He was scammed by his friend. Last night, he sent me the addresses, tx id and I can't see them in explorer. It was okay till last year but someone had an outgoing tx which the guy didn’t. It turned out that the guy wasn’t an expert; he thought the unspent output was his balance. I'm not sure how, I didn’t ask either, the account was a shared one. My gut says he has been scammed by his friend/partner.

Didn't notice you said you received a pm from a guy you "know online". Might be trying to scam you. Be careful! Next thing he is going to say is that we wants to sell you that account or something.
Thanks for the tip but I'm really not too greedy to fall in this scam. In fact, I would never fall as I don’t have greed in money which isn’t mine.
Thank you everyone for the kind help. I guess I should lock the thread as it is not anymore necessary here.

As far I remember, you could see all your wallets by going to address or somewhere similar (edit: can be found under settings. "Wallet & Address" -> "Imported Bitcoin Addresses").
They are addresses that have been imported using private keys, not addresses generated by the wallet.
To see all addresses generated by the wallet, you should go to "Wallet & addresses" and then click on "Manage". Addresses will be displayed if you click on "Reveal addresses".
Sorry, I was talking about the very old blockchain.info wallet (back then when you had access to all your private keys). I haven't used blockchain.info for ages, but I remember they moved all my wallet addresses to the "Imported Bitcoin Addresses" section because they introduced the secret recovery phrase to their web wallet (I think. But I am sure they moved it my address to that section. I can still see them over there if I login. Transactions from those old wallets can't be seen on the main page interface).

Yesterday, I received a PM from a guy who I know online only & from cryptocurrency community. He shared me that he had 2 BTC in his blockchain wallet which he deposited in

I haven’t used blockchain wallet ever; I can't remember if I ever had created an account with them.
Yesterday, I received a PM from a guy who I know online only & from cryptocurrency community. He shared me that he had 2 BTC in his blockchain wallet which he deposited in 2017; it was at the beginning when the price was low. Now, when he tried to check the BTC, he didn’t find them in his balance. I asked him to explore the address & he said he has balance with the addresses.
What this can be? Is it a bug?
Please notice that he had few accounts in blockchain. I thought he messed up log in other account but he confirmed me that this is the only account which he used for depositing BTC. He never used other accounts.
He tried to contact with blockchain support but still no good luck.
He is able to login into his account, but he can't see the coins on wallet? Tell him to check all his addresses. As far I remember, you could see all your wallets by going to address or somewhere similar (edit: can be found under settings. "Wallet & Address" -> "Imported Bitcoin Addresses"). He will find list of your addresses, along with address he might have archived. He should be able to see his wallet address. If its the old a legacy wallet he will be able to export his private keys. If he doesn't see any address, then very highly likely he logged into a wrong account.

Does it seem he has a legacy wallet and is now converted to an HD wallet? And can't able to do anything from his old balance?
Old legacy wallets are not converted to HD wallets automatically. That's not possible at all.

If he still has the 12 words mnemonic let him know to try to recover it through this link https://login.blockchain.com/wallet/forgot-password
The link you shared is used for recovering wallets created before their 2016 upgrade, not the wallets including 12-word seed phrase.
If the blockchain wallet seed phrase includes 12 words, that's definitely BIP39 and can be imported into any wallet supporting BIP39 seed phrases.

RapTarX, the best is to follow the suggestion given by JeromeTash.
In order to export the seed phrase, the guy should click on "Security" at top right corner of page and then select "View Secret Private Key Recovery Phrase".

If he can still log into the account, then he should be able to back up the wallet and import it into a software wallet like electrum using the 12 word phrase. If indeed he deposited the 2 BTC back in 2017 as he claims,  He will be able to view the balance and also be able to spend it.

Ask him if the wallet is not "watch-only" address, if it is, then the problem is obvious.
If the wallet is "watch-only" which it is not actually, shouldn’t he be able to watch the balance as the amount is visible in the wallet? Watch only wallets are supposed to be check the balance only I guess, isn’t it?

Normally, yes. But not if blockchain.com has completely nuked the feature.

I used to have a couple of watch only addresses in blockchain.com I used for testing but months later (or more than a year lol) they all disappeared. I noticed this quick cause my balance reverted to $0. Tried searching for a way to import watch-only addresses but nothing...

They've also omitted the watch only feature in their addresses guide

January 22, 2020 snapshot

To import a bitcoin address from a third party platform, click on + Import Bitcoin Address and select Existing address generated outside this wallet. Enter the bitcoin address or the private key. If you import a bitcoin address, it will be imported as watch only (non-spendable) and you will not be able to use its funds. Next, select an existing sub-wallet to transfer the funds to, or leave this blank if you want the funds to remain in Imported Addresses. Click Import to complete the process.

Updated version (September 20, 2021)

To import a bitcoin address from a third party platform, click on + Import Bitcoin Address and select Existing address generated outside this wallet. Enter the private key of the bitcoin address you want to import. [should've been here] Next, add a label for the address (optional) and select an existing sub-wallet to transfer the funds to, or leave this blank if you want the funds to remain in Imported Addresses. Click Import to complete the process.

But don't worry we can only start considering your friend fell for a watch-only scam once it's confirmed the address/es where funds are supposed to be can't be found in their blockchain.com wallet (HD wallet/imported/archived). Best to narrow down the possibilities one at a time  Cheesy

I asked him to explore the address & he said he has balance with the addresses.

In addition to the above suggestion, if your friend sees those addresses within the wallet, it has to be a bug but if the balance and addresses are missing within the wallet [only viewable/visible through an explorer], then your friend probably archived them by accident:

  • Archive: This option will archive the sub-wallet, so that none of its addresses or balance are included in your overall wallet balance or transaction history. You will still be able to see the sub-wallet listed under Settings > Wallets & Addresses. Click Unarchive to make its addresses and balance visible and usable again.

In regards to watch-only addresses, AFAICR, all of them had labels in that wallet. Did your friend had a similar experience while using the mobile app as well?

Can you try to ask your friend if he has some backup like 12 recovery mnemonic or the file with aes.json?

If he still has the 12 words mnemonic let him know to try to recover it through this link https://login.blockchain.com/wallet/forgot-password
Or use this link https://login.blockchain.com/wallet/import-wallet to upload the aes.json file to recover his old wallet.

I still believe the guy messed up but he confirmed everything above is true.

Limited in number. Limitless in potential.
Ask him if the wallet is not "watch-only" address, if it is, then the problem is obvious. As there are users particularly newbies asked me before and mostly it is the problem as there are users where they "bought" the btc.

Now, if it's not a watch-only, then probably there's something the blockchain support needs to do about it, as they transition from wallet to an exchange in the past year(s).
