The only thing we can do is to take precautions. I have a Facebook profile but it doesn't have a lot of data and some of it is incomplete, it doesn't have my real name, etc. So I am not worried about hacking. I don't understand people who put all their real data and transmit their whole life out there. Then things happen like they go on vacation (and announce it on Facebook/Instagram) and have their house broken into.

Similar to the haveibeenpwned website, you can check if you were in the dataset that was released in here - https://haveibeenzuckered.com/.
Luckily I wasn't one of the affected, but I do reckon that I've canceled my account some years ago. In fact, if I did found my information there, I would have to send an e-mail to Facebook & Co since they should have erased my data as requested by GDPR...

How many times this needs to Happen before we can finally feel safety in Using Facebook?

or is this really a Hacking or an inside Job?

Considering that Mark Zuckerberg is one of the brightest and internet genius yet Facebook is still being hacked couple of times?

This is the reason why i don't really use Facebook nowadays and prevent myself from having extended personal date from this.
Even if you are not Facebook anymore still they have access to your accounts and facebook collects data as long as it exists in your smartphone and even worse is they have been linked to lot of other applications login details.

Facebook has been hit by yet another data scandal. This time a user in a low-level hacking forum published the phone numbers and personal data of over 533 million Facebook users from 106 countries. Including records of 32 million users in the US, 11 million in the UK and 6 million in India. The information leaked contains Facebook IDs, phone numbers, locations, birthdays, bios and in some cases the email addresses of users.

Social media is selling all their users data to the companies from the beginning that is how they are making money so these data leak is not a deadly thing but we are having issues with the spam messages and phishing attacks so every crypto users need to secure their email account password and be aware of clicking any links from email.

Saw another new concerning the hacking few days ago...and wasn't too surprised. Imagine that kind of info(the bolded ones) in the hands of dangerous people... Sensitive data of over 100,000 000 people in the hands of few strangers who could track and harm them.

Alot of people don't seem to see anything wrong in centralized companies holding our private data and valuable assets. In True decentralized platforms, people control their data/assets. And the leak is why privacy/anonymity is very important

I've read this news a few days ago. I'm waiting for Facebook's official response to give their users hope that the data has been protected and they're doing their best to track the culprit.

But there's none or if there is, I haven't seen it.
