The only good thing about FB Coin is that if/when it gets rolled out it’ll help get more average joe’s into bitcoin which is what we all want right?

That's likely what will happen more people onboard on crypto for they now will learn more.  Diem being a stablecoin I guess will be paired to BTC which they can use to buy BTC.

Rebranding felt like its all about to launch already but why should they be waiting for next month, holidays I think will be a good time. People have funds during holidays and facebook users are greeting everyone as well which help spread what Diem is about.

The libra craze has been long forgotten. I recall those years when there was so much activities surrounding libra and most people were positive about the project development owing to the fact that the developers and partners are institutions with substantial amount of funds.

Libra rebrands to Diem, hoping to shake off associations.

"The project is hoping that a new name will help people forget the mass regulatory panic that drowned out Libra’s initial announcement."

Even if they are doing it to shake of associations, I am not so sure if it will work perfectly knowing that the investors and users are already aware of the situations that they were in as they decided to create their own currency which is Libra.

But if they think that it can help then I have no problem with their decision and I will hope that they will be successful in their rebranding as I am sure that it can also help the crypto industry once they can successfully launch their Diem.

Firstly, this thread belongs to "Altcoin Discussions" section because Libra or whaever else is not bitcoin!

I am not sure why Facebook is not planning call off this entire project because as far as I know, they haven't yet received the regulatory nod from majority of the main markets. It's highly unlikely to happen till they define Libra or Diem as a cryptocurrency. Majority of the countries will not allow an American company to run a parallel currency system besides fiat! Still a long long way to go!
