Topic: External PCIe Gen3 to GPU Desktop Enclosure (Read 5053 times)
Looking for something like this for a render farm at work. Autodesk 360s cloud services are a pain in the ass and limited support for 3DSMAX , and I'm sick of sending stuff to spain to the render farm company we use only to find unannounced plugin conflicts.
Weird cuz that's exactly the layout of this thing.
8 slots, 4 usable with proper GPUs. Not good.

Then you can get 8 of those, the mobo you said, a 1200W power supply* and your 1.6 Ghash rig is reality.
* 1200W is enough. I do 1.4Ghash with 750W on less efficient hardware.

I have something similar. IMHO it's not really useful to have 8 single-spaced slots. Most GPU cards will take two slots just to fit the heatsink and fan, thus leaving half of the PCI slots on the mobo unused.
In my case, in order to avail of all single-spaced slots, I had to saw off the extra slot on each GPU and replace the heatsink with special thin water blocks. That took time and money.

Looks like the NA255A is PCIe 3.0 x16, while the NA250 is PCI3 2.0 x8. The 250 should still be plenty for mining, and is probably cheaper. Even still, the 250 is ~$1,800USD, so I don't even want to know what the 255 costs.
