I am sorry if this is not the right thread, I am just getting frustrated searching the internet and coming up empty.  Certainly someone here has had the same problem, since this is a cheap PSU for 850 Watts.  DOes anyone know where I can buy extra PCI-E 6 and 8 pin cables for this model PSU? (TR2 RX 850W)  I cant find anything anywhere relating to extra cables and the thermaltake website does not seem to support more cables for this particular model, although they only include enough for 2 GPU's.  Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks All!!

If you dont get them, you can always go for sata->pcie power adapter. Usually people have spare sata power

I'd be careful with molex/sata to PCI-E. You're supplying 12v power and ground over only 1 wire each. PCI-E uses 3 wires each, plus 2 extra grounds for the bigger 8 pin. I would be very careful and not apply a load greater than 75 watts per 12v wire, or you risk burning out the terminals/melting the wire like I did.

I'd like to extend a big THANK YOU to YOU!!! I just setup a 3rd computer and was running a 5850 off the sata wires...after reading your post i felt the wires and they were hot enough i couldn't hold onto them long...so i took one card out and split the load to 1 pcie plug and 1 sata powered plug and it's running alot cooler now...whew no fire for me Cheesy

oh and sorry it's OT

The adapters I use are to 6pin, have never seen a sata to 8 pin adapter. I use them on 7950s for a quite a long time now.

I have a bunch from Thermaltake TR2 RX 1200W PSU's. Looks like they'll fit. I'll confirm when I get home from work tonight.

ssateneth - Oh that is a good idea, I didnt quite understand the first time around what you meant, but I suppose that would work.  I will have to look into it.

themaskedone - How do I know that those are compatible with my PSU?  It looks like every PSU takes different modular cables, and there is no "standard" cable?

I dont think that is quite what I need, I need a cable that is compatible to plug into this picture
http://www.gnd-tech.com/content/519-Thermaltake-TR2-RX-1000w-Power-Supply-Review/view/4

I alreayd have 2 GPU's hooked up to it and want to add more, but need the cables that will plug from the PSU to the cards and thermaltake doesnt seem to make cables combatible with this model.

You just need modular cables. Something like : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Thermaltake-PCI-E-6-Pin-to-6-Pin-Modular-PSU-Sleeved-Cable-Lot-of-5-/130836832183?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e767b9fb7

What I'm suggesting is to split off your existing PCI-E power plugs into extra plugs. It is very unlikely you will find more PCI-E power plugs that plug directly into the power supply for less than $4 each. Get 6 splitters, and you have 8 PCI-E power plugs.

Get some of these. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812198018
Each one effectively adds one PCI-E 6+2 power plug.
