Why do you need HDMI?

its called Teamviewer bro

He's not mining on them. He's going to use them as a main computer, for gaming/browsing/whatevering on. How do you install teamviewer on just a computer monitor without a computer anyways?

Team viewer might be a nice solution as soon as I have connected the two screens. You cannot connect the screen to a LAN-port Wink

I am moving my regular computers downstairs. If I also get to set up dedicated miners, I'll look into Teamviewer (tanks for the tip).

Thanks for the tips.

Will make sure to get good video cables.

About the HDMI cable i'm not sure as my screen is without loudspeakers and I have some pretty decent loudspeakers (creature 2) that I'd like to use. Could possibly work if there is some kind of plug I can put at the end(s) of the HDMI cable.

make sure you get a high quality HDMI cable. I got a long, cheap cable and experience massive amounts of artifacting, so I shelled much more money for a cable with thicker wires, insulation, shielding, and mesh insulation and ferrite cores, works great. video cable is the cable that has the most data going through it. make sure its a good one

hdmi can carry the audio channel if it's set up right.  so all you'll need is to run the mic but the mic could probably set up through usb too. the on off and reset buttons im not sure.
make sure you get a powered usb cable for long distances.

Howdy folks

I am thinking of moving two computers down to the basement where it's cooler. Reason for this is offc to be able to mine with them and still use them as normal. It should be good both for cooling and to avoid hearing fan-noice.
I have figured out where i can pull wires etc. Only thing is that I'm not quite sure about how long the wires can be without loss of quality.

They have to be about 7 meters long, but I'm thinking of 10m wires as it seems like it's a pretty common length and I will have more freedom to move them a little if needed.

So - my list.

2x 10m hdmi cables
2x 10m usb cables to splitters (Or do i need 1 to 1 cables for keyboard/mouse? Do the splitters have to be powered?)
3x audio cables, 2 for loudspeakers and one for mic. (Need extra shielding? how will it affect the sound?)
1x cat 5 cable and some push-buttons for on/off and reset. Thinking of using 1 twisted pair for each jumper-shorting, using all 4 pairs. (will this work with 10m cable?)

About the CD-ROM I guess I'll have to go with an external USB one with its own power-supply, or use the stairs.
(Don't think there is such a thing as 10 SATA cable. Tongue)

I'm sure that others at this forum have done similar stuff. If you are one of those, your input is greatly appreciated.
