent for exchange purposes as you mentioned and the 0.0054689 BTC that you're saying that was stolen from you is just a change from the 0.0139 BTC, which supposedly will be sent back to you but since there's a software error from their side then that happens.

Now I ask if your balance is now reflected to your total funds? Coz exodus would never scam for merely +20$ IMO, I'm not siding to anyone since I get nothing for it, though there's still a chance, but if you can think it again they would never do that, that's why they want to help you solve your problem.

That thread was late 2017. Fees actually did get up that high during Bitcoin's epic run to $20k.

Thank you for getting back to me here. I'm sorry for the confusion. There is nothing to worry about, the second output in the transaction is change money coming back to your wallet. This is normal. Let me explain: imagine you want to pay for a $5 item with a $20 bill. You take $20 out of your wallet (which contained, say $100), you pay for the $5 item and receive $15 back. The total amount of money you have after paying for the transaction is $95. Transactions on the BTC network function the same way but they're not limited to fixed amounts like bank notes. So you will see your transactions being created from one or several inputs from different addresses with several outputs for the change money coming back to different addresses. If your transaction isnt there yet (blockchain is fast atm) then better create a support ticket asap. You might have made a mistake on the process.

I think this was just an error from the wallet and something went wrong because if you search for exodus wallet reviews you will mostly find only positive reviews. You should contact their customer support and I'm sure they will be able to fix the problem

Hello,
I used `Exodus` for an exchange(BTC to ETH)
Minimum amount was about $30(0.00830234BTC). but a larger amount of my account has been deducted(0.0139)!
a unknown transaction to `bc1q8n25wwgty6esmvsah0fymdhw08mrl0lkmyd7m5` address! while i had determined just about $30 to exchange. not about $50!!! Shocked

in continue i used `changelly` service to exchange 0.00122323 BTC(about $5) to ETH. i didn't had any problem with `changelly`. that was ok and very good.
I'm think Exodus is scam!
am i correct?
