Holy cow, Bitpay is really pushing forward, I hope other competitors do the same though Bitcoin needs to spread even further, when I can pay steam directly for games and buy Jewellery supplies with Bitcoin I'll feel like we're getting somewhere.

I wish people could get off the FB thing. So many other retailers like Spotify would be the kind of new media that wouldn't have any reason at all to reject a payment method. FB is maybe too high profile, some people out there don't want Bitcoin to succeed so might whisper in FB ear to not accept it. Don't forget the pressure these media companies we know are under from governments in the form of NSA etc. If they can sell the idea Bitcoin is used by TERRORISTSSSS then a big company might not touch Bitcoin.

Cashback 15%
They can if they want to. But will they do it? It's not Facebook that accepts it. It is the payment processors that has the final say.

By the time Bitcoin goes mainstream Facebook will not be anymore the 1st social network, something else will replace it.

The payment processor deals with 3,500 retailers. They can along with FB process payments (in theory) from all of them I guess as of now.

Facebook doesn't take Bitcoin, its the payment processor that provides a option to accept Bitcoin. If the operator don't check the option to accept Bitcoin, Bitcoin still wouldn't be accepted. The title is misleading.

I'll be honest I put the title as Adyen will accept Bitcoin and I noticed about 3 people read it over an hour. I thought it was worthy of people seeing so I changed the title which is slighty misleading and about 50 people read it literally in about 2 minutes. Anyway I changed it to exactly reflect the story.

The fact is this is quite a big thing that is bigger than FB and includes a ton of other major retailers. The payment processor is dealing with 25 billion! annually in transactions and is growing rapidly so it is not a small story that there is now a lifeline into these markets. And its going to be an interesting story to follow cause as the article says many big retailers thought Adyen can now accept Bitcoin without any effort so they will have to refuse Bitcoin on grounds not based on good business cause I'm sure any retailer will be happy to take peoples money if it means zero effort to them but potentially increases sales. The question now is why wouldn't they?

Potentially its a backdoor for Bitcoin to the mainstream.

Maybe this has been posted already, mods can delete if so. This could push Bitcoin quite a bit as it connects abitcoin to so many major brands including Facebook.
