In my opinion, this time is the right time and is a good step for us to invest in bitcoin, because the price goes down and becomes a great opportunity to buy as much as possible.
Digital currencies like bitcoin are now very popular and have very good growth, its value is always increasing every year.
I don't feel hesitant and worried about investing in bitcoin, because I'm sure will get good results and reap the benefits of bitcoin investing in the future.

This year, the blockchain technology will be applied to financial management, shopping consumption, digital authentication, games, and credit scoring, which means that the blockchain technology will break out this year!

As the most successful application of blockchain, BTC is well worth investment!

I think he based it in the previous history of the btc price which is always increasing after the dips despite of the bad news circulating around btc.
But isn't investing lesson number 1 that results from the past are no guarantee for the future?

We know the price of bitcoin will reach some peaks in a couple of years.
Interesting! How do you know this exactly?
I think he based it in the previous history of the btc price which is always increasing after the dips despite of the bad news circulating around btc.

Well for me every dips is an opportunity to invest, if you are a risk taker and ready to accept whatever the outcome is then grab this chance. Even the expert says the price will skyrocket in the future however it would be better to think otherwise so you wont be affected to much incase because no one can certainly predict whats in the future.

Bitcoin is the digital currency, It's value increasing due to the increased in investor. We know the price of bitcoin will reach some peaks in a couple of years. So it's wise thing to inverse in future diamond. Bitcoin is the decentralised digital currency, so we no need to worry about the price in future.

Would it be a smart move? i know no one "knows" but what do you think? I'm thinking long term, 5 years.

Appreciate all the advice.

Kindly move forward. To say the fact, there is no specific time for investment. You can invest in at any time for a long term hoping in bitcoin. Last two months have been disappointing to the investors, but hope after every correction there would be hike in price. Adaption are taking place. Assume after April (the financial year end), crypto currencies value would recover back. So invest now and buy as many coins as you can along with bitcoin.

For 5 year investment holding it pretty obvious that no one knows unless someone is too optimistic for this market, just choose between these: If you can hold for that long with an optimistic mind that bitcoin's price will still grow during that time then go buy what you can, but if you are not sure then just hold for atleast 1 year because i believe bitcoin will not fall down anytime soon.

Obviously it's smart move to inverse in bitcoin now.Because the price is bitcoin was around 8700$,it's nearly 1700$ less than a week before value.Bitcoin price will get back to old value in few days. Then you will get 1700$ as a profit for the wise Investment.

Perhaps cost average and stick to the plan? Anything else will drive you batty with doubt or regret. I don't think we're going to be seeing any crazy moves upwards for the foreseeable future. There's still plenty of room below. Whichever direction it takes, those who average will be the least frazzled by the time they're all spent out.
The beauty of cryptocurrencies is that we will never know for sure if next crazy pump won't happen tomorrow. I mean, the recent ATH happened out of the blue.
No one expected that bitcoin will soar so high in December 2017 - people at that time would be totally happy with $10k and we get 2x more.
For now, we are plagued by some random bad news and FUD, but I expect that soon coast will be clear, which should open the door for another price race.

It right time to invest the coin. Most of the people now invest in the bitcoin. Now bitcoin price increases day by day. So it good opportunity of the future saving and invest on right time. It connect the all country people. So people share more information and get more ideas. Market place is important for the price information and learn more business process. So people learn more information from market place.

The price right now are quiet low so I think investing on it right now is a good entry point and since we are talking about the long term, the price right now will not matter. Hold it for good and for sure you will enjoy a bigger profit later on, though we will see a lot of pumps and dumps but don't think about focus on your goal and you will succeed.
Any market that shows a huge level of oversold and even at this present value means one thing and that is the fact that this is a good price.

Sure, not a lot of people would know how to know when a market is oversold, but from the look of things, this is a market that has been tapped down for a while and having it at this value from where the ATH dropped from, then no one would need a soothsayer to know this is a good value.
I agree this seems like the perfect opportunity to buy bitcoin the price is very good however people are scared thinking the price will go down even now and while that is a possibility it will be difficult to find prices as good as the ones we are watching right now so people you need to overcome your fear look at the charts and understand that this the time to buy.

It would be great if you invest long term for 5 years but you still play and multiply your capital. I mean 'multiply capital' to utilize a volatile bitcoin prices, when bitcoin prices will decrease then you sell them and when bitcoin prices at the lowest price you can buy them back. I'm going to be very profitable, so you don't just focus for 5 years with not touching and not seeing price movement, it would be great if you play them.
Yes long term in investing in bitcoin will be a great moves. You know why? Their are more predictions that bitcoin price could go skyrocket in the coming months. Having said, as multiply is good decisions also as long you know how to enter the market as buyingt at dips then might sell if already in profit. Anyone could do this moves just play it well that you may end up profitable still.

It would be the best if you had invested a few weeks ago. A few weeks ago, the price was around $ 7,000. I think that will also be the historic low for this year. Nevertheless, I would advise you to invest now, because I believe that btc is stabilizing and no crashes are to be expected. By the end of the year, the price could rise to as much as $ 30,000. That's just my modest forecast.

It's the lowest so far, but it's just the first quarter of the year so expect a lot more market turbulence ahead. 2018's gonna be the year where crypto has to adapt to regulations and markets.

Bitcoin seems in a down trend at the moment, maybe it will drop to $7K which is the best time to buy bitcoin.
People will compete to buy in the dip, hence the price will recover in a short time, consider $8K as a good price to enter the market if you want to hold bitcoin for 5 years.

I think it would be a smart decision, investing for a long term like 5 years is a good investment plan. But always remember that, investing to bitcoin or any cryptocurrencies is very risky, at any time all your money can be lost in just a single moment. So it must better if you only invest an amount that you can afford to lose, so you don't have to repent later about your investment.

like always when there is a dip in price, it becomes a better time to start buying bitcoin. and right now there is a nice dip with price lower than a big buy support.

I can't promise you that price won't fall more, and I can't tell you when this trend is going to reverse and rallies to begin. but what I believe in is that price will be a lot higher than this in near future and I have believed this for as long as I have known bitcoin and have been buying more amounts every month no matter what the price was ever since 2014 and will continue doing so.
Brother I am also been buying bitcoins on the same logic from the past year and so far it has been quiet profitable to  buy in the dips and then sell when bitcoin is everywhere over the news when price starts shooting up. And also there has been one trend which bitcoin follows for sure and that's whenever bitcoin price falls quiet low and that too in a matter of days, that's the right time to buy bitcoins as the price will definitely cross the price from it went to drop once the correction starts.

Investing in bitcoin is GAMBLING that some day it can do more than 14 transactions per second ON CHAIN. And I'm not talking about Lightning Network because that's just a dumb system that will never work like I explained before: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/reasons-why-lightning-network-will-fail-2792933

Maybe some day a genius will stand up and invent a new blockchain algo. Then again, that day may never happen. But that's what you're betting on when you buy bitcoin for the long term.

Bitcoin is good for a long-term investment, because its price increase is unpredictable and unstable I believe that bitcoin’s price will be higher in the future than present. I have some BTCs that I buy every month in small quantities and I still doing that.
It will be more worth it to invest in bitcoin now because the price is below $10k, imagine how much profit you will have if you invest now and the price tomorrow might be back to $10-$12k then at a short period of time you now have profit at easy just make decision asap.

When I think about bitcoin in five years, I always have the next halving in mind.
The last halvings always were accompanied by an increase of bitcoin price although bitcoin at that times did not have the public attention it has now.
I have no reason to imagine it would be different this time.
If the supply of newly mined bitcoins drops by 50%, then I think it is only fair to assume that the bitcoin price has to increase.
By the way, in five years we are already heading towards the next but one halving.

The cryptocurrency market is now in a state of initial development. This means that the next 5 years will be profitable to buy bitcoin. Even if the price is 50,000 dollars it will be profitable. I believe that bitcoin will be a very expensive asset, but you need to remain calm and not to sell coins now. Few people who had bitcoins in 2011 earned a lot of money on their coins. This happened because they didn't believe in the future of bitcoin. Each user must determine for themselves whether he believes in bitcoin or not.

Yeah no one knows, but if we consider the market of the last year and previous 2 months of 2018, it is expected that bitcoin is not going to decline any further because already it has suffered a huge dip (more than 60% from the last ATH) in last few months.

Long term investment in bitcoin is quite safe, and i am sure every new year will bring new ATH for bitcoin.
Yes no one really can tell what may the bitcoin price outcomes if we invest. With regards to the price of bitcoin last year and if we compare today their is a big difference. Let's come to think that it is still the best opportunity to invest in bitcoin and a smart moves because it is not late to put our money and hold it for long term.

Bitcoin $9950 and Gold $1350/ounce

Buy/Invest Bitcoin only at $400.
In fact, no matter how little one ends up buying now would really mean a lot in the future. One thing is that no one can force anyone to buy or not and the decision is in everyone's hands, but for those who are smart enough without considering all the present little fluctuations in the market presently, would buy now and know that they have bought into the future at a very low value.

Its the point with any investment, how long you are ready to wait before you take the profit. Until now who ever invested in bitcoins before 2017 is in big profit, who invested after October 2017 needs to wait new ATH. Even then they can sell at 30000 dollars, or to wait higher price and more profit. Its about how much any person can afford to wait, and with how much money. Invest how much you can afford to lose have a lot of sense, you will be able yo wait you investment to reach its full capacity and full price. If you go all in what will you eat and where you will sleep?
Investing now in bitcoin for the future can mean a lot for every person, but I repeat waiting or patience, call it how ever you wish is required! Only like that you will feel real profit for couple years or even more, nobody can say when.

this will be a great opportunity in the future, chances are we will get huge profits.

Well, this is a great opportunity to invest bitcoin because the price is always increasing from year to year. Different if you invest in gold, the price is always stable from year to year.

Since you are thinking on buying bitcoin and holding for 5 years then buying bitcoin could be the best decision of your life, I have not held that long and my profits are still amazing I'm sure my profits will be way bigger if I hold for that long and the same will happen to you so if you are convinced about bitcoin there is not a reason to not invest now.

We're at a stable spot right now, so I think it's really your call. There's a chance that we might shoot downwards and then correct right after that, but there's also a chance that we'll shoot upwards and correct at some point in the future.

If it's the first situation, then you're much better off just waiting out a drop and then buying when bitcoin is in the red. That would basically guarantee you profits because we know that bitcoin, especially as of now, has a stable price of 10,500-11,000. If it's the latter, then I guess it would make sense to buy now, but you also run the risk of it going downwards, so I would suggest just waiting out to see what the market does after this stability period.

I think that it would be a great move. The price is going to rise, so the sooner you will buy Bitcoins, the better it will be. Furthermore, if it's long term investment, you win.
It is a really great move. In fact, if I buy now, I would just go to sleep, wake up in few months’ time and come back to check my holdings. One sure way to always buy bitcoin is to target the dips and that is where the main gain is anyway. Every long term investor will always win and the OP can consider what the price was at this time last year and what we have as the dip now, probably that should ring some bell.

You should be happy if you are investing now as this is more like the best time anyone can ever think of investing anyway. It is always a smart move when you buy at dips, and you can consider how smart or lucky you are when you want to compare yourself to those who buy at the top and end up selling at the bottom. One way to always stay ahead of your game is never to fall for FOMOs, and now that you have found yourself in this position of buying at the bottom, then count yourself very lucky.

You will get more profit when you hold it for long term investment, There is no doubt on this. If you check the bitcoin price history and compare from start to till now, its just keep on going like sky roketting. So i personally suggest you to invest as soon as possible.

If you can take bitcoin's market price today, then why not invest now? Bitcoin is sluggish to climb up these days and it's still a good chance to invest now because the moment it will pump, you will probably miss to ride the opportunity that would supposedly give you real profit.

It would be good if you intend for long-term investment, especially with 5 years time. If we look price bitcoin per year always rises significantly, and this will most likely occur in the next year. So I think it would be great if you are not tempted to sell bitcoin in a few month or a few years, just focus for the next 5 years I am sure you will get big profits, especially if you buying bitcoin with a lot amount.

This is true. Historically Bitcoin doubles in price every 8 months.
Furthermore 5 years form now it will be march 2023. So almost 2.5 half years after the next halving in june/july 2020.
If will do what it ever has done after a halving, OP should see some really nice ROI.
And 5 years is nothing. The time is passing by so fast.

If you plan to hold for a few years as you said this may be a good time to buy some BTC.
However never go all in and do yourself a favour and really only invest money you absolutely don't need!!!
After your initial investment you can do dollar cost averaging. Just buy once a month for 50 bucks for instance and do this over several months or years.
And stay strong in times when price is not mooning!!
So don't panic sell! And store your coins by using a Trezor or a Ledger Nano S!
Good luck and hodl hard!  Wink

Based on speculation, Bitcoin should be able to go as high as $500,000 before end of 2022. I think the future is highly very bright and now should be the best time to buy.  The price is extremely very low now compare to what is going to be in future and if you want to be among world millionaires in future the best thing to do is to buy now and hold for long term.

I dont now if its a good decision to hold your bitcoin in 5 years,  'cause we have no idea what will happen in bitcoin after 5 years, due to some fuds nowadays and some scammer that keep promoting bitcoin in a bad way and also because of some banning reason in other country. so what if after 5 years bitcoin will fall dip and become a worthless crypto in the market? Lol so for me i think 1-2 years is a good idea to hold ' cause 5 years is too much and perhaps you will not earn more profits on it.  And also i suggest to observe the price always and read some news  even though you want a long term investment 'cuase there's a time after the volatility the price is rocketing to the top. Which is the all time high value.  .so you must monitor it if you want to obtain more profits.

Would it be a smart move? i know no one "knows" but what do you think? I'm thinking long term, 5 years.

Appreciate all the advice.

It's up to you to make the decision. Don't let anyone try to convince you to do anything, unless you hear other opinions and their justifications.

But diversifying your portfolio to include any amount of bitcoin for the long term is a wise move in my opinion. And right now with the price barely afloat over $10k, I think it is a decent enough time to start buying for sure.

Just be prepared to hold for perhaps more than 5 years if you want to make a good profit on your investment that you make in bitcoin. The price movement long term is still going to be up but you never know when the next pump is coming. Be careful with falling into the trap of "i'll sell in 5 years no matter the price" or borrowing to make the investment.

Investing in bitcoin is a smart move if you'll buy at the dip and just like today, market is considerable on a mini correction and if you plan of long term holding specifically for 5 years, its a sure yes. I rarely see investors now that are saying things like this that they are planning to hold bitcoin for long term as most of the newbies now are rushing to have a quick buck and they are all in a hurry to see the best results.

Yeah if you're in for the long haul, with enough control to ride the corrections and "crashes", then i think it will be a smart move. Even if you miss the peak selling price, the value of btc may very well be higher than what it is today

i think hodling in 5 years is too much and for sure you will miss all the opportunity to sell when the value soar again 'cause we all knows  that every year end there's a chance of price to rocketed like what we experienced last year. So for me 5 years to hodl is not profitable pal. And besides 1 year is enough or Months depends of the price in the market . And if i were you i will make some technical analysis every year to don't miss the right time to sell.

although i am not an expert but in my own observation and thinking invisting when their is price drop is appropriate.if you can see though their times that btc price increases but the dropping of prices last for sometimes 2days so buy when it is low then hold and wait for bitcoin to regain its price

I can’t claim to be an expert, but I’ve been investing in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies for 5 years now. Cryptocurrencies are still risky investments but they are no longer as risky as they were a few years ago. Back then everyone kept talking about Bitcoin as a Ponzi scheme and that it would fail. It has now lasted about 9 years and keeps getting stronger.

It would be pretty smart if you knew how much money you are putting in. If you have over $100 then I would suggest that you place that in cold storage.

If in the near future there is no bad news affecting the cost of bitcoin, then by mid-March, bitcoin should fall slightly in price to a value of 8000-9000 dollars and begin its take-off in 2018.

For me 5 years would be great for long term investment and maybe that time that your investment worth of millions already who knows!

This time is good to buy bitcoin because it is just $10k for now and maybe it is $100k or more in 5 years later...
5 years is going to be a lot of waiting. If you don't like when the price dumps then you could do that 5 year option and not look at what Bitcoin is worth during those 5 years.

I think that it would be a great move. The price is going to rise, so the sooner you will buy Bitcoins, the better it will be. Furthermore, if it's long term investment, you win.
Exactly it is great move and not a small thing it is price has moved almost double this month. As an investment it is right time to get involve in bitcoin and buy as much as can, then focusing on your goal for high profit, bitcoin don’t take much long time to increase when it is already invested, a lot of expert said that coming time is going to be the age of digital currency so use the opportunity and buy as much as now can be bought.

Yes, if you want to invest for the long term, you will surely get your profit.
But if you talk about short time, it is a speculation whether you get your profit or not.

Long term? Of course! It's the short term that nobody has a clue about, but long term we're going to see more and more adoption all the time. Cryptocurrency is the future and all of the banks know it. Either than or they've got their heads buried in the sand, which still works in our favour.

5 years would be a very long time. For me, investments in bitcoin is more for a short term investments. By short I mean, months or within a year. Within that 5 years in time, a lot can happen to bitcoin. Investing in bitcoin now, is the perfect time specially that its price today is way lower than its previous price where it almost reached 20k dollars a piece. You don't actually have to wait for 5 years because after a few months time, you can already see how much the value of your investments grow after a few months and before the year ends.

Why start tomorrow when you can start today!? right ?

it is a smart move as long as you invest what you can afford to lose and not a penny more.
from what i see, bitcoin is not yet at the end of mass adoption. it is not even began the journey to mass adoption yet. and because of that, we are still early adopters eve if in short term you don't feel that way.

I think you should go for it. Bitcoin never ceases to amaze us as it always gets back after a price drop. You can also check out it's price graph from around 4-5 years ago till now. Also you can see that it has already started to go up, it reached 10,000 USD a few days ago and then it dropped a little bit, but I don't think it would be much of a problem as it started to increase again.
So, I would suggest you to invest it for a long term. What most of the good investors do is invest while the market is red, i.e. when the price is alot lower than what it usually is.

For me I would rather be in bitcoin than not, if bitcoin goes $100 a coin I would be more gutted I didn’t invest.
If it goes up it’s a smart move if the arse falls out of it then not so smart.
If you have the spare money to invest go for it, personally I think it’s only going to get better.
I would rather put money into bitcoin than put it into a savings account with a bank

like always when there is a dip in price, it becomes a better time to start buying bitcoin. and right now there is a nice dip with price lower than a big buy support.
