Facebook did this because they knew that not all advertising in Facebook are real. Some are just there to scam users and apparently they see it as a threat for the secured community they are building. They ban ads so that people can see the difference from te real big ICOs to nonexistent ICOS.

As the poster before me (kind of?) said, Facebook is not the first company to do this. About a week ago, Google did the same thing; however, the reason they are doing so is actually kind of reasonable. The advertisements are targeting a very general audience rather than a specific crypto-related target audience. Also, as we all already know in these forums, the number of scams in relation to a cryptocurrency or ICO, whether it be bitcoin or some other altcoin, is extremely high in contrast to different subjects. It is very common to see people funding projects with ICOs that later evaporate or forks of Bitcoin itself with the sole purpose of creating money out of thin air. The average web surfer does not know much about any of these topics and is more likely to fall for any of these scams than, say, your average forum poster here. I think it is overall a good idea considering that otherwise we could have bad press against cryptocurrencies and articles or writers simply calling the entire field a scam.

you didn't have to bump a 1.5 month old topic to post this link here, if you wanted to share this then you should have started a new topic.

and this is a silly petition in my opinion. because obviously Facebook is a centralized platform which is free to have any kind of rule they like to have and there is nobody saying it is good or bad.
and secondly this ban is not all a bad thing. they didn't just come out banning something useful, they banned a lot of scams actually that were happening through these ads.

Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum, and initial coin offerings have all hit the mainstream, which has promptly resulted in a number of scams. While Facebook says it wants people “to continue to discover and learn” about those products and services. facebook is a medium of advert for the groups

petition good idea. but also Twitter and google are following the crypto /ICO ban.
Unfortunate news for our community, but hopefully they will realise that banning ads will not make much difference and will only push web traffic away from these sites, to other more supportive platforms.

Other supportive platforms ? More than 90% of the traffic is consumed by these websites and it will be huge blow if all of them ban crypto ads. I think the genuine coins are also suffering because of some fraud coins. Google is taking this action only because of so many suspicious ICOs being launched in the market. Google will not want their image to suffer by associating with such projects.

Facebook started to ban all advertisement related to cryto coins. Is this the pressure from international governments? what's next?

Despite the short-term impact on its value, the bans are a good thing for Bitcoin. As the advertisers promoting cryptocurrencies would be "trying to prey on new movers into the market, leaving the monopoly of big social giants they may move to roots of society. FB is just trying to safe guard its own policies by doing it .

You're late to the news dude. It's been almost 3 months already.
LINK: Facebook is banning cryptocurrency and ICO ads

They're banning ads for a good reason: most likely to counter scams; and not some reason like "they're spreading fud so they can buy cheap coins" or some other BS crypto conspiracy theory.
